THE WATCHERS ON THE WALLS
.
In every circle of the esoteric, from the few corners of the world left where the supernatural thrives to dimmed bars where monster play at being men, there is a word synonymous with death. A name that elicits venomous glares and agitated murmuring. The Majutsushi Goroshi. The Boogeymen of Reapers. Weidmann. For when man could not contend with the threat of devils and witches, to eradicate the plight of demons, they crafted their own. Alchemically perfected tool of slaughter, dogmatic in their pursuit of mass genocide. Driving the unholy to the brink of extermination and chasing the terrors of the night so far from the age of man they found even they could not return. Trapped in eternal conflict and remaining devoted to their duty even as they slowly began to fade.

Now, but one remains. A young boy blind to the world around him. Unaware of the question he is fated to answer, the question of whether the world still truly needs the Weidmann.

When faced with the question of how to renew their numbers, the clan of germanic hunters knew mere recruitment would not suffice. The answer they found was artificial insemination, a process much like the one used in crafting homunculus. Giving them the ability to alter the infant as it grew, ensuring its body possessed the requisite strength to perform its duty as a hunter. It is for this reason that Leonhardt's birth was a complete anomaly. For not only was the Scion of Silver not treated with auxiliary enhancement, but he is also the first recorded Weidmann to be birthed through a natural method something which left the boy as something akin to a halfbreed. As the unstable and self-destructive genes of his father seemed tempered and mellowed by those gained from the mother. A blend which results in the hereditary augmentations of the Weidmann appearing only faintly within the child, such as his keen sense of smell and abnormally good night vision.

More than simply lacking in strength Leonhardt's mixed blood has served to cancel out some of the Weidmann's more problematic flaws as well. As while his health is far from free of complications none of them pose a strict timer on his life. Now whether or not his reckless nature allows him to take advantage of his extended lifespan is another matter altogether.

Progenitor's Blade
The Weidmann Bloodline can attribute their continued success and pedigree in the field of monster-hunting even in a world where monsters seem all but extinct to several things. However, the major element is unquestionably the quality of their armaments. While the full extent of artifacts and relics they have at their disposal is nearly impossible to pin down, there is one tool that a Weidmann is rarely seen without. Their bidenhänder created for the express purpose of obliterating monsters and their ilk.

Unlike most of the previous Weidmann, Leonhardt's sword is one that was handed down to him, not crafted by himself. The blade was instead given to him by his father, however, given Erhardt's constant maintenance when it came to his sword the quality of the blade has remained more or less the same. As a Weidmann's contracts are typically to hunt down and slay either mages or monsters, the blade has been crafted in order to best neutralize both of these threats. On a purely physical level, the blade is molded out of silver and meteoric iron. These two elements making up two of the most effective metals for slaying beasts, rendering it deadly to both conventional monsters, daemons, spirits, the fae, and celestials. However, it is when one looks to the hilt of the blade that its strength against the arcane becomes clear. Crafted out of whalebone and covered in runes and inscriptions with a Crystalline Drake shard at its core it serves as one of the best tools for breaking through magical guards. Able to not only cleave through arcane objects and shields dispelling them instantaneously but going so far as to absorb spells or esoteric energy generated in its radius.

Yet such a heavy emphasis on stopping both mages and monster has left the sword fairly mediocre when compared to common blades. Its silver composition makes the blade much softer than traditional steel. However, as it is still a massive blade when compared to the typical arming sword and even most longswords. This reach combined with intense training the Weidmann go through, this weaker blade can still prove a threat to be reckoned with. Even still, Weidmann will often bring a simple sidearm to accompany them on the off chance they encounter a threat that requires a more conventional weapon.

While Erhardt's blade is fearsome, it's current wielder is not quite the whirlwind of white and silver his father was. His young age, lack of the convention Weidmann augmentations, and use of a blade longer than him, substantially limits his ability to use the weapon to its full potential.

Skadi
While known for their ability to counter mages while close up, not all fights can be won by charging in, blade at the ready. Typically the Weidmann avoided using long-range weapons, however, Erhardt seemed to scoff at the face of this tradition, some claiming that at one point he used a high-powered laser to obliterate a target. While that particular weapon has yet to be seen in Leonhardt's possession, he does use the bow Skadi.

Named after the old northern goddess of the hunt, Skadi is a Holmegaard bow used in situations where it's better to stay at range. The base bow itself is made of elm, with iron braces and covers in critical locations. Even without its enhancements, it is still a rather well-made bow when compared to others like it, if not lacking in the efficiency found in compound bows. However, it is when it's enhancements come into play that the Skadi becomes worthy of its name. Able to tap into the dormant Gift that flows through Leonhardt's veins the bow can augment any arrows loaded onto them. This allows his shots to carry with them any elemental dosage he desires, along with the bow's signature dreyrugr arrow. An arrow capable of placing a crippling curse upon whoever the shot connects with. A curse that causes profuse bleeding and weakens the bearers muscles, making tracking much easier on the side of the hunter.

Throughout human history, there have been countless legendary swords, Caladbolg, Masamune, Gram, and of course Excalibur. Common mythology places each of these weapons as different, each with their own quirks and legends. However, there exists a theory. That at the core of all these stories about mystical swords there is one. The inspiration behind the myth. One blade possessing power beyond compare, a single sword strong enough to decide the victor of a war, a weapon befitting the king of kings. This blade is the Root of All Legends, or its true name, Drakengard, the Original Sword in the Stone.

The line between fiction and reality can be blurry, and while it may not be the all-powerful weapon stories make it out to be. The myths behind Drakengard get one thing right, it is a blade beyond compare. It possesses the property of unequivocal existence, existing on a level above most objects. It would not be wholly inaccurate to imagine the weapon itself as less of an actual blade but more of the metaphysical construct of Perfection projection into the shape of a blade. Thus it goes without saying that a blade of such caliber would not only be indestructible but nigh unstoppable once swung. There is little that it cannot cut, and after enough exposure, it can learn to cut what it cannot. Not because the metal itself grows sharper, but because it is the essence of superiority. It stands above the rest, and when an equal is found, Drakengard grows to overcome it.

Beyond being physically indomitable, the blade itself possess one magical ability, a gift core to its nature as the Root of All Legends. It possesses the ability to recall and imbue itself with the traits of legends. Whether that means coating itself in the holy destructive light of Excalibur or even the righteous flames of Dyrnwyn. Yet at the end of the day, even a blade of Drakengard's caliber is useless in the hands of a novice and how effective the weapon is will largely depend on how skilled Leonhardt becomes. However if there does come a day where he is to truly master the blade, there is a chance that much like the blade he will become a fighter without equal. The avatar of perfect swordplay.

ARMOR

The Azure Fleece
The goal of a Weidmann is to generally avoid getting hit as much as possible, but it never hurts to be prepared. So when it comes to dealing with mages and other supernatural beings the hunters invest in some of the best defenses they can without slowing themselves down. A hybrid armor with silver and refined meteoric steel alloy used for the chain mesh and dragon leather covering the rest, the armor of a First Order Weidmann has no recorded incidents where it was cut through. While it was vulnerable to blunt weaponry, it still proved to make the hunters nigh immune to swords, claws, and other lashing instruments. However, this is not the armor Leonhardt uses.

As the only known set of full Weidmann armor was built for Erhardt, Leonhardt is far too young to fit into it. As such he is currently wearing the trainee attire given to Weidmann while they hone their skills. While far from the defensive powerhouse of the typical armor, it still does a fairly good job of protecting its wearer. While the light tunic worn over is nothing but cloth, the white shirt under it is woven from a mythic sheep hide provided by Erhardt. While the exact source of the sheep in unknown, the enhancement it grants is a powerful one. As rather than defend its wearer by blocking a strike, it instead bends time at the point of contact. A method of defense that can even scale the most powerful of blows down to something far more manageable.

Cloak of Abundance
Fished out from the deepest depths of the Weidmann archives, this innocent-looking piece of fabric has gotten the youngest hunter out of -and in to- more trouble then he can count. This enchanted cloak possessed a blessing similar to those found within the more common bags of holding. Capable of storing an almost endless amount of items within the inside of the cloak itself, allowing its wearer to pluck weapons and tool out from a tremendous stockpile so long as they think to pack ahead.

The second boon the cloak bares and something Leonhardt has used to escape several sticky situations is the ability for the hood to render its wearer invisible. For as soon as the hood is drawn over one's face, them and whatever trace they might leave behind abruptly vanishes. However, this seemingly on-demand invisible does come with limitations, chiefly its iron tight five-minute timer. Allowing only five-minutes of use a day before the power fades so that it may recharge itself. This time can be split up however the user sees fit, however, no matter how finely divided this time limit stays the same.

SPELLS

As beings crafted from monster to slaughter monsters, it's no surprise that when tasked with executing magus the Weidmann adopted their own form of magecraft. However ever pragmatic in their ways, the idea of devoting decades for every hunter to learn basic spells proved far too impractical given their limited lifespans. So rather than teaching the mind how to cast spells, they sought to teach the body. Implanting an artificial circuit within the nape of a hunter's neck, capable of producing and directing the flow of magical energy. However, every once in a blue moon there is a Weidmann born without the need to a false circuit. Those born with a truly infinite wellspring of power surging within them, a trait known as the Gift. Leonhardt is the fifth Weidmann to be born with this trait, however, the surface of what he can accomplish with it has barely been scratched. As unbeknownst to his father while he attempted to teach his Gifted son, Erhardt had only restricted the child's ability. As while he taught the boy to focus his power through his circuit in the same what Erhardt himself performed magic, the Gift erases such a need. Instead, this method of teaching taught Leonhardt to exert a significant sum of energy to create his own temporary circuit before attempting to channel a spell through it. A ridiculously ineffective process that would frustrate even the most novice of genuine spell casters. The fact that the hunter is able to summon forth any magic at all is a testament to how powerful the Gift is, and how powerful it may truely become once it's bottleneck has been removed.

Lohe
By far the most used spell in his arsenal, Lohe causes flames to erupt from his palm. These flames can either come out as a stream of fire or a quick burst. The first is better for pinning down monsters, while the latter is better for groups of smaller beasts or men. The heat these flames produce are hot enough to melt steel, provided it's used long enough. However, the quick burst is normally just enough to cause third-degree burns and ignite clothes and armor.

Fangen
The second and more situation spell that the Weidmann are trained to cast in Fangen. A spell that forms a hexagon around the caster. For the next minute any ethereal creature, like a ghost, spirit, or phantom will not only become corporeal but will be unable to leave. If used on the living it will have little to no effect. Unless they are being possessed or haunted. In which case the ghost or spirit will be forced to remain inside, but the host can pass through unharmed. This field will also stifle any esoteric powers these spirits or others might have that could free them from the trap. While not useful in negating offensive magic it can keep whatever it's cast around sealed.

Schutz
Just in case his armor fails to protect him. The last spell that Leonhardt has is Schutz, a spell that forms either a heavy or light shield around him. The light shield can be applied in one motion and will remain active until it is broken through. As the name implies it can't take too much punishment but is a nice boost to defense when needed. Second is his heavy shield, this shield can take much more damage than the last one but is harder to maintain. In order to keep it active, he must focus his energy and give up attacking while it is active. Because of this, it is more used to protect himself against large-scale attacks that he can't risk trying to dodge. Both shields act as a complete barrier, stopping any spells or attacks that target anything inside of them.

IC probably the Forest of Obsolescence. OOC, all you gotta do is ask. The team is just coming together, looks like it's going to be Tyria (me), Arthur (Deus Mortis), Azai (Buttery Pancake), and maybe Sebastien (Sebastien).
