Name: Haruka Fuyuko Koumori

Alias: The Lotus, Daughter of The Lotus

Age: 18

Hair Color: Obsidian

Eyes: Bronze

Height: 5'8

Weight: 120

Alignment: Evil by association

Religion: Cult of The Black Lotus

Bio (abridged version): Born to the clandestine leader of the Black Lotus Haruka was one of the few to be raised in the ways of the clan from the very start. A religious doctrine centering around death and risks intended to craft the upper echelon of assassin. From the earliest moment possible Haruka was brought up within the criminal syndicate and intended to be made into a killer. The Lotus clan has always been intended to be not the kingpins or political pillars themselves. But rather the ones only the wealthiest of such can afford. Recently however Haruka has been allowed more freedom to follow her adopted father's teachings and try to be an individual. At her heart however the way of the Lotus is an inescapable doctrine.

Skills: an expert at various martial arts, weapons, driving, stealth, lock picking, breaking and entering, demolitions, and a deep understanding of criminal activity

Powers:

The Credence Of The Lotus

Ideally one is close to the dead, they fight like their life is without value but fight like they value living. In a contradiction of a statement they find meaning, that to truly perform their tasks they have to be willing to die. To excel they have to want to continue living. Because of this they are expendable, they are to some cheap, they are a bargain bin killer one can invest in without concern and lose with just as little concern. In death however the Black Lotus find meaning, as it offers the chance of returning and defying death. They find composure in the heart of conflict face almost everything without a shred of fear. For death's embrace is all they long for as the challenge is all they crave a freedom from pain is welcome, but the engrained lust for combat has them only afraid of letting a life draw to it's end.

Through arts presumably in relations to chakra and spiritual energies there is a seven paths each member comes to know. They call these Chances, a gambled possibility of things happening in a peculiar way that benefits them. Each reflecting on some of the over all ideals and training they undergo. With age the odds decrease of how likely a chance will be in it's success. In addition ones belief in the customs of this cult plays a large factor into how likely their chances are, and most will never live to see their chances properly excel. In addition to this the Chances work better with humans alone, people with mutations or additional powers often will fall to a dependency on those as opposed to the proper faith.

Chance of Resilience

To survive combat as a member of the Lotus one has to be close to the way they came into the world. Constantly willing to come closer to death herself. To weather attacks as the person they are and not as someone protected by armor and layers. For this reason the fabric is often light and skin tight, it doesn't protect against much besides weather as anything beyond that is against their faith. To excel in combat one should be as comfortable fighting out of clothes entirely as they are in their ceremonial attire. True believers wear usually little, and from this often are rewarded with a resistance to pain and often surviving falls they otherwise shouldn't. Members often fighting long after they've been repeatedly shot or stabbed or dropped from great heights.

Chance of Being Forgotten

A true lotus can strike as silently as death herself. The act of stealth, the belief in oneself to only exist to the extent they decide. Through this path a Lotus can often operate in secrecy even in the most transparent settings. A true believer has been known to shoot a person in public and walk away as if they didn't hold the very gun in their hand. Unseen by those around them.

Chance of Immunity

To be one with death one must not fear intrusion of others. A devoted Lotus will often find themselves resisting poisons, getting high, drunk or effected by intrusions of the mind. They must be resolute in who they are as such anything that might deny such performance is to be resisted in hope of experiencing the rush of combat and killing in proper fashion.

Chance of Critical

To be close to death one must be willing to deliver it. A devote Lotus will often find themselves having an increased chance at striking lethal blows, of breaking or cutting what they otherwise should never get past. Their weapons are conventional, there is a surprising chance that they will work all the same out of the influence of their faith.

Chance of Denial

Death cares not for the power of others. Much like the chance of immunity there is at times the ability to deny other hinderances one might find. Perhaps the most common is the need for sleep, of getting exhausted, of blood bending and of gravity. The later is one of the more unique aspects of the devoted as they from such will often be seen running up walls and sticking to surfaces to hide even though they've no means of adhering to such a surface. The truly devoted are said to even be capable of denying reaction times allowing them to at times dodge bullets and attacks that otherwise might go beyond their speed.

The Chance

Perhaps the most fundamental trait of any Lotus is their use and understanding of the chance. It is to be taken only from the worthiest of foes they are told early on. That they should take a chance usually only once a day. That a chance is arguably ones soul being denied proper rest and that it must be respected. How the ritual is remained a secret, never to be seen by others outside and never written down. It is the closest secret of theres for with the taking of a chance one gains additional abilities. The lotus will learn skills of the original chance owner, improving in various abilities with an unnaturally quick development. And at the expense of a chance one can recover almost any wound in a night. Devoted Lotus members having been known to recover from loss of limbs and other grievous injuries.

Divine Chance

For holding chances one is often able to stay in phenomenal health and image despite age, and even in devotion ignore death. Fatal wounds recovered with the simple expense of a chance, however it comes with a cost. As time goes by ones chances fade and it becomes dependent on skill and lessons learned while the number of chances held become less. While the revitalizing methods of a chance are the only time one loses one it becomes increasingly hard to maintain. A truly devoted Lotus can hold a hundred chances up to the age of twenty four. At the age of twenty five this is halved dropping to fifty, at seventy five it drops to twenty five chances. At a hundred it drops to thirteen, a hundred twenty five it becomes only seven chances, at a hundred fifty it becomes three, and at two hundred in the rare case of it happening only one chance can be held. The predominant difficulty is that as chances are spent and as time goes by one loses clarity and value more and more on lives on taking chances. While they may still try and keep to one chance taken a day, they also begin to think any chance will do. The elders of the Lotus are often found being wasteful and abandoned by the rest of the cult.

I always thought the Lotus concept was really cool. I hope it works out here.

Origins Pt1

Eighteen Years Ago

Image

Haruka Fuyuko Koumori would be her name, the lonesome winter bat. She was the daughter of the Suiren Shinjiru but that was to mean nothing to them. She would be treated like anyone else, to be a Koumori was to be nothing significant. He held his daughter close the old Koumori savored the moment he had with her for the fleeting moment. To cherish something real something only the dying mother who was out of chances and the doctor would see. Nobody else of the cult could know of the moment of sincerity.

Then as was customary a ritual was performed, whoever was the parent with the least chances was to pass on their chance to the child. Let them know pain from the moment they were born. And the old Koumori he'd made sure who was going to have more chances when Haruka was born. So it was that the newborn's mother was slain. Stripped of life and her chance was handed over to the daughter. The greatest gift a parent could give was the first moment of meeting death the first chance to experience all one knew. This was entered into Haruka giving her a potential in combat and skills early on in life to in time grow into. Then with a heavy heart that was quickly fading into one comfortable with what had to be done. He approached the window they were high up, and the fall would surely do the trick. The doctor opened it and with a sigh unnaturally lacking in the heaviness it ought to carry he let his chance of something go so that his daughter could have a chance of her own.

Thirteen Years Ago

Five years old and she was proficient at doing what came with the Lotus faith. Blood was already on her hands, lives had been taken and bones broken. She'd met death three separate times, they never gave them to much of a chance at the start just enough to grow. They had to earn a chance to be a proper Lotus and Haruka was set to do just that. She liked the idea of a cape playing up on the image of heroes and their theatric works. She'd known she wasn't one though she'd even fought one once.

And to be honest she disapproved, she didn't call him the same thing her daddy would of. But his reluctance to fight her was insulting. The hero was a joke, but thankfully for having had such a fight she was being rewarded. Today she was going to meet some of the members of the Yakuza. To become an accomplice of one of their enforcers. To learn more outside of the cult alone. It was exciting, she'd seen some video of what he could do. And actually was impressed. He was the dragon some liked to say, and the way he fought she was fairly convinced.

Of course she also wanted to fight him, for that was fun. She wanted him to break her bones, to pummel her into the dirt and give a proper challenge. From early on the lotus finds combat to be a passion. That stealth and sparring is fun but the most rewarding action is in blood and pain. This man she'd come to be trained other more and more however would be on some level however nicer. It wouldn't be like her time as a member of the Lotus and a chance for her to change would come.

Origins Pt2

Thirteen Years Ago

Age five and Haruka lays on a medical bed dealing with the fact that she'd been shot. Ideally one didn't get hurt in a fight but that was an unrealistic ideal, she was human and a child. So during a mission for the Yakuza the little girl found herself with a bullet lodged in her shoulder. The doctor was removing the slug, and all Haruka did was wince it wasn't the first time she'd been through this. Similarly she'd also learned that showing to much pain was weakness even if ones chances didn't ride it out in stride the vulnerability couldn't be shown.

"You will one day be held acountable for your own chances children, we won't heal you nearly as much. Thus we expect you to improve." These were the words of her father of the elder Koumori the Suiren Shinjiru no special treatment was to be given to any of the ones recovering. "You serve them as they desire, and you get used to the killing for it's who we are. You'll never be free from fears if you can't come to terms with who you are." Most of them were to young and naive to know better or to make to much of what transpired when at the age of five a lotus was given over more to the world at large. It was up the full fledged members particularly the Shinjiru to engrain into them how to feel about whatever might happen.

Later that night though a father asks a daughter how things went, and she admits "he treated me better then I think some of the others got." The father is relieved, of the terrible people the cult comes to serve Haruka aquired someone not as awful. He doubts the girl will ever break the hold of the cult and doesn't want her to. There is however a relief unspoken.

"Remember who you are."

Next day and the little lotus joins the dragon once more for the routine livelihood that was the Yakuza life style. She's mostly silent and obedient for that is her place, there was only so much one could learn in training circles and the like she was now in the real world. And Mr Date had a lesson of his own to teach a little girl. "Going prepared is as important as knowing how to improvise." They were about to enter a bar, a place where some debts were unpaid and some punishment had to be dealt. Body count was supposed to be small, with only the one who didn't pay aloud to be killed. No weapons were aloud in the place requiring said improvisation. The fight was dirty and fun, broken stools and shattered glass a mixture of grandiose moves and the more grounded style of the setting. When it came to the knock out blows they were tied near the end.

Owner of the bar grabbed a baseball bat and readied to swing it toward Mr. Date it was ripped from his hands and used against the skull of the one who'd failed to pay up. The main target begins drifting into unconsciousness starts to fall over. Picking up a shard of glass however Haruka was swift to capitalize on the foe driving the tip into the jugular in a pouncing action. "Four me" she remarked proud to say she'd taken out more.

"You and your damn counting." He remarked as not to long after they ventured into the streets to find a surplus of others ready to take action against them. The now dying man who refused to pay had evidently agitated another boss as well. "I'll get the boss" this meant Haruka could take on more people. She was okay with this, after all at the time this was almost more a game then anything else to her.

Eleven Years Ago

Age seven and by now her and Ryu had become known as quite the team. Weren't always together but when they were it got serious results. They lived separate lives but often the Yakuza saw them as one. The dragon and lotus of Osaka and Haruka thought very little of it this was what they did. Another night, another set of bloody knuckles completely ordinary. But then he dared to call her "lil princess" and take the young killer to get ice cream. These were not customary things for him and not things she was used to. And she had been called many things but princess was not one of them. For this there was a subtle change in her, she'd seen something better then the cult alone. By now this was already who she was, but she found herself maybe able to be a little more. Haruka becomes somewhat more outspoken someone willing to be nice to some degree.

Eight Years Ago

Age ten and things and the lessons in the art of taking chance was more fully understood and open toward mastering. Now came the difficult part for the girl who'd just turned ten. The elder Koumori approached her and began to speak. "Our numbers are few and only those born into the clan typically come to know the hundred day right. For every day you are expected to take a life, to obtain a chance of your own. Should you be wounded and need to spend a chance to recover then the night is forfeit, you go that day without gaining a chance proper. More chances you have then the better your chances amongst the cult. Nobody has ever gotten over eighty nine I'll have you know. And while you are treated like the rest I must be honest my child. I expect you to best my score." The challenge was accepted, this wasn't a game any more.

A young girl was sent away from her home town, sent away from Osaka and Japan. She was left in the states, she had a thousand dollars to spend and nobody to turn to. She was not to accept help, she was not to take refuge under any home by good graces alone. She divided the money, a third for traveling expenses, a third for equipment, a third for provisions such as food and water. Any money obtained would be split in these ways she had to manage it to be successful. Through some contacts stateside she'd met through working with Ryu she got a starting list of people to go after. Predominantly criminals who'd slipped up, she tried to take out those who wouldn't be investigated as much at least for the start.

Thirty days successful, then she had her arm blown off by a shotgun and was kicked out of a balcony of a rather high building. The subject was reinforcing his place with men and cameras, bunkering down in his room. He had caught on to the circle of people going down and refused to follow suit, she couldn't dare to lose day thirty one however so she did her research. Made sure she knew who she would be going against and what to be on a look out for.

The next day thirty two would not be tainted by the same mistakes. Aproaching from the roof tops the lonely lotus dropped upon a sniper looking after her target. His vitality slipped from his veins, his chance was gone. And then taking a few steps back and focusing on trajectory Haruka leapt from the position of the roof and the arts of chance seemed to kick in. Just enough to defy physics ever so slightly and make the distance and crash through the window without much difficulty. However with shattered glass that shouldn't be so simple to break her chance was up and guards came rushing into the room.

Image
Evade the gunshots she did with a rather fluid amount of grace nothing superhuman however it was just a mix of missing a moving target and seeming to almost instinctively know when to dodge out of the way. She removed the legs of one guard caught the pistol upon decent and in a quick expending of remaining rounds dropped three more guards. Another comes from the door and in a burst of movement she kicks off a near by wall in effort to close the distance, her footing was not as solid as it could of been, she only closes the space and avoids the gunfire but makes it only so far. Leaving room to move toward a counter attack. A side step and then a jab upward and her chance is surprisingly high her loyalty is rewarded. The results are not drastic but in a twist of odds his movement goes so well with her own that a jab of the finger tips crushes the esophagus of the foe his breath drawing short and in a small window of time will be beyond his ability to do. Leaving only the target in question the only life that mattered tonight.

She enters the room light in step and silent in motion, cameras even fail to pick her up seeming to blend in with the surroundings with a swift grace bordering on the unnatural her chance of stealth was high and in his panic the mark misses her. A quick jab to the back and an old scar opens under forceful impact. Her fingers slipping into the body and dividing the spine as finger tips lightly puncture the heart. She'd take his chance, come to know what he did and who he was. She was thankful for the opportunity even though she had no respect for the man he wasn't Ryu he wasn't Koumori but the offering still meant a lot.

Ninety ninth day was here and to this date she'd only spend another seven days recovering. Tonight was the difficult one however. Where a successful member was paired with a failure. Very few made it in, and there were some the members of the Lotus knew failed to live up to the training. Broken by the pain and what had to be done and it was such a person Haruka was informed of. It was the first time she'd seen a member of the cult in ninety nine days and all that the member did was give Haruka another person to kill. She found herself at that moment actually missing home some, where interaction was at least somewhat a thing that happened. When there was at least a little more to her days then recon and killing, as engaging and glorious as the art was it was lacking something she found.

All the same the mission was set, a target was marked and so on a rooftop the pair met each other. They'd have a hard time sneaking up on the other, it'd also just be uncustomary to approach in any other fashion then face to face. "You know if I best you they'll teach me how to take your chances to replace what I lack?"

"Only the elders know that, and even they struggle. I call bullshit." He didn't take to the remark well and came at her in a rage. His swing was wide and open. She capitalized on the moment and her opponent was not in good shape after. His next swing a miss blood loss and pain was hard to ignore and another blow lands bringing the fight already close to a conclusion. He hits her, and she lands her third blow on him. The impaled blade along her hip will take a night to recover, but his chance has become hers. Haruka had done it, she'd completed the rights with a record setting ninety one.

A hundred and one days and she's finally back to Osaka, she goes through the rights and the ceremonies. It's the first time her father hugs her, shows actual pride. And though it wasn't to telling to out of the conduct of following the rights they both know there was slightly more to it. Then came the call another day another Yakuza job.

"RYU! I missed you," The young ten year old girl remarked upon seeing him, it'd been almost a third of a year sense she'd been back in Japan sense she'd seen him and to her surprise she was actually excited. Her small frame hugged him tighter then any ten year old should be capable of doing but wasn't to surprising given her upbringing. Haruka wasn't exactly known for such a moment however, it was a rare thing and one that'd spark a change. "You didn't hear me say that though okay?" She remarked in efforts to sound as tough as the gangsters so often around her.

Six Years Ago

Age twelve and Haruka was confused to say the least. Koumori had told her that from this day forward she was to the world daughter to Ryu instead. That while she'd keep her last name she was to be distant from the cult. Told to become her own person. None of it made sense, she couldn't see what the two had tried to arrange for her.

So the young girl took it as a test, to see how long she could go resisting the faith in execution. To learn restraint and grace, to become more adept at surviving and not needing to spend chances on recovering.

All the same however she would do her best to be just a girl. Someone for Ryu to look after, he didn't say what had to be done. Haruka knew though that breaking free from the circles they were in was difficult to do at all, chances were few that it'd be mostly free, and the likelihood of total departure was basically nonexistent.

It was only a matter of time before she took another life. It was her religion, her way, and who she was. For a fleeting moment of time however Haruka Fuyuoka Koumori however was more then the lonesome lotus but instead a daughter.

Origins End

Five Years Ago

She still didn't know what Daddy Dragon as she liked to call him had done to make this a possibility. He'd given a lot to get them free from the circle of criminal activity and violence that had made up so much of their lives. Now at the age of thirteen Haruka was sitting in a classroom somewhere in the states. Honestly she didn't care which of the fifty it was or what the location could mean for her. Right now she was trying to be who Ryu wanted her to be, to be daddy's little girl and not the Lotus so she contained herself. Don't focus on the city, if she'd killed here during the hundred day ritual, if she knew contacts here. It honestly hurt a little she didn't like that dad had to do business for her and without her. She didn't like being in this city without the support of others. She was brought up to be able to survive on her own, after a year of living with Ryu exclusively she'd come to learn to like having people around.

Classes were easy and boring, they didn't like Haruka to much, she wore what she wanted more then caring about any dress code. She'd picked a few small fights, and she'd done bone breaking dares all for the sake of what only seemed her enjoyment. For the most part they were understanding of the hard change they were going through. What Ryu and her did was secret but the staff knew of a tough upbringing and desire to change so they allowed some wiggle room. All of them feared of course however that things might go to far, habits die hard after all.

"You know who my dad is. I can get away with literally anything." These were the words of a bully to a girl, a classmate to another. It was in earshot of Haruka however and so she continued to listen in. The girl was a pretty thing, Haruka didn't know her name never really cared to much at the time, she did know she had broken up with the guy. They were seniors older then her and having adventured in some particular hobbies that they were way to boastful about. By the sounds of the protesting though from her she wasn't changing her mind. "You're going to meet me behind back." Haruka didn't like that, and by the nervous behavior of the ex girlfriend she didn't either. The guy leaves to the restroom and the lotus puts away her books gently closing her locker as she follows him.

Probably one of her better dressed days all things considered, was surprisingly fitting to who she was rather then who she wanted to be. Entering the restroom, much to the gasp of those in the hall and in the stalls she zeroed in on the boy. A brief sprint followed by a sudden high kick that had his head knocked back, a few dislodged teeth and a sudden fall. He'd collapsed on the floor before he'd even knew what him. "You bitch, my dad's the sherif I can probably have you arrested."

"Yeah I don't care."

"Is it a jealousy thing, would you rather I meet you out back?" He remarked thinking himself that impressive.

"Nope."

"Well you'd best own up for this somehow. I could kick your ass free of consequence." To that Haruka laughed.

"Yeah okay" she was deeply amused and this upset the bully in question. He was eager to lash out and naturally Haruka having basically been trained all her life for this kind of thing was more comfortable in her skin then she had been in a year. This was a true fight she felt given his dad maybe he could do something. He through a boring hook and in a counter action she struck with her palm and carried it slightly upward and over. The wrist snaps, and in a painful yelp he launches into another jab with his free hand. She leads this into a throw to project him over her shoulder and crashing into the tiled floor. A sharp twist on his arm is made, could of been a hold but in a lust for combat she found herself just wanting to break him, his bones throughout his arm shattered.

He was about to try and get up, to flee at this point he wasn't going to beet her at this point for sure they both knew. Now was flight not fight given the agony he was in, her foot came down on his knee though, a slight crack and now he wasn't going anywhere. Chances were in her favor in combat and she was getting results that were breaking the boy. A quick kick to the ribs and his breathing was strained. With that done other students cowering and or screaming she was about to go find something to use as a weapon when teachers came yelling to stop. And the lotus listened halting.

An hour later she was circled by cops including the boy's dad. "That was a little to far kid we should lock you up but he needed the lesson and your dad is looking out for you. Just don't do that again." She sighed, even fighting was now greatly off the table it sounded like. Trying to be good was bullshit she thought to herself. Then in came her daddy, the once dragon of Osaka.

"Hey" she remarked she hung her head in shame a bit, there was a bit of smile to her young features though. They knew who she was.

"Listen Haruka, I know how hard it is to adapt." She had some doubt on that, he was a man, she was a weapon. "Trust me, I do." She did trust him though, more then anyone on earth. "But you can't just beat another kid close to death!"

"You mean shouldn't I totally can." She was teasing, the stern look told her it wasn't to well received maybe a little amusement out of it but now wasn't the time.

"We left those lives behind us, the Dragon and the Lotus are memories now, people aren't trained to withstand a beating or even put up a fight, you know?" That was their own damn problem she thought. "They are regular people, so..." he sighed "next time go easier on them, okay? No breaking bones or lethally wounding anyone." That cheered her up a bit though, fighting wasn't entirely forbidden. "But I wouldn't be the former Dragon of Osaka, now Daddy Dragon, if I scolded my little princess for standing up for someone. It's just more proof, you're a good girl, don't let anyone tell you otherwise!" She told herself she wasn't all the time, she could try and be that though for him.

Three Years Ago

Now fifteen and honestly Haruka's heart was a flutter. She'd been hanging out with some of the outcasts of school. One day realizing that the occasional fight at school was trouble they were trying to think of a solution to get their fix somewhat more safely. They liked fighting but all of them knew that it wasn't the way to be good and they really did want to be decent people. While smoking a bowl after school they'd gotten together to watch one of their favorite movies and what Haruka thought one of the best movies of all time.

Fight Club.

They decided to put together such a thing for themselves, it was underground or off at some warehouses places that were safe. They trained they fought they had fun and for over a year honestly Haruka hadn't gotten into a single fight at school or in the streets this was safer, it was better. And thankfully although her dad was a bit upset she was still fighting and not just being a kid this was a way for her to be her and do so safely. Today though instead of going to meet up for some kicking ass and fighting Haruka was pulled to the side. The club while now with many members was mostly made by Ryan and her and now he was instead asking her out. She really liked him, he was pretty ripped easy on the eyes and nice to her. A little later a teen returns home, far more upbeat then she perhaps ever was. Terrible dancing to the rock music that she blared and when dad came home and asked what her deal was she explained. Then came his response, which had the teenager both nervous and excited.

"A... boyfriend?! Uhm... Well, ----, didn't see that one coming."

"I know right!" Of course her shock was more of a natural sort not thinking anyone would want her in such a way more then anything else.

"Guess it's only natural, huh? Normal parenting problems..." he sigh and continued."Okay, so, well, that's a natural part of life, you don't need to be scared, sweetheart" There was an audible pft out of Haruka, she wasn't scared by much of anything. "But it also isn't bad if you are, after all everything is so new, right? So, uhm, if you like a boy enough to let him get closer to you, hold your hand, maybe even... kiss you" she laughed at that, liked the idea liked the weird mix of comfort and discomfort out of this moment. "It's only natural you'll want him closer. If he likes you back, which I'm sure he does because, well, those other girls don't hold a candle to my little lotus" a nod came from her. She didn't think anyone would ask such a crazy messed up person like her but she did think herself without equal amongst their friends. "He's going to be the luckiest guy in the planet. However, boys are mostly evil bastards, so you need to be wary! It's easy to think he wants your love, but he actually wants... uh... something else." More laughter from her, her joy entirely genuine "if he truly likes you, he will be interested on everything you tell him, he will want to be together to do the silliest things and he'll treat you like a princess. Actually, he better treat you like one. But if you think he's doing it only out of interest, if you even feel your feelings aren't answered, back off because he's trouble. And that's when..." he cracks his knuckles more a sign of her partner in crime so long ago was visible. "Dad's gonna have to talk to him."

"Thanks daddy"

Three months later however and the situation had changed she came home in tears. She'd given him everything, tried to teach him what she could to as he asked her. When she opened up though he called her a freak. Saw the monster and immediately told her to screw off. A lot of friends of the club tried to tell her it'd be okay and to hold her back from going after him. Eventually she did however and found him with someone else. A comforting discard of clothes and an open window to hear what was happening. This clearly wasn't the first time he'd cheated it was now just time to forget about hiding it cause they were done. And in a rare moment, she went home and cried chased off the devils of hers. Much as she wanted to bash his face in she was instead found crying, and to most maybe that wasn't to big a deal to uncommon. But anyone who knew the Lotus knew that wasn't something she ever did. Her dad would take care of it, she'd grow to hate that fact though. Much as she loved Ryu taking care of it for her however he'd chosen she felt like that drew him a bit into being the dragon. And as much as she wanted that back this wasn't how it had ought to be she'd thought. Just more reason to let rivers for the first time sense she was probably five flow.

Two Years Ago

After that rather difficult break up Haruka had really wanted to move back to Osaka. She knew they were in doing so closer to who they'd been trying to escape from. She wanted to go home though to that city she'd always loved. From the ferris wheel to the castle garden it was just a beautiful place to be she felt. And now she could savor it more with him instead of being the psycho she used to be. She could appreciate it more and for awhile it had been rather good.

Umeda Sky Building was where she had been visiting when everything went to shit. "You know your dad may have retired but we all know who you are." She hadn't killed sense she was twelve she hadn't been in a serious fight for about two years. She'd really done her best to put that life behind her. Instinctively though she got ready for that was who she really was.

"It'd be out of line to try and go after him, if we take you out though that'd be pain enough." She was still amused people thought they could touch the dragon or lotus she was ready for this. They came at her as so many often did. And with a mixture of martial arts and chance she had everything covered. She avoided an attempt to shoot her with ease and in a palm strike had managed to kill one of the three men just like that. It was easy, and it felt good. This was who she was and everything felt right, even more then when she'd nearly beat a classmate to death. She landed a bone shattering blow and took a gun shot to her abdomen, the pain was there but she shrugged it mostly off it was comforting to her. Pain was joyously familiar, some warm up strikes and an evasion and then she had the second one on the ground. It was here gloves, tore and her strikes eventually began to pulverize bone and flesh. Chances in her strikes led to supernatural results that turned bone to powder and blood to cake her knuckles in a thick way befitting of the brutality. Smooth evasion of the opposition as he got to his feet third and last of the thugs. His gun was taken and though he was fine he didn't have enough time to react to barrel thrusted into his mouth. And as a gunshot rings out a man she hadn't seen in years enters with applause. Seeing him again hurt more then the bullet wound did and chances didn't cover that kind of pain. She'd return home to more of the same kind of pain.

She scrubbed as hard as she could but vitality was caked upon her hands and it was reluctant to let go. The sink was smelling a bit of copper, the faucet water turning red as her dad, the man who arguably cared more for her then the man she'd met up with again not to long ago came in. And thus words flowed out, and for the second time in her life she dared to cry. "So that's how it is, huh?" she sighed hearing the palpable dissatisfaction upon his tongue eyes staring at blood soaked fists like daggers. She always had suspicious cuts and bruises, she'd been trained by the clan and shown through him the ways of the Yakuza. They'd tried for a normal life though and they both knew she'd worked tirelessly not to be the killer she was made to be. This moment hurt more to them both then any blade or bullet. And there was a moment of silence that in it's minute Haruka swore lasted an eternity. And the blood wouldn't wash off infuriating the lotus more and more.

So you're just going back, huh?" She wanted to shake her head and deny it, she couldn't however that would be a lie. "After everything we went through? Did it feel nice?"

Sniffling she dared to speak for a moment "it did." She didn't mean to throw it all away she really didn't. This was what she was however, nothing felt better then that rush of adrenaline and feeling of breaking bone. Nothing was more glorious to her then taking chances and then making them her own.

"Throwing it all away, rejoining with those sick ----s who just want to brandish you like a blade? Is that what my daughter wants?" Was hard to figure out what the hell she wanted that usually wasn't apart of who she was. It was about what employers and the clan wanted, then it was more what dad wanted. Perhaps more concerning though was when she tried to look she knew she kind of did. Much as she wanted to be a good daughter her belief was in combat and killing. "I told you, once you dipped one finger back in this pond. Any finger. They'd reach out for you and drag you right back." She was about to give that same look she did back at school that one time, where even though she might hang her head a bit in shame there was a fire in the eyes, the subtlest smirk because this was who she was. She couldn't smile though, this did hurt and the following words stopped her from even trying. "And don't give me that look, don't give me the 'this is what I am' attitude, I've been by your side since you were five! I've seen your eyes sparkle over ice cream" problem was they did that as well often when confronted with a challenge when given a fight. Joy was joy and her delight could come from a good fight as much as any treat. "And I've seen you cry over boys. We both know that's not who you are" or was it crying over boys wasn't who she was that trying to be good wasn't her? "That's just you accepting others definition of what you are." Smoke entered his lungs a cigarette to try and help, however, today it didn't even help easing his thoughtful head. Simply left its trail of smoke before leaving, blown away by the breeze of an open window. "Haruka, I thought I had raised you better. It seems like no matter how much I try, though, my past mistakes come back to punish me, show me how I failed you. I didn't think I'd raise a monster." That last part felt like something she should spend a chance on to recover from. That wasn't how it worked though.

"I'm sorry daddy. You didn't fail though, it was never your fault I became this." She left for her room to shower, to bite back the scream in the comfort of silence.

Pressent Blossomed and Alone

Eighteen now it's the current age of heroes and the like. There's a lot of grandiose activities and established names. People who drop divine cities over Nebraska. Wizards who war on France. People who claim to be about Justice and bring it about by vast destruction. Haruka is however in the weird middle ground of all these activities. Now fully back into the circles of criminal activity she could end up on any side. An affordable and reliable killer.

The Lonesome Lotus as some call her a lonely flower. She's very much the instinctive assassin her clan makes. Still finds herself battling who her dad wants her to be however who she perhaps ought to be. Though becoming such sounds impossible to her do to an engrained and rough upbringing. Another mission, another chance likely for her to take. She's moved out of her dad's place recently tried to hold a stable job and life but they know where her funds truly come from. Night sets in and before she dares to jump into a predicament she makes a call. Always daddy's girl it couldn't be helped and no amount of saying it she felt could make up for her return to her roots."I don't say it enough, and I know it doesn't fix things. But I love you."

I always thought the Lotus concept was really cool. I hope it works out here.
Thanks! She always was someone I found really cool.

Also just want to mention here like I did in original blogs, Drake wrote the dad's lines a lot of thanks to him for helping me craft those moments to the level I wanted them to be

I love the concept behind her powers and- Jesus that's a lot of lore
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end
