Ayane followed Takami through the newly opened hole-in-the-wall into a rather nice kitchen. Maybe an island like that would be nice to put into — right another time for this. By the time Ayane had walked over to the younger girl, Takami had already set about securing the room. It seemed as if whatever combat program she had been in had been a good one if she already knew to do this much. Well, might always be practical experience too, everyone has a story.

“Good job,” Ayane said in a low voice as she lightly tapped Takami’s shoulder with the back of her hand. She took a step forward, but stopped at the faint sound of nails clicking on hardhood. She rolled her paintbrush between two fingers with a frown, before motioning towards a cleft in the wall between counter space and a refrigerator. She gave Takami a quick nod.

Takami responded to the signal with a nod of her own, and quickly began preparing something, her eyes narrowing in concentration. She turned to the noise, and a silken sheet stretched out in front of her as she held her arms out, broader than any of the strips she was using before. She raised her arms and, with a flourish, she whipped up a mess of ribbons to latch onto and bind whatever it was inside the small crevice. Once she felt she had a grip, Takami finished by throwing back her arms, pulling the Grimm into the sheet and wrapping it up inside it.

Once it was done, she turned to her partner and huffed proudly. Ayane must've been impressed, that's why she didn't say anything! Well, Takami hoped she wasn't underestimating her here, with how these things went down so easily. With a skip over, she turned over and took a look at the bound and no doubt helpless beast.

“Oh cool, you caught it. Those ribbons are really nimble, huh?” Ayane said leaning forward to watch as the now-tangled Grimm was yanked out of its hidey-hole. This one seemed more placid than the first, dull yellow eyes watching the two girl from a lumpy, but oddly egg-shaped head. Ayane again pat Takami on the shoulder as she passed by her partner and ambled into the kitchen, the eyes of the Grimm following her every step. She came to a stop a few feet from the Grimm, a small frown bowing her lips.

The Grimm wriggled like a cat sizing up its prey, accompanied by a faint scratching sound. Something sharp sliding across a hard surface.

“Oh.” Ayane said, her hand with the paintbrush snapping up. With the rip of fabric, an arm of the Grimm lurched out of its binding, with a hasty jab of Ayane’s paintbrush catching it in the wrist. The vanished with a wet splash as it splashed against the refrigerator as paint. The Grimm screeched, and was swiftly silenced by a downward jab of her paintbrush against its head. From somewhere deeper in the house, a pair of snarls responded.

“Well, there goes surprise, huh?” Ayane said, taking a step back towards Takami.

Takami cringed as the sound of the dog-thing's screech rang in her ears. The pair had been fairly quiet so far, but now that their cover was blown, they'd need a new plan, and fast. With a bit of a sheepish smile, Takami turned to Ayane for a moment. "Oops. Can't be helped, huh?"

She retracted her ribbons into their invisible rolls without a stain on them before taking stock of her surroundings. The two voices she heard, their sources would be coming any minute now. The young weaver gathered magic around her fingertips. She was on a hair trigger, ready to strike from behind the entangled doors the moment something black and sinister crossed her vision.

It didn't take long for them to appear. One of them, a taller, lankier version of a wolf, darted left and right towards her, soft paws giving the thing traction and muting the sound of its movement. It pounced around Takami's first attack, getting a leg stuck in the strung-up doorway in the process. Throwing herself backwards, she took the chance to catch the shadowy thing with another twisting strip of cloth. This one was embroidered with sharp angular markings, like a page full of an unknown script. It screeched and struggled, bleeding something black and grey from its knuckles where it was caught. Takami turned to look at her partner as she tried to subdue it. "We hafta find the other one! Any clues t' where it's coming from?"

Ayane flicked her paintbrush up as as the Grimm streaked into the room, dodging past another bolt of Takami’s cloth. Fortunately the creature got a hind leg snagged on the door as it charged forward, giving Takami a second opportunity to capture her target. This cloth seemed different from the ones she had used earlier, full of spikes like the back of a porcupine. She paused a moment to be certain the Grimm was contained, it was struggling but all it seemed to be doing was opening more cuts from the cloth for its trouble.

She could spend some time figuring out where the second one was, then.

“It might still be in the living room,” Ayane said, using her brush to point to the room the Grimm had charged out of. “So let’s check this way.” Ayane stepped over to island in the middle of the kitchen and pushed a pot out of the way to clear some space. She glanced up at the caught Grimm, yep still tangled, before looking down to the counter space. Her hand moved rapidly as she first painted a cylinder, before working through finer details, a pressure switch here, a pin there, some bolts around that place. As she worked the fur of the Grimm turned from a dark black to a muted gray.

She stepped aside and let Takami to catch a glimpse of her flashbang before she scooped it up. Ayane stepped around the island and carefully moved towards their captured friend.

“I’ll pop our friend here, and we’ll stack up on the door he came out of,” Ayane said, reaching out with her paintbrush, “toss this in and hopefully we’ll stun it.”

Takami took a second look at the stun grenade Ayane has produced and nodded. The plan she suggested was a good one, but the other Grimm might move from the room if they took too long. She summoned another band of silk to bind the long-wolf's snout before dispelling the strings on the door. The wolf seemed tired and sedated as it struggled with less force than before.

After bundling up her catch for easy disposal with a few more ribbons, she paused for a moment to take a breath. This exercise was really fun! It was beginning to get winding, so she had to be a bit more careful, but she felt exhilarated as she headed towards the door to the living room. Gathering some more magic in her hand, she waited for Ayane to catch up and get ready.

And that made three, two Grimm left.

The Grimm melted away into a fine black goo as the paintbrush tapped the top of its head, it’s final surge of strength coming to little too late as Takami bound its legs and snout. She stepped around the puddle of paint and stopped next to the door as she waited for Takami to join her. Going by the sounds, Ayane felt certain that the Grimm hadn’t snuck out of the room — but would it fall for the little trick? No, chances were that it was currently watching the door for them to appear, so they should have no problem.

“You’re doing well so far,” Ayane said, “you should show me how you made the spikes with your cloth later she added with a smile. She lifted the flashbang, curled her fingers around the pressure switch as she hooked an index finger around the pin.

“I’ll throw this following a count to three. Do not look into the room until you hear it go off.” Ayane said. “Same plan as before, try to incapacitate the Grimm and I’ll finish it off. Ready?” She paused a moment for Takami to respond.

“Okay, one.” Ayane slid closer to the door. “Two.” She pulled the pin. “Three.” She leaned out from behind the wall just enough to toss the stun grenade into the room. It hit the hardwood floor with a dull clunk and slid. A low dangerous growl came from the living room, followed soon by a loud bang and bright flash.

“Now.” Ayane said, with a yawn.

Again, Takami watched as her partner gently tapped the beast with the tip of her brush. She nodded as she listened to her senior's plan. It was simple, and it'd do well for this exercise. "I'm ready, please go ahead."

Right after Ayane threw the flash grenade, it detonated with a thunderous clap, leaving Takami's ears ringing just a bit. Taking that as her signal, Takami burst into the room and found her target. This one, a tiger with three sets of legs, was roaring in rage at what it saw. Or rather, what it didn't see. The flash had blinded it, leaving the lengthened faux-animal thrashing on the floor.

In a snap, Takami decided it would be too slow to grab each limb, so she gathered her magic again, stronger this time. As she dropped into a crouch, she pulled her hand down and with it, rolls and rolls of silk and cloth sprang out of thin air above her. They arced in multiple directions into a tangle of fabric, streaming out into a net that would weigh down her target's movements. It redoubled its thrashing at the slightest touch, claws ripping a few rolls as it did. But even as its vision slowly returned, the mass of fabric pushed down onto it, slowing its movements and beginning to tangle it up. It struck a glare in her direction, even as its other legs thrashed and flailed like they weren't even connected to its head. Losing her nerve for a moment, Takami stepped back a little, looking toward her senior. "C-could you please help me out, yeah?"

A groove along the side, a utilitarian smoothness to the body, a bit of texture to the handle, don’t worry too much about how it all looks, squinting would take care of any imperfections. Ayane tucked her paintbrush behind her ear after she finished up the final few strokes and glanced back over her shoulder. Takami seemed to have the Grimm under wraps for the moment, though it looked like it was putting up more of a fight than the other girl expected.

"C-could you please help me out, yeah?" Takami asked, looking back. With a yawn and a nod Ayane turned her attention back to her doodle, or well, she sort of vaguely looked at it in the edge of vision. She reached out to her painting, her fingers brushing against cool metal. Well, that worked at least. Scooping her creation up off the table Ayane ambled over to Takami and the Grimm.

The beast snarled as she approached, or maybe that was it just continuing a snarl that had already been ongoing while it tried to untangle its long legs from the many bolts of cloth, it was hard to tell really.

“You’re doing good so far, but you should focus on limbs and joints with mobile Grimm like this.” Ayane yawned as she spoke. She lifted her right arm and aimed the pistol at the head of the Grimm. She squeezed the trigger and the gun barked, a line of red carving across the side of its head, oozing thick liquid. Ayane frowned as the Grimm swiped ineffectually at the air in her direction.

“Take a breath, and focus on how you are tangling the Grimm up, okay?” She said.
