[RP] Unsolved

xxThe arrival of the White family didn't exactly go as planned. Coming into the city, a lot of people looked at Nathan with a somewhat surprised face expression, which took him by surprise because he noticed it. He didn't mind it, but he didn't expect the town to be this negative about newcomers. It was later in the day, when the police arrived at their new house, that the White's realized what exactly was going on.

xxNathan White, the one that was in the center of this police visit, was planning to spend the afternoon unpacking his boxes into his newly painted room. However, that wasn't possible, considering him and his family had to spend it at the police station, proving he wasn't Jake Sullivan.

xxThe story about a new boy, who shared a face with the famous Jake Sullivan, spread fast across the small town and even made the cover of a local newspaper the next day. Nathan couldn't wrap his head around having a twin brother and hated how he was the thing everybody was talking about. He was embarrassed about the whole situation. Nevertheless, his mother loved the reputation it brought to their family.

xxHeated arguments followed in the White household for the next few days. They were mostly between Nathan and his parents, but Nathan and Boyce also ended up in a fistfight because of some stupid thing neither of them remembers.

xxToday, however, was the 6th day of the family being in Oak Hills, and it was time to enroll Nathan into the Oak Hills High School. Because of this somewhat unusual situation, the principal asked to see Nathan before he actually started to attend classes. The whole family, except Boyce, was in the car, driving over to the high school. Everybody was there to support Nathan, and he was thankful for that.

xxSoon enough, the car engine stopped, and the family was parked in the high school parking lot. Nathan could already see most of the students talking about and looking at him. He was reluctant to leave the car, but after the long talk with his mother, he had to. He unbuckled his seatbelt and exited the car only to find even more students staring at him.

The first day of Amelia was like any other move she had experienced - well for the most part, it wasn't every move that Police Officers would come to your new house and escort you and your family (who were all new to the city) down to the police station. As soon as Amelia found out why, she herself had a hard time wrapping her head around it all - how could Nathan look exactly like that boy? And who had Jake Sullivan been ? There were more questions than answers.

The next few days after the police station, Amy had kept to herself - mostly still trying to understand the whole thing, but she was also avoiding her parents and Nathan's fights, however she had come flying from her room when she had heard Broyce and Nathan get into it - she had ripped them apart, demanding them to explain, neither one ever did.

Now Amelia walked behind her mother and father, down the high school hallways, she had graduated already, but she did miss it - a smile fluttered across her lips as she hurried up to walk beside Nathan, the reason she was here in the first place, to support her brother,"Hey kid, how you holding up? Exciting?"she asked as she bumped her hip against his in a playful fashion.
"Plan A, was marrying her a long, long, time ago. Pretty much the day I met her.

"Yeah, I'm super excited, can't wait to go back to school." Nathan said in an overly sarcastic tone of voice. The whole sarcastic act was kind of his defense mechanism against this whole unusual situation, and God knew he needed one.

As he walked down the hallways, behind his parents, he noticed more and more students whispering something to one another or taking pictures. He did mind it, but he needed it all to be over as soon as possible, so he didn't intervene. Nathan had secretly hoped this would be old news by the time this day arrived, but in a small town like Oak hills, that just wasn't possible.

Alice had, had a rough week.

How was it, that no matter how much the girl tried to run from her past, it was always catching up to her? The blonde girl walked into school with a scowl. Her school bag was slung over one shoulder, with her history book cradled in her arms. Her mother had actually bothered to drive her today, rather than send their driver to do it. Both blonde women had sat in the car, awkwardly silent. Alice’s mother had attempted to speak to Alice about the whole thing for days now, and all Alice had done was sigh heavily before retreating into her bedroom. She remembered the ping after ping of her cellphone as her friends messaged her all day and night that first day, questioning her and updating her on the whole situation. No one had told her about it, obviously. Alice had only been the girlfriend, after all. Once the police had gotten as much information out of Alice as possible two years ago, the blue eyed girl had been pushed to the side. Which made sense, of course. But it didn’t bug Alice any less. So she was forced to know about as much of the situation as the rest of the town — and that in itself was annoying. In the end, Alice wanted to see for herself. She wanted to see if this kid really did look like Jake Sullivan.

“He’s not here yet,” A curly haired brunette said as she hurried next to Alice. “He’s supposed to be starting today though. Or so I’ve heard.”

“Are you going to talk to him? I mean like... he looks like you-know-who. What if he’s exactly like him.”

“Ohmygod. That’d be so creepy! Alice will you date him too?”

“Mandy shut up! You can’t just ask her that.”

As Alice’s best friends, Mandy and Missy, the most annoying twins on this planet, continued arguing, Alice rolled her eyes and stopped at her locker. She swung the lock around and pulled open the door before shoving her things inside. She was already irritated and the day had just begun. She could hear the twins babbling about dry shampoo now, and Alice was just about to slap them both when the hallway got eerily quiet, except for the hushed voices of everyone standing around. Glancing over her shoulder, Alice felt like her heart sunk straight down her chest, through her stomach, and fell out of her butt.

It was a ghost. It had to be. It had to be a freaking ghost because there was no way that wasn’t Jake Sullivan. Alice stared. She felt Mandy shaking her arm, saying something, but Alice was flat out staring. She hadn’t kept photographs of Jake. She hadn’t kept anything of his, in fact. She had wiped the boy out of her life as much as she possibly could — except for the memories of course. Alice hadn’t realized just how much she had forgotten about Jake and how much she actually still remembered until she saw him walking down the hall, some girl next to him with two adults walking in front of him. And then Alice had to remind herself — that wasn’t Jake.

Shaking herself, Alice quickly turned back around. Staring at the little photograph of her and her father that she had glued to the back of her locker, she willed herself not to scream. It was like a cruel joke. As if Jake hadn’t completely ruined Oak Hills. As if he hadn’t ruined her life. Ruined Ezra’s life. Ruined Reiann‘s life. Now god or whoever felt like reopening the wound by bringing Jake’s doppelgänger into the mix. And Alice — well at least she was strong. At least she had picked up the pieces after the traumatizing events and moved on with her life. Other people were still struggling.

“Holy shit, he looks just like him!” Mandy was saying as she watched him continue down the hall. The girl was opened mouthed, green eyes wide. Alice suddenly really did want to slap her.

“Take a picture, it’ll last longer,” Alice snapped, and to her surprise her voice sounded even. Strong. Glancing at Nathan White one more time, Alice huffed and slammed her locker shut. “And he honestly doesn’t even look like Jake that much.”

Ezra fixed himself up off his bed and rubbed his sleepish eyes. He was quiet all morning today. He shuffed through trying to shower and get dressed but it just wasnt the same without Jake trying to speed him out of the bathroom to do his hair or run into his room to borrow a shirt. None it felt normal still. He bounced down the stairs and gave his parents a smile as he walked to the fridge. Since the funeral both of them became workaholics. His father sitting at the table nose dug in his computer his his mother frantic to get food cooked and on the table. Everything was so fast with them it took Ez a bit to slow his mind and body down.

He hopped over and sat down “Heya Dad!” He tried to seem enthusiastic. His dad gave him a smile and looked over “Hey sport, how you feelin this morning?” He asked in a mellow tone but he still had hope. “Great, just ready to go to school you know” Ezra followed up and his mother came over and with a kiss on his head set the food down. Ez looked up and smiled “Thanks mom” he greeted and looked down at the delicious full course meal under him. He started to eat the variety of food and in no time he was completely finished. This produced a smile on both his parents mouths knowing that Ezra never changed.

Ez stood up and gathered his backpack “I gotta get to school. Love you guys. Dont work to hard” he managed to say before running out of the door. He grabbed his bike and strolled through the neighborhood a little. He still kept his head up though. Because maybe he hoped that Jake was still around in spirit somewhere, then he could know what truly happened. Stopping at the school he walked his bike over to the rack and tied it up. He positioned the bag on his back and then hopped up the stairs and into school. It was loud and chaotic, people screaming, laughing, singing even. This was the thunder dome. Ez kept his head down as he moved to his locker. He found himself messing up even a simple thing like that these days. His fingers would slip all around or someone would bump him and he would pull the dial. Everyday just isnt the same anymore. He finally collected himself to do it right and started grabbing and putting away books for class. Ezra held himself higher than most of the high school kids. Not just academially but intellectually and even physically. Ezra pridded himself in keeping clean.

Ezra knew about the new kid who looked like his brother but he knew it wasnt him. The Sullivan family knew Jake and he was not him. His parents got phone calls and messages and emails by the dozens about this “Nathan White” but that didnt bother Ezra none. He lost his brother, he is not coming back. So while people gaucked at the handsome shiny new kid it didnt instantly place into Ez mind that he was Jake walking around the halls. He held his books close as he made his way through and around the halls, keeping to himself as always.

Millie could feel them, their eyes burned into the back of her head making the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. As she reached over, she gave Nate's shoulder a small squeeze,"If you need anything today, you know how to get a hold of me,"she whispered, knowing today would be a hell of a day for her younger brother.

As they came to the Principal's office, Mills came to a stop, a grin slipped on her face as she shoved her hands into her pockets,"Alright this is where I stop, I didn't like going in there when I was in school, so sorry mate, Mom and Dad have you from here,"she patted his shoulder before turning and finding a chair to sit down on in the hallway.

As she sat back, she began to look around from where she sat, many eyes were still staring at Nathan, her jaw clenched, she wanted to tell them there was nothing to see here - that her brother wasn't some murdered kid, and that they should mind their own business. However Amy knew she couldn't just yell at a bunch of random high schoolers.

"When you're a kid, you assume your parents are soulmates. My kid are gonna be right about that."

The squeeze of his shoulder caused by his sister brought Nathan back to reality. Even though his family has been walking for less than a minute, in Nathan's head it felt like hours. Every bad thought he had in the last few days came back and he just couldn't take his mind off of them. It was like he had a panic attack, but it didn't show on the outside. In one word, it was terrifying.

He looked at his sister, a little bit of sweat covering his forehead. He wiped it off and smiled at her. She was the only person in this whole situation who actually helped him in any way. With his parents keeping secrets from him, and his younger brother not completely understanding the situation, she was the only one he could truly rely on.

---

As his sister sat down in the hallway and said goodbye to him, Nathan and his parents entered the principal's office and were greeted by an older man, sitting in a dark green leather chair. That was clearly the principal, Mr. Talhound. Nathan, his mom, and his dad were seated in the same colored chairs, just across Mr. Talhound.

---

After talking with the principal about the schedules, missed exams and Nathan's locker situation, it was time for the awkward topic that was on everyone's mind during the whole conversation; the Jake Sullivan situation.

"Judging by the whole situation, being what it is, I think the best thing right now would be to introduce Nathan to people that were closest to Jake. That way, there won't be any awkward incidents happening in the halls of the school. I'm not forcing Nathan to do anything, but as I said, I strongly recommend it. " The principal said, and Diana White, Nathan's mom sucked up every word. She exclaimed and said that she thinks it's a brilliant idea.

Nathan, however, didn't completely agree. He did think it would be appropriate to meet these people, but he wasn't Jake. He didn't want to pretend to be Jake. He is Nathan White. The nerdy guy who loves to read books and debate with people. He wasn't some popular guy everybody knew. Well, nobody knew him before, but now, everybody does.

As Nathan and what were presumably his parents disappeared into the school office, the rush of noise and whispers came back. Everyone was talking about him. Wondering if it was Jake back from the dead or really some random kid that just looked exactly like the Oak Hills celebrity dead boy. That would have been fine, if it weren’t for the fact that some of the masses were also talking about her and her reaction. Alice clenched her hand into a fist, digging her nails into her palm to keep from telling everyone to shut up.

Mandy and Missy were also talking, saying something about how Nathan was hot as hell and debating whether the girl with him was his girlfriend or relative. As Alice dug her cellphone out of her bag, she checked the time before waving away her minions. “Save me a seat in English. I have something to do before class.” She had exactly fifteen minutes before class started. She didn’t know where Ezra or Reiann usually hung about, but as she continued down the hall, she spotted Ezra from behind as he moved around groups of people, who were also, unsurprisingly, watching him and whispering about Jake and his doppelgänger.

“Hey, Ez!” Alice clutched her English book as she hurried to catch up, falling into stride with the older boy. She glanced at him before looking down at the ground. She tended to avoid Ezra. In all the time since Jake had gone missing and then found dead, Alice had made sure to avoid him and Reiann. She wasn’t all that great at making people feel better. “I just wanted to, like, say something. About — you know,” Alice wrinkled her nose in frustration, wishing she was better at being nice. “Anyway, you know how people in Oak Hills are. They love to gossip. So I just wanted to make sure everything was okay. I know that I haven’t really said anything since.. Jake. But I dunno. I just. Wanted to make sure you were okay, I guess. Yeah.” Alice realized she sounded just as lame as she felt, and suddenly wished she hadn’t said anything. A gaggle of girls were huddled by a locker, watching them both while pretending to talk about who knows what. Alice shot them a glare and they quickly looked away.

Ezra was shuffling around and before he knew it in front of him was Alice, a familiar face in the crowd of people that associated with his brother. He tightened his jaw and took a huge sigh “Yeah, hi Alice” he kept it short. People around them were glaring and he felt it all around but he found it comforting for her to dismiss them with one look. He knew she wasnt something to mess with. Jake would test her sometimes and would come to his big brother regretting it in no time. Ezra smiled a bit at the thought but took a look down at the younger but obviously higher position than him in this school he put a hand on her shoulder “Im doin good kid, we all miss em. But he would want us to move on” he tried to calm the situation “Ya know Jake, he didnt want no one worrying too much about him. He told me all the time, though I was never too good at that part” he added and smirked and looked around and then down at his nicely fitted boots, noticing he was talking a little too much thay he normally was. But he knew he had to help Alice just as much as his parents, especially being older than her, even though he knew she was holding herself well. But he found it strange her talking to him after she didnt usually unless it was for money sometimes or help on homework but that was usually always with Jake by her side. Not to see Jake with his arm around him he felt it tug at his stomach in a sharp pain.

Amelia was becoming more and more increasingly aware just how much this thing had really believed that her brother - was some murdered kid. Standing up, she rubbed her eyes, as she walked down the hall slightly until she cane to a display case filled with pictures, trophies and other things the school wanted to show off. Amy's eyes scanned the pictures, looking for the boy who would have shared the same face as her own brother, her eyes stopped immediately on a picture of a group of boys, it looked like a team of some sort, but there he was, front and centre, she leaned in for a better view - not realizing she had an audience herself.

Before she could even see any of them coming, a small group huddled near by made their way over to her, what came next made her skin crawl a little,"He isn't safe here ya know... Jake ended up dead.. so will he..."

Her eyes snapped from the picture, however she didn't see who had come up at all, the voice had passed right by her, speaking quickly - she looked around, down both ends of the hallway, but students moved everywhere, what the fuck?she thought as she looked back at Jake's picture.

"I'm a midnight toker. I sure don't want to hurt no one."
