Within the Den of Wolves - Sacha is captured and interrogated after the purge by a mysterious organization.

Sacha had always wondered what exactly she'd do with herself. At times she still does wonder that. But at the moment, she seems content being a wandering mercenary who exists in the shadows, working for either the highest bidder or simply whoever she likes more.

Background


"Don't ask about the dress."
Who is this girl? Where did she come from? Why does she wear a dress and how did she ever get that machine gun? No one really seems to know where this seemingly insane girl is from.

But few people ever really get a chance to ask her. She works alone and doesn't have very many “friends” with whom she sits down and chats with. Most people want nothing to do with the morbid mercenary.

Mental Capabilities and Skills

Neural Superplasticity: They say that in times of stress, the human mind can learn a language in a very rapid amount of time. Children, are said to be more open to learning than adults, who's minds are set.

Styx has a unique mental condition which is coined as "neural superplasticity." This ability allows Styx to rapidly learn information and skills, and perform tasks with eventual expertise. She can learn to fire any gun, wield any blade or even operate things such as computers. This ability, however, makes Styx highly unstable due to her mind being in a constant state of flux and makes her prone to forgetting things. She only clings on to things which are exceedingly precious to her, such as the memory of her brother and how to lay down suppressing fire.
  • Big Brother: Yes, Sacha's brother is dead. She doesn't need any reminder of this fact. And yet some small part of him yet lingers in her mind. She her very own special friend. He warns her of danger and otherwise guides her. It is apparent that he sees the world through Sacha's eyes, and can rapidly interpret sensory and cognitive information even heat of combat to alert styx as to where she is able to be.

Bullet Witch: Marksmanship that borders on unnatural, Sacha is capable of using a very wide variety of firearms with great proficiency. Hence, her reputation as an angel of death om the battlefield. Many a myth speak of Sacha's accuracy with almost supernatural implication.
Double Tap: She is able to maintain her accuracy during fully automatic fire. This allows her to lay waste to men by the squad in mere moments.
Spear: Through shooting the same area multiple times in rapid succession, she can impart large amounts of kinetic energy to a single spot. This allows her to overcome any kind of conventional body armor and can even shoot through lightly armored vehicles with weapons that typically wouldn't be able to overcome it.
Buzzsaw: By focusing her fire on a concentrated limb or in a line, she can Cut objects (and certain limbs) with weapons. The more powerful the weapon, the greater her ability to sever limbs, body parts, wires, etc….
Fast Finger: She is capable of rapidly tapping the trigger at such speeds that the gun feels almost fully automatic.
Styx however, while strong for a kid, isn't actually very well suited for using larger weapons and takes an accuracy penalty whenever she attempts to use a weapon that is too heavy for her.
It's still fun though.

Jumpy: She reacts reflexively to things that make her afraid. Appearing before her abruptly causes her to reflexively shoot something. This happens without thought regardless of whether or not one is friend or foe. She must control this through a control of her own fear. This would mean that if something were to abruptly appear in front of or behind her, she would likely open fire on it immediately.
Physical Capability

Strength: She is stronger than most girls her age, having naturally lived a physically active life. She is weaker than the average adult human male but she is strong enough to tote around light machine guns and use them accurately and effectively for a prolonged period of time. She is most proficient with lighter weapons however.

Speed: Her primary asset. She runs faster than most grown men can. This combined with her small size and agility can make her a very difficult target.

Agility: Nimble and lithe to a seemingly near superhuman degree, Styx takes advantage of her small stature to make herself a difficult target for all but some of the best gunmen. Her ability to make simultaneous use of both acrobatics and an insane arsenal is what makes her an asset on the battlefield. Her maneuvers depend all on what she's carrying, but she can roll and strafe with a machine gun and perform parkour and acrobatics with pistols, allowing her to make full use of her small size.

Paraphernalia


Browning 1918 Machine Gun: State of the art for it's time, the Browning 1918 is a fully automatic light machine gun born in the trenches of the first world war. It eventually found itself in the hand of gangsters, such as the ever Infamous Bonnie and Clyde. It's detachable magazine renders it I'll suited to the role of a SAW. However, it's .30-06 hits (and kicks) hard and will go through any normal body armor. It's wooden configuration makes it lighter than most machine guns. This makes it more manageable for Styx to use.

Glock 20: Small, reliable and hard hitting, the Glock 20 presents itself as a lightweight weapon even a child can comfortably use and not break. Now if only 10mm ACP was more common.

Dress: Styx usually wears a dress, to the bewilderment of most any sane and normal person. She is however known to conceal any assortment of weapons within it. The dress however is less than ideal for most social situations and wearing it out in public often results in unwanted attention.

Throwing Knives: Straight, well balanced knives carbon steel knives. Ideal for thrusting and well, throwing.
Grenades: Comes in two varieties!
Frag: A standard Russian RGN or American M67 frag grenade. After the safety pin is pulled, the grenade can be cooked off with a single squeeze of the handle. After a set period of time, it will explode. Contrary to popular belief, it does not bounce
Semtex: A very powerful C4-like grenade capable of sticking to objects when thrown.

Identity and Background

Secret. Not much is known about Lethe, or where she comes from. She is seemingly another vigilante, albeit one more violent and more willing to harm police than others. Only a select few know of her true identity and of her past.

Intuition: Lethe has the ability to glean information through subconsciously processing all of her senses. This ability is particularly powerful for the girl, as half her mind is dedicated to it. It can be said that she has almost a second brain. One which watches out for her and helps her out with things the conscious mind would have difficulty processing or is ill suited for.

Violence Affinity: Living around violence all her life has lethe to become in tune with violent acts. She subconsciously picks up on signals where such a thing is occurring.

Unseen Sense: Lethe can vaguely sense the presence of things that are supernatural, to the point one might wonder if she is haunted by something.

Gun Affinity: Styx has an affinity or an intimate understanding of guns she uses for a long time. With most guns, she is an exceptional marksman. With some very specific guns, she is an inhuman marksman, able to use some guns with superhuman displays of skill.
The following is a list of weapons with which Styx holds an affinity.
  • G-36: “It's like the M16. But better!”
  • Glock 18: “Small. Durable. Reliable. Very concealable with a small magazine. Plus, it shoots super fast.”
  • Browning 1918: “The gun my beloved liked. It's powerful and kicks like a mule. It's magazine smaller. It's a little big, but not too big for me. Some say there are better guns, but I like this non the less. It hits harder than a lot of guns today.”
  • Blackhawk: Who doesn't like a nice, reliable revolver that hits hard and has no firing cap?

  • Automatic Accuracy: She is able to maintain her accuracy during fully automatic fire. This allows her to lay waste to men by the squad in mere moments.
  • Spear: Through shooting the same area multiple times in rapid succession, she can impart large amounts of kinetic energy to a single spot. This allows her to overcome any kind of conventional body armor and can even shoot through lightly armored vehicles with weapons that typically wouldn't be able to overcome it.
  • Buzzsaw: By focusing her fire on a concentrated limb or in a line, she can Cut objects (and certain limbs) with weapons. The more powerful the weapon, the greater her ability to sever limbs, body parts, wires, etc….
  • Quintuple Tap: She is capable of rapidly tapping the trigger at such speeds that the gun feels almost fully automatic.
This can put a strain on both the weapon and Lethe herself, causing the weapon to rapidly overheat or even melt and Lethe to strain her muscles. Use of this too much can even render her fingers inoperable.

Lethe however, while strong for a kid, isn't actually very well suited for using larger weapons and takes an accuracy penalty whenever she attempts to use a weapon that is too heavy for her to use standing up or features far too much recoil for her small and rather fragile body. (20 lbs)

It's still fun though.

Jumpy: She reacts reflexively to things that make her afraid. Appearing before her abruptly causes her to reflexively shoot something. This happens without thought regardless of whether or not one is friend or foe. She must control this through a control of her own fear. This would mean that if something were to abruptly appear in front of or behind her, she would likely open fire on it immediately.

Weave: Lethe dodges an attack partially, lessening if not outright negating the damage of the attack despite contact.

Counter: To take an opponent's force and use it against them. With this attack, she turns the momentum and strength of an opponent into her own by striking while the opponent is attacking. The potency of the attack depends on what she counters with and where she hits. Using her bare hands for example would mean she can break her hands against someone else's fist. But using a solid steel katana results in her splitting the fist and entire arm easily in two.

Throw-Back: Styx is seemingly knocked down when in reality, the strike she would have otherwise have eaten would have been far more severe. She has trained herself to get up sometimes, instantly.

Cover: A simple and regular maneuver which is often forgotten in combat due to the nature by which people train. Usually, in rings and open fields where things are fair. Styx has learned to use her environment for her. This applies to both gunfights and melee battles. Styx jumps over a car to stop or slow down a rushing opponent or hides behind a tree just in time to block a master marksman's shot.

Stick: A particular skill which may only be used against opponents who are od great or superhuman strength or speed. Styx grabs the opponent’s limb as they throw or draw back a strike and functionally moves with as a free flowing object. As someone grabs back a punch she is lifted into the air. As someone swipes at her with a sword, she is standing on top of the blade.

Flow-State: A state of action, with little to no conscious thought. Only action. In this adrenaline filled state, Sacha becomes the opposite of a berserker. She instead, becomes an amorphous fighter capable of absorbing all information at her disposal and spitting out the ideal outcome. In this state, if she can survive or emerge unscathed from something, she probably will.

Sacha may enter this state after a killing addiction withdraw, if she is defending someone who is of some value to her or in a time where an objective beyond saving herself must be fulfilled. She will not enter this state for self-preservation.

Multi-Lingual: Sacha can speak quite a few languages. She speaks each language she does fluently.

Derangements

These aren't really abilities. At times indeed, they are detriments. But they also grant her certain qualities which some individuals and she herself can find useful.

Truth Compulsion: It is said that some demons do not lie Styx always keeps her promises. If she doesn't she loses her mental abilities and merits, becoming functionally all but a normal girl.

Obsession: Styx is obsessed with victory and loss. This can be beneficial, as it drives her relentlessly scan her enemies and to capitalize on wins. But this can be detrimental in that her what happens in her alter ego can affect her in normal life or the other way around. An example being, failure to make a friend or failure of an exam can cause her to focus on that instead of a fight.

This can cause her accuracy to become functionally halved for a week or until the problem is solved. Her thoughts can fixate on these things.

Killing Addiction: Perhaps what Styx is most known for. She is addicted to causing the death of other human beings. No animals will do. She has to kill someone once a month or she will suffer anything which does not involve that. She becomes like an addict, getting a tremble and not being able to write straight. She suffers pain and gets nightmares.

This can have benefits, as it makes it very easy for her to accomplish tasks which others will not. Sacha will likely never suffer from PTSD like more moral people. She feels so at home killing people that she gains adrenaline and a thoughtless flow state that boosts both mental and physical capacity. She can learn any weapon in this state.

Violence staves off this urge for two weeks. Getting into fights, being chased or even getting shot at helps with this adrenaline junky based urge.
Styx however is a hunter. Her prey must be at least capable of defending himself. She gains nothing from killing a mere baby in it's crib. She has to kill someone who can endanger her, which qualifies most adults at a close range or practically anyone with a gun or other weapon.

Inner Demon: Something which looks, sounds and for all intents and purposes is her brother. Or maybe, it's a ghost? A psionic manifestation of her abilities? Or just a simple hallucination? Who knows.

He seemingly lingers wherever she is and disappears whenever Sacha is actively engaged in socializing.

Physical Capability

Strength: She is stronger than most girls her age, having naturally lived a physically active life. She is weaker than the average adult human male but she is strong enough to tote around light machine guns and use them accurately and effectively for a prolonged period of time. She is most proficient with lighter weapons however.

Her level of strength as a child however, is far from enough for her to fight or grapple well with a grown man in pure hand to hand combat. This leads to her fighting targets in an indirect, slippery and evasive manner.
  • Grip Strength: However, in particular, Sacha has a very abnormal amount of grip strength in her hands and her wrists, which allow her to hold up her entire body with just her hands and even climb surfaces such as rocks. This also leads to her having exceptionally strong fingers. This can allow her to hold exceptionally heavy things without necessarily lifting them, like holding a fully grown adult.

    Applied with her nails, Lethe is capable of sheering off enough skin to rupture blood vessels. A deadly attack which can draw fatal amounts of blood when directed to certain areas.
Speed: One of her two primary attributes, along with agility. Styx is almost too fast in short bursts, able to move her body with a grace and efficiency from a standing or sitting position with inhuman efficiency. She is very well capable of disappearing from the sight of a charging opponent with ease and even can move from someone who is looking right at her, if she is close enough. Her hands are fast enough to remove a coin from someone's hands and replace them with another coin before they have the chance to realize. To the human eye, her punches are thrown with such perfect speed as to be seen as a blur at best at range and not able to seen at all close up.
  • Dexterity: Sacha is skilled at using her hands. Her calm, casual and joyful demeanor masks muscles that are relaxed and make for an ideal kinetic chain. She can remove a coin from someone's hand and replace it with another before than can shut it. She can go from having a holstered gun to it seemingly teleporting into her hand. She can make strikes which lack force on their own , but utiliize weapons to their maximum potential.
Agility: Styx is skilled in both footwork and freerunning, which enable her to fluidly through fight and flight alike. Her movement can be erratic and moves somewhere between a soldier as she tactically roles to cover in a tight space to a someone who seems to dance around bullets and frolic in fields of shrapnel ducking and weaving punches like martial artist. Combined with her ability to predict trajectories, and few people can touch her. And even fewer can land clean shots consistently.

In a way, her agility gives her a functional increase in durability, as she escapes very sudden impacts which would kill most men.

Fighting Style: Child Assassin

Hand to Hand Combat for Lethe is ultimately a last resort which incurs a great many risks. However, some situations inevitably require it, forcing the girl to give up any manner of weapon and to enter some places bare handed. As such, she has taken formal martial arts and has integrated them with her own natural fighting ability.

Lethe's style is a mixed martial art, as no singular martial art is perfect. Boxing. Capoeira. Wing Chun Kung Fu. Bits and pieces of many more. But those three aid her in the realm of general movement, speed and striking power. From Sugar Ray Reynolds, Bruce Lee, Muhummad Ali, all danced. And Sacha -- being a skilled dancer -- found a way to integrate her seamless movement into an agile style which makes use of her agility, speed flexibility to it's maximum extent. This leads to her being difficult for most people to even land a hit on. And those who do land a hit, rarely do so cleanly.

Being a child, Lethe cannot hit very hard. Not hard enough to injury people. But sometimes were you hit is what matters most. This leads to Lethe targeting areas which induce grievous amounts of damage or rely on pain. The groin is the most obvious. A severe strike to several areas on the throat is another. Even the largest of men have proven fall before a well placed strike to the liver. The eyes can

Grappling, is done in a way which takes advantage of the her agility and grip strength. Rather than take people to the ground, Lethe tends to climb onto her larger opponents. The stronger they are, the more stable the climbing platform. This can lead to her remaining in areas that are hard to reach.

Integrated into all is pragmatism. Creative use of her teeth and nails can lead to deadly combinations of strikes capable of rending flesh and drawing lethal levels of blood from the wrists, neck and femoral arteries.

The damage Lethe can do with a weapon propelled as sufficient speeds should go without saying. With a baton, she can break any bone in the human body. With a sword, she can cut off limbs. With a knife, she can propel the blade in a series of speedy cuts which can slip through vulnerable areas or armor or end a fight with one imperceptible strike.

This style allows a little girl to be a very real threat to a grown man. Against opponents who are competent, skilled, stronger and faster, it allows her to survive. Sofar, Sacha has proven able to hold her own against a metahuman with weapons equipped and keeping pace with 2 physically superior opponents attacking her at once.

Hopefully, she'll never have to engage one without one.
The Gunslinger Girl
Lethe doesn't typically "fight" people with guns. She usually just kills people with them. They appear and she either drops instantly or does not. The gun is the weapon which she has the greatest resonance. As such, it should bare some degree of note that her competence with these weapons exceeds anything else you can put in her hands, even as melee weapons. She can jab or pistol whip people with handguns hard enough to sent fragments of the skull. An assault rifle becomes like a spear or staff made of metal, capable of impaling opponents and breaking any bone in the human body accordingly.

Paraphernalia

Glock 18: A highly durable, selective fire handgun which chamber the all too common 9mm parabellum round. For some reason, Lethe has specifically used a version which is not made of magnetic metals.

HK416: Assault Rifle which is similar to the venerable M4 all but an improved weapon. Outfitted with a scope to enable ease of use when sniping.

Blackhawk: Revolver firing the powerful .44 Magnum round. The gun is rated to take on game as large as elk, who weigh half a ton. In Lethe's hand, the gun has almost no firing cap due to being a revolver. This allows her to fire it instantly.

Wakazashi: A short Katana like blade. Composed of a very strong folded steel. It's curved nature makes it to excels at slicing through flesh and bone.

Double ended Spear: A difficult to conceal, doubled bladed spear which features a curved carbon blade at each end. Capable of being thrown and twirled to ward off opponents. The blades are optimized for long range slashing, but are good at slicing;.

Garrote: An old fashioned garrote comprised from human hair, as opposed to steel.

Alternate Ammunition:
  • Riot Control: Bullets made of medium rubber or plastics. These rounds are meant to be ricocheted against the ground and smash into targets, rather than to be fired directly or at close range. However, they can still cause lethal or serious damage if fired against someone directly. Damage to the dead is still liable to cave in a man's head at a range and will still pierce at point blank. Notably, Sacha is cable of using this round to ricochet her shot.
  • Paint bullets: Functionally, military grade paintballs able to be used interchangeably with guns. These are used to stun unarmored humans and otherwise blind (and humiliate) functionally any other target.
Nightstick: The modern descendant of the Tonfa. The weapon consists of a stick with a handle on the end. Throughout history, the weapon has proven itself to be highly effective, notably providing good defense along the forearm and having a numerous sort of punching strikes not accessible to a simple stick. It is a weapon which can benefit from boxer like maneuvers and can also be used to aid in enhancing grappling.
Styx's are made of steel.

Power Dampening Baton: A souvenir of Solar City grabbed from local law enforcement. Uon activation, it enshrouds itself with a potent electrostatic field which takes dampening a step further, into the territory of outright negating superpowers on contact.

This baton only functions in Solar City however. Elsewhere, it would permanently become inert upon being removes from the area.

Costume: Lethe often wears a bright purple costume meant to attract the attention of most opponents. Being outfitted with type I level ballistic plates, she can take a few pistol rounds to the chest and also avoid being stabbed in the chest with most forms of knives.

Rather than protect against bullets, the plates are more geared to protecting against exceedingly hot attacks (such as plasma) and are immune to conventional knife slashes.

The costume features a utility belt ripe with concealable compartments for weapons and other tools.

Brass Knuckles: She owns 2 pairs of these. One is made of steel another is made of carbon fiber. These both serve to concentrate the girl's punches into something lethal, sharpened edges able to easily make blood burst from the human body and shatter bone. The carbon fiber variation is weaker but more concealable.

Grenades: Comes in 3 varieties!

  • Semtex: A very powerful C4-like grenade capable of sticking to objects when thrown.
  • Concussion: AKA a "Demo" Grenade. Contrary to what call of duty teaches you, this is not a stun grenade. This is a lightweight grenade which features no inherit shrapnel, being composed of a pure explosive. This leads to a most powerful explosion with a much shorter lethal range. At shorter ranges, this grenade is easily powerful enough to throw a car off into the distance and can have utility as a close range explosive capable of engaging metahumans. It also is good at destroying thingds.. This grenade will destroy objects out about twenty feet.
  • Smoke: A grenade which emits a thick, functionally non toxic smoke.
A wig: A purple wig which helps to conceal identity.

Contact Lenses: Changes her eye color to be golden and unreadable by retinal scanners.

Chain Knife: A weapon inspired by a worthy opponent. A long, serrated throwing knife which is composed of a long, strong synthetic wire. The hook like bladed edges are ideal for either pulling opponents towards her, in pulling enemies towards her or in brutally controlling individual limbs.
