What is "Gun Gale Online"?

Gun Gale Online, commonly abbreviated as GGO, is one of the highest-rated best-selling VR-MMO-RPG titles on the market ever since the recent technological innovation of the Amusphere. Released in 2025, the game immediately received positive attention from media and avid gamers. Its unique gritty post-apocalyptic setting and firearm-based combat proved to be an extremely attractive idea, drawing in a massive amount of fans. Since then, its player count has rapidly grown and currently shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.
Image
The Setting and Story

The game is set on a post-apocalyptic Earth, caused by the outbreak of a great and terrible war many decades ago. Technology has advanced to the space age - laser guns, holograms, cybernetic implants, and other developments once thought unfeasible are now possible through science. Mankind had returned in spaceships to restore civilisation to the planet, however dreary and deteriorated their world had become. However, various monsters and predators now roam the wastelands and lurk in ruins and rubble - Countless species of biological killing machines evolved from the harsh environment of post-war Earth, some even being extraterrestrial. They hunt and roam around for their chance to prey on lonely, defenceless humans who dare to venture out into the inhospitable wasteland that had become of their once-lushious home... It is fortunate then, that humans learn quickly and never leave home unarmed.

Locations of Interest

SBC Glocken
SBC Glocken is the enormous spaceship-turned-city humanity arrived back on Earth in, SBC being an acronym for Space Battle Cruiser. It is the one and only capital city on the entirety of Earth thus far. Underneath its belly, away from the bulk of its population and infrastructure, lies twisting tunnels and massive underground city ruins teeming with hostile creatures, AWOL automatons... and valuable unclaimed loot many players strive to obtain.

The city is the only location with access to ample electricity and technology to sustain an entire civilization. The spawn point of the game for new players lies directly in the center of it. Within the city are shops of many kinds, most notably firearm dealerships, custom weapon smithies, and general post-apocalypse equipment depots. For the aesthetic-conscious players, there are also the occasional tailoring workshops or pay-per-spray paint machines. SBC Glocken provides all you could possibly need to start braving the treacherous terrains of Earth!

Mission Kiosks
With the state of the Earth as it is, humanity needs skilled and able-bodied workers to carry out tasks needed for survival and development. This is what Mission Kiosks are for - Providing players with a range of such and giving them in-game currency or virtual items as payment, not unlike usual MMORPG games. It is involved in a substantial amount of activities in GGO. Usually crowded at all times of day by players looking to reap bountiful rewards, Mission Kiosks are found all over SBC Glocken in the form of sleek green computer terminals, complete with a helpful virtual AI assistant to aid you in whatever you are looking for.

Examples of missions include raiding bandit territory, culling monster population, escorting VIPs, retrieving important items, or perhaps most dangerous of all, completing dungeons.

Players can choose what specific mission they take on and will not have tasks forced upon them (with the exception of tutorials or global events). Some choose to accomplish missions by themselves, while others form a party of at least two other players to clear the mission together. Missions taken by a group of people have their difficulty automatically amped up to account for extra players, but in turn have much more generous bounties.

The Badlands
Desolate, hostile, and deadly, The Badlands are probably not the best of places to host a birthday party at. Keep an ear out while you visit - They are home to Sandworms and other ground-burrowing creatures that thrive in its sifting sands and love to sneak up on players unwary of their tell-tale underground tremors. Less sneaky but nonetheless deadly monsters that also live here include scorpions, scarabs, and giant birds of prey that pick up players with a single talon and drop them to a messy, pixely death from up high.

The unwelcoming environment isn't the only thing you should be worrying about, however. The Badlands is a well-renowned haunt for unscrupulous players or NPC bandits looking to make a quick buck by robbing others, or even kill indiscriminately for fun. Big rock formations, sand dunes, and other forms of cover are all too common in the Badlands, making for challenging firefights.

Weaponry, Equipment, and Combat Features

An apocalyptic setting is nice and all, but most players find the meat of Gun Gale Online more appealing - in short, the guns and combat. Who doesn't love looking at grand explosions or listening to the pleasing melody of staccato gunfire? The weapons system is arguably the main appeal of GGO, with the most sophisticated options and diverse collection of firearms among all other gun-based VRMMOs. Firefights in GGO are a thrilling experience that cannot be replicated in other games, as hard as said games may try.

GGO firearms were made to be realistic representations of their real life counterparts, incorporating accurate models and mechanisms as well as simplifying workings slightly to retain the fun value of shooting them. Additional features were also added to accommodate the more casual and fantasy-genre oriented players.

Image
Bullet Lines
To give extra depth to skirmishes, the ability to predict and see the path of bullets about to be fired was added to all players in the form of a vibrant cherry-red line. This gives players with good enough reflexes to dodge out of the way or, if they feel exceptionally lucky or skilled, to block the bullet. The line only appears to other players if they've spotted you, allowing for surprise attacks. Make your first shots count!
- - - - -
Image
Image
Bullet Circles
If you have ever tried firing a gun in real life, you would know that shooting accurately from a distance is deceptively harder than movies make it out to be. GGO rectifies this common frustration with a feature called Bullet Circles - A circular aiming reticle in your vision that shows you in which area your bullets will hit when aiming a firearm with your finger on the trigger. This circle expands and contracts, affecting accuracy, the size of which is affected by factors such as movement, position, wind, and, most significantly for long range marksmen, heart rate.

Putting your finger on the trigger of a gun also triggers a Bullet Line effect, which can potentially give away your position. It is possible to press the trigger straight away when shooting in order to not have a Bullet Line, but this also removes the assistance of the Bullet Circle.

Weapon Types
Gun Gale Online has a massive array of weapons to choose from, but these are mainly divided into two different categories:
Image

Optical Guns are usually the type of armaments you would expect to find in some sort of alien spaceship, which is incidentally also one of the ways to obtain them in game. They consist of laser blasters, electric rifles, plasma grenades, and even light sabers. Optical Guns are mainly used and deal extra damage against monsters and mobs, and while they can also be used in player-versus-player combat they can easily be nullified with common forcefield units or specialised armor. They fire light-based ammunition and are usually less heavy, more accurate than other guns, and styled more outlandishly.
Image

Live-Ammunition Guns are the opposite of Optical Guns. They are mainly used by those who often partake in player-versus-player combat due to their ability to bypass shields and other means of defense with much better ease than Optical Guns. A good portion of firearms in this category are also taken directly from real world counterparts, such as the popular Glock pistol or the infamous Kalashnikov rifle. Live-Ammunition Guns are also a good bit heftier and less accurate than Optical Guns, so be sure to keep that in mind when selecting one.

Tools, Supplies, and Gadgets
Despite the name, Gun Gale Online is not purely limited to firearms in terms of equipment and weapons. While doubtlessly rare and expensive, options such as deployable barriers, riot shields, grenade launchers, flamethrowers, bazookas, cloaking tech, and even plasma swords are available to players not satisfied with mere handguns and shooting irons. These can be obtained by defeating tough bosses, completing rare quests, or simply buying them for exorbitant prices at a shop.

There are also more mundane, general-purpose ones that no player should be without. Fragmentation or plasma grenades are usually available to purchase nearly anywhere, and medikits can save lives. One could also purchase items along the lines of rappelling cords, extended magazines, tactical knives, optical head-mounted displays, firearm attachments, and smoke bombs.
- - - - -
Carry Weight
Image

In order to prevent players from abusing the inventory system or carrying an unrealistic/overpowered amount of equipment, the Carry Weight feature was added. Carry Weight is a measure of how much equippable gear your character is able to have on them at any given time. Not to be confused with the Strength Requirement required to live heavy weapons, Carry Weight is fixed and cannot be changed through levelling up or putting points into stats.

All players have a maximum Carry Weight of 10, and all non-standard weapons are assigned a Carry Weight value between 1 to 10. All equipment a player has will be counted by the game system to ensure the combined Carry Weight values are below 10. If the value exceeds 10, the player's mobility will become severely limited. A medium to extreme movement penalty is applied to a character depending on how much they go over the limit by. Refer to the list of Carry Weight values here.
Image
Stats and Skills

Stats, short for statistics, are a way of measuring how good your character is at something. There are currently six different types of stats that, when increased, improve the player's abilities or qualities:

AGI (Agility) - Rate of fire, evasion, and speed
DEX (Dexterity) - Gun stability, bullet circle, trap use
LUC (Luck) - Critical hits, rare loot, mildly affects all stats
SEN (Sensibility) - Better visualisation of bullet lines, danger sense, trap detection
STR (Strength) - Bulkiness, physical strength, gun size limit, armor limit
VIT (Vitality) - Player hitpoints

Players have 20 points to spend on statistics, with a maximum of 7 points in any one stat. Try and spend your points on something that will fit your character's role!

Skills are temporary abilities your character has access to. These abilities can range from deploying temporary hardlight shields to having an increase in your rate of fire for a short amount of time. A lot of skills are possible - ask the GGO developers if your custom skill is viable for your character to have.

RP Rules

*
<>*No autohitting / attacking another character without giving them a chance to dodge.
("Shooting at someone's chest" VS "Shooting someone's chest")
*
<>*Coarse language is fine, but try and keep it minimal.
*
<>*Try and keep things somewhat realistic, no double-backflip 3600 dual wield noscopes or matrix-dodging every bullet shot at you.
*
<>*Be cool: Your characters can be rude or standoffish, but make sure they can actually work with others for the sake of the RP.
*
<>*This is a literate RP - Please proofread your post for errors (spelling, capitalisation, run-on sentences, continuity, etc.) before posting to avoid angering the great grammar gods and bringing shame upon your family name.
*
<>*Try and keep character equipment balanced and under the Carry Weight maximum. While the story would be fun with dual rocket launchers, plasma grenade spam and invincible armor, it wouldn't be fun for everyone would it?
*
<>*Violating any of the rules makes you a silly dumdum head.

Character Sheet
- BACKGROUND -
USERNAME:
_koinen

GENDER:
F

PERSONALITY:
A bit of a competitive gal, Koinen believes herself to be an above-average player. She tries to be serious all the time and keep a straight poker face when around others, but sometimes fails and briefly loses composure. Koinen knows when to be serious and thinks of herself as a team player, often preferring to serve as a distraction to her enemies so her allies can have an opening or readily offering up a healing item without hesitation. However, she also (sometimes unfairly) expects the same in return from her other teammates.
PvP is something Koinen has a little bit of experience in, and although she does enjoy it when she gets in a properly competitive mood she would rather stick to killing monsters and completing missions.

BIOGRAPHY:
Koinen is somewhat of a freelance player. Originally starting off her GGO career as a solo mission taker, she was soon invited to join a small party of tight-knit players looking for an extra member. From then on, she and the party habitually completed missions together for increased rewards and loot. Koinen ended up learning much of her tactics and game knowledge while playing with them.
After a few months of their now familiar schedule however, Koinen was very surprised and displeased when the party had informed him they were going to disband soon. Apparently they had enlisted into the military in real life and had initially joined GGO figuring the game would be good practice for them in the real world. Bidding them a crestfallen farewell, Koinen soon perked up again after she realised joining other parties was an option. Dozens of mostly successful missions with groups of players later, she had built a decent reputation for herself as a good teammate if you found yourself temporarily lacking a member.

- LOADOUT -

GENERAL ROLE:
Detection/Diversion

PRIMARY WEAPON:
A G36 with an integrated scope
(shown in image)

SECONDARY WEAPON:
A Mateba Autorevolver
Image

EQUIPMENT:
1 Medi-vial, 2 decoy grenades, 2 concussion grenades, 1 hand-held radar
Image

APPEARANCE:
Image
Koinen loves her high collar. Her grenades are safely secured to her upper arms, her sole Medi-vial stored in pocket on the back of her belt, and her radar is tucked into her leftmost front pocket.

EXTRA (Optional):
Koinen's radar can detect heat signatures of any entities within short distances, allowing her to become less prone to surprise attacks. At close distances, Koinen's favourite tried-and-true tactic is to hide behind cover and stealthily throw decoy grenades to draw her enemy's attention to fake gun fire, then shoot them with a burst of real gunfire from behind.

Her collar is also very effective in masking the fact that she chuckles at bad jokes.

Character Sheet
- BACKGROUND -
USERNAME:
ilith

GENDER:
F

PERSONALITY:
She wanted 'Lilith' but it was taken, and adding letters is stupid, so Ilith it was. She believes that the most important stat is accuracy and that she's the most awesome player ever because her ACC stat is way up there. Ilith likes being part of a team, even though as a sniper she's not right there in the fray - but that just gives her more time to make awesome puns and wordplay, which people don't appreciate nearly as much as they ought to.

Her favorite part of the game is going up against a big boss-type with a good team and doing awesome damage and not getting hit. With a good team, Ilith shouldn't get hit, like, ever, and if she does, then someone isn't doing their job.

She hates PvP, because people always want to get up close for that and whine when you drop them from halfway across the map without warning. Monsters are way more fun.

BIOGRAPHY:
Ilith joined with a friend of hers who wanted to play, and then kept playing after the friend quit. She's bounced between a couple teams and never really found the right one, but she's hoping she'll find one soon that appreciates her skills - or at least that appreciates her puns. She's usually a very helpful member of the team, but gets frustrated because she often feels like she's forgotten about because she's in the distance and not right up close in the action with the rest of the team. This has led to some in-game drama with her not getting invited to a few chats and ending up leaving a couple teams and looking for new ones that will actually value her the way she deserves.

- LOADOUT -

GENERAL ROLE:
Sniper

PRIMARY WEAPON:
RJP 3874 Sniper rifle (projectile)

SECONDARY WEAPON:
E-23-19 Sniper rifle (energy bolt)

EQUIPMENT:
1 thruster pack (4), 1 grappling hook (4), 2 smoke grenades (2 net)

APPEARANCE:
Image

STATISTICS:
AGI (Agility) - 1
DEX (Dexterity) - 7
LUC (Luck) - 3
SEN (Sensibility) - 1
STR (Strength) - 7
VIT (Vitality) - 1

SKILLS:
Accurate Advantage: Cuts the diameter of the targeting circle in half for the next shot - cooldown 10s
???: ???

EXTRA (Optional):
Ilith believes in the fine art of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," which is why both her primary and secondary weapons are sniper rifles, and why she carries two different types of mobility enhancing gear. Her goal in a fight is to fire from far enough away that she's never in any actual combat, and if the combat gets too close, get the heck out and reposition. Despite her being off in the distance, she's always there for her team and would never actually abandon them.

Since she spends all her time using sniper weapons, she is extremely good with them, and knows their targeting zones like the back of her hand, which allows her, when calm and focused, to snap off a high powered sniper shot without even waiting for the targeting circle. It's a great way to start a fight... or to end one. Naturally sniper rifles don't fire as quickly as some other weapons, so she'll consider each shot carefully while she waits for her reload timer.

She relies on a team because someone has to keep the enemy busy so they don't get close enough to do something awful like actually hit her.

I... think I like it like that. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions or things to touch up.

USERNAME:
I_was_Ungraceful(tells people to call him Grace)

GENDER:
M

PERSONALITY:
Grace is a hardcore roleplayer who atleast tries to keep in character, except for when he pulls and all nighter and starts to not give a fuck. Grace role-plays as a man with little to lose which is why he mainly attempts flashy stealth kills and poses everytime he gets killed, it's also why he sits at Cafe tables pretending to pout while inbetween queues for matches. Despite his actions Grace is quiet only speaking when he sees an opportunity to flesh out his "rich backstory" or build his persona through the death of a comrade or other major event and once night hits he doesn't even want to talk about himself anymore, instead he becomes a video gaming beast focusing all the brain power he can muster on the game. It's fair to say Grace's real life personality is a complete mystery, but his online personality is best described as suicidal and melancholy yet deeply caring for his friends. Grace enjoys morning his loses in team battles as if they were actual war zones with a thousand miles stare, growning on and on about how he's getting too old for this and most of all getting badass knife kills all in the name of role play.

BIOGRAPHY:
Grace unlike most people who played GGO went in completely blind at first, but that was actually on a different account. The account I_was_ungraceful is actually the 13 account created by the same teenage boy and by far his favourite. His entire build and load out are finely tuned to his play style and min maxed to create a unique yet under powered class the teenage boy known as Grace would call: The maze runner. He created the maze runner strikely with the intentions of creating a build that could turn the enemies own base against them and specialized in close quarters combat incase he bumped into anyone while setting up traps. Grace could have easily completed his build by doing missions but instead he chose pking in the monster infested deserts because he found it to be the most fun for him until he reached his desired level then switched to pvp.

APPEARANCE:

@illirica I've accepted your CS, the double sniper is alright in my book because that's her only type of firearm now lol

@FRICK (gonna call you that to preserve my cool and good no-no word aversion), your carry weight so far is one over the limit (Binoculars = 1, grapple = 4, nail bomb = 1, combustion = 1, trip wire kit = 4, total 11). I recommend removing a grenade maybe? I assume you're gonna add the Biography and Appearance sections soon so I won't mind that for now too.

 Wait if the weapon shoots a smoke screen upon firing that's gonna be a tad problematic for any teammates who are snipers... Reckon you can change that pretty please?
