May was starting to get a little happy by the thoughts of seeing the ruins, unlike her parents, hell anyone she'd known. She would be the first of few to see them, however, Brea turned back to her and caused her to jump a little at her tone and words. She wasn't really expecting it, and she honestly was a little anger about it. Sure the mystery there wasn't good, but at the same time no one ever went there. She frowned and attempted to say something in return when something became visible in the distance. Tall hut looking building raising high above the trees. She froze and took in the sight, it was incredible.

"Wow that's..." she couldn't think of a word to say at the view. They were like towers raising to the sky that only until now she thought birds ruled over. She knew the stories that her grandpa would tell them, they were called skyscrapers. However, the words were just not enough to give it justice.

Ray gave a nod as he reached back and tugged at his rough blade making sure it was snug, it looked like they were all leaving here soon. He had nothing other then his tools to take. Everything about his old life now was dead and he only had the thought of working more on this blade and making it fine, then and only then would he paint it red with the blood of those raiders...all the raiders.

Hey looked back as he noticed movement and watched the scene between James and Madeline. It was hard to see, but a coldness washed over him for a moment and he stepped up reaching for the grip of his crude sword. "He won't make it in the world now...I did a lot of bad last night...and I'll be doing a lot of bad from now on" he pulled the crude blade from the hilt and held it. The charred and bulky looking metal would normally be considered a club if not for the fined point beginning to take shape on one side. "Why don't you guys get James out of here" he looks at Madeline for a moment then down to Jame's uncle.

Jason watched Madeline work, she continued to amaze him but the hair on the back of his neck stood up. His sixth sense felt something, strangely, he wasn't feeling very good about Ray's posture, or tone in his voice. Jason began think through all that Ray could be thinking when Jason landed on a few conclusions that were reinforced by Ray drawing his blade. Jason's hand shifted down to rest on his own sword's hilt that was still strapped to his side. Jason sidestepped to a position beside Ray to where he could react a lot better, however, Jason never once let it show that he was prepared to react in case Ray did something irrational. His face, posture and stance revealed nothing if his intentions. He truly wanted this to play out in case what he thought was going to happen would not. Jason hoped he was wrong.

James could his blood run cold as he listened to Madeline’s analysis. For a brief moment, he was angry. Angry that he didn’t know what to do. Frustrated that Madeline had basically said that there was nothing she could do. He almost stood up, raising a few inches from his kneeling position. If James had gotten up, maybe he would have stormed off in frustration, pace back in forth, or something else along those lines. But he didn’t. Just as that emotion hit him, James knelt back down. He wasn’t going to give up, not that easily, despite how defeated he was beginning to feel.

“So, there’s nothing you can do.” He said it more as a statement and less as a question. That was James’s fear from the beginning. For now, he ignored all else and looked to the possibility of survival. James at the very least was holding on tightly to Madeline’s remark that there was a chance of survival. However slim, James would not accept failure until it was all over. “Amputation. Okay... amputation...” he more or less said to himself to reassure himself. Looking to Madeline, James asked, “If his leg was... amputated... Would you be able to do something? What supplies would you need?”

Ray had begun to share his view on this situation. His stance, while reasonable in its own right, was one a quitter in the eyes of James. As a response to Ray’s concerns, James very simply said, “He’s still alive. That’s enough of a chance in my eyes.” James was not paying Ray too much mind, trying to focus on the matter at hand. “This is my own blood. My family. I’m not going anywhere.” Whether or not things would work out, James intended to see things through to the end. He tried not to entertain the possibility of his uncle dying, but if he did... James had to be there.
