Melody's Musings

I press tooth on tooth
And drag
Mind the gap - between
How I act and what I mean
And what they say to me.
Each word - in one ear
But the other lays empty
Piling somewhere in the works
Weighing murky waters
Sloshing in a mind unheard.
What is this worth, to me?
Anxiety and ankle-grind
Nipping at my heels
Wheeling head -
Foot by foot across the line
Until I lie, worn and weary
At the corners of their eyes.

Do you recall at all that time
When, time and time again, you asked
If such divine a dream could pass?
I told you then, bold and brash
That even if the moon came crashing
Down in course of certain doom
In the lethal rain of white
And dust and light and flaming rock
I would not falter by your side?
I lied.
The glow ignites in the atmosphere
Descending pale, the night sky tears
And you - in grey - await the crash
Beside the others, sharing fear
While I just smile and laugh.
