Ayane followed Takami through the newly opened hole-in-the-wall into a rather nice kitchen. Maybe an island like that would be nice to put into — right another time for this. By the time Ayane had walked over to the younger girl, Takami had already set about securing the room. It seemed as if whatever combat program she had been in had been a good one if she already knew to do this much. Well, might always be practical experience too, everyone has a story.

“Good job,” Ayane said in a low voice as she lightly tapped Takami’s shoulder with the back of her hand. She took a step forward, but stopped at the faint sound of nails clicking on hardhood. She rolled her paintbrush between two fingers with a frown, before motioning towards a cleft in the wall between counter space and a refrigerator. She gave Takami a quick nod.

Takami responded to the signal with a nod of her own, and quickly began preparing something, her eyes narrowing in concentration. She turned to the noise, and a silken sheet stretched out in front of her as she held her arms out, broader than any of the strips she was using before. She raised her arms and, with a flourish, she whipped up a mess of ribbons to latch onto and bind whatever it was inside the small crevice. Once she felt she had a grip, Takami finished by throwing back her arms, pulling the Grimm into the sheet and wrapping it up inside it.

Once it was done, she turned to her partner and huffed proudly. Ayane must've been impressed, that's why she didn't say anything! Well, Takami hoped she wasn't underestimating her here, with how these things went down so easily. With a skip over, she turned over and took a look at the bound and no doubt helpless beast.

“Oh cool, you caught it. Those ribbons are really nimble, huh?” Ayane said leaning forward to watch as the now-tangled Grimm was yanked out of its hidey-hole. This one seemed more placid than the first, dull yellow eyes watching the two girl from a lumpy, but oddly egg-shaped head. Ayane again pat Takami on the shoulder as she passed by her partner and ambled into the kitchen, the eyes of the Grimm following her every step. She came to a stop a few feet from the Grimm, a small frown bowing her lips.

The Grimm wriggled like a cat sizing up its prey, accompanied by a faint scratching sound. Something sharp sliding across a hard surface.

“Oh.” Ayane said, her hand with the paintbrush snapping up. With the rip of fabric, an arm of the Grimm lurched out of its binding, with a hasty jab of Ayane’s paintbrush catching it in the wrist. The vanished with a wet splash as it splashed against the refrigerator as paint. The Grimm screeched, and was swiftly silenced by a downward jab of her paintbrush against its head. From somewhere deeper in the house, a pair of snarls responded.

“Well, there goes surprise, huh?” Ayane said, taking a step back towards Takami.

Takami cringed as the sound of the dog-thing's screech rang in her ears. The pair had been fairly quiet so far, but now that their cover was blown, they'd need a new plan, and fast. With a bit of a sheepish smile, Takami turned to Ayane for a moment. "Oops. Can't be helped, huh?"

She retracted her ribbons into their invisible rolls without a stain on them before taking stock of her surroundings. The two voices she heard, their sources would be coming any minute now. The young weaver gathered magic around her fingertips. She was on a hair trigger, ready to strike from behind the entangled doors the moment something black and sinister crossed her vision.

It didn't take long for them to appear. One of them, a taller, lankier version of a wolf, darted left and right towards her, soft paws giving the thing traction and muting the sound of its movement. It pounced around Takami's first attack, getting a leg stuck in the strung-up doorway in the process. Throwing herself backwards, she took the chance to catch the shadowy thing with another twisting strip of cloth. This one was embroidered with sharp angular markings, like a page full of an unknown script. It screeched and struggled, bleeding something black and grey from its knuckles where it was caught. Takami turned to look at her partner as she tried to subdue it. "We hafta find the other one! Any clues t' where it's coming from?"

Ayane flicked her paintbrush up as as the Grimm streaked into the room, dodging past another bolt of Takami’s cloth. Fortunately the creature got a hind leg snagged on the door as it charged forward, giving Takami a second opportunity to capture her target. This cloth seemed different from the ones she had used earlier, full of spikes like the back of a porcupine. She paused a moment to be certain the Grimm was contained, it was struggling but all it seemed to be doing was opening more cuts from the cloth for its trouble.

She could spend some time figuring out where the second one was, then.

“It might still be in the living room,” Ayane said, using her brush to point to the room the Grimm had charged out of. “So let’s check this way.” Ayane stepped over to island in the middle of the kitchen and pushed a pot out of the way to clear some space. She glanced up at the caught Grimm, yep still tangled, before looking down to the counter space. Her hand moved rapidly as she first painted a cylinder, before working through finer details, a pressure switch here, a pin there, some bolts around that place. As she worked the fur of the Grimm turned from a dark black to a muted gray.

She stepped aside and let Takami to catch a glimpse of her flashbang before she scooped it up. Ayane stepped around the island and carefully moved towards their captured friend.

“I’ll pop our friend here, and we’ll stack up on the door he came out of,” Ayane said, reaching out with her paintbrush, “toss this in and hopefully we’ll stun it.”
