Charge Immunity and Absorption: Recurrent is naturally capable of nullifying electromagnetic charges, or of absorbing them. Additionally, her suit can store charge or pass it through, without any harm to the wearer. The suit is capable of absorbing charge from both outside sources and from within the suit.

Deliberate Discharge: Recurrent can release targeted electrical strikes as an area-of-effect. The affected area and the strength of the discharge is variable.

Electric Arc: Single target electrical shock, limited range, variable strength.

Magnetic Field Manipulation: Recurrent can manipulate nearby electromagnetic fields. She's able to use this ability as a movement skill, altering her own charge to be affected by the cast field. As such, she can reach high speeds and can also exhibit zero turning radius movement, although turning at the highest speeds is very challenging for her. She can also use this skill to alter charges and magnetize items, giving her the capability to stop bullets or other projectiles.

Valence Shell
Engineered Armor System

Impermeability: At will, the suit can seal itself against the outside environment. Inbuilt air generation and filtration systems make breathing possible. This makes it capable of operating in generally intolerable conditions, such as underwater or in low or high-pressure areas.

Damage negation: The suit is composed of high-tech materials, making it indestructible by normal means. Further, all major vital areas are covered by a double-walled system composed of semi-fused plates. Between the two layers is a charged field capable of absorbing a large amount of force. The outer layer can also be pushed out to a greater area to cushion against impacts, or can be retracted to lay flat against the underlayer. The front of the torso also has a third layer, making it even more resistant to damage in order to protect vital organs.

.
Flexibility: Given the suit's plate-construction method, the electromagnetic bonds between each plate can be controlled, making it possible for them to move against one another or slide above and beneath one another. As such, the suit is as flexible as the wearer, and uniquely competent for CQC engagements.

Mobility and Balance: Inbuilt mobility management systems work with gravitational technology to give the wearer an extremely accurate sense of balance, allowing for greater maneuverability in combat. The technology also acts as a g-field dampener in tight turns, which works with Recurrent's ability to move herself about at high velocity using electromagnetic field generation.

Helmet Display: Screens inside the suit helmet display outside visuals, with the capacity to layer infrared or night-vision modes, as well as screens containing any pertinent information. The suit contains a modified information suite pulled from the US government database.

Audio Adjustment Levels: The suit's helmet can adjust audio levels from outside, either to pick up quiet conversations or to dampen deafening power effects.

Concealment Suite: The suit acts to mask any traces of the wearer's identity, including voice patterns and scent markers. Additionally, it automatically passes a high level of current through anything exiting the suit, so any blood or body fragments would be destroyed on exit, leaving no remaining viable DNA for analysis.

Loadout Alteration: Recurrent can make changes to her loadout, bringing in different technologies that she believes may be useful during a particular fight.

Energy Shield: A personal energy shield, deflecting almost all attacks. It requires a significant amount of power to activate, and then a lower level of power to sustain, so she has to decide when it is worthwhile to keep it active - using a continuous but lower level of energy - versus deactivating it and needing to reinvest the higher activation cost again at a later time.

Conversion Cannons: Built into each palm, these convert electromagnetic energy into other energy forms, from heat to light to plasma to radiation. The level can be adjusted based on how much charge Recurrent pushes into the devices, so the light-form could be anything from a flashlight to a high powered laser, with similar adjustments for the other technological adaptations.

Spinal Alignment Blade: Several segments are fitted along the suit spine. They can be detached and held together with magnetic current, creating a blade somewhere between a long knife and a very short sword. Each segment has razor-sharp edges made of an extremely durable composite that can slice through most modern materials. Careful current manipulation can add a vibration effect to the blade segments, making their cutting ability even stronger.

The armor is composed of three layers, as follows:
seal - the innermost layer. Capable of forming a complete seal against the environment, protecting the wearer from toxic gases, radiation, high pressure, etc, as detailed above
potential - the secondary layer, it focuses mostly on energy storage. While every layer can store a degree of energy, it is this secondary layer that is designed with this as its primary function.
defense - the third layer is by far the strongest, and is the one responsible for most of the armor's damage mitigation capabilities.

Drone Recon: Small drone units are capable of scouting the area and delivering additional information to the suit's HUD via standard cameras, with filters for infrared and night-vision modes.

Drone Retcon: Paired drone units can carry additional technology to replace what she's using in a battle if she thinks something else would be more useful. Her drones are usually outside the standard battle arena, and she can recall them to her directly if she needs them.

A BRIEF HISTORY

Previously operating under the public alias Capacitor, Teja Docesznic was an agent for the US government up until recently, when a series of events resulted in a break of her allegiances. With roots going all the way back to an event in London, this dissociation - while unfortunate - was something that had been building for a long time. The London event brought up an informational gap, and testing after that event showed that her ability to generate charge had been something that had grown at an alarming rate, and not only that, at some point in the future would eventually overtake her ability to contain the charge she carried, resulting in constant destructive discharge.

At that point, plans as to Teja's future began to shift. She started spending more time with other heroes, rather than just with the government, and perhaps as a result of that or perhaps as a result of the impending changes in her life, she started becoming more and more discontent with staying in the background and assessing information, rather than actively trying to stop some of the situations that occurred. With the military's assurance that it was willing to turn a blind eye so long as she didn't get caught, Teja began engineering work on a side project that would eventually become the Valence Shell armor system.

The armor system made its first public debut in Manhattan, in a hunt organized by a woman under the alias of Alpha, leader of a group that called itself The Pack. The armor system performed well enough, as did Teja's cover, and the initial operation was deemed a success. Other than that, though, there was little about the event that could be considered successful. Teja's fellow soldier Hector Williams was devastatingly injured disarming a nuclear device, and he vanished into military medical care, leaving Teja with a bit of a vendetta regarding Alpha and her Pack. Some time later, the Pack made an attack on a MAVU laboratory, and despite Teja's requests, the military ordered her not to participate. Dissatisfied, she switched to her secondary alias and went in anyway. From the standpoint of managing to handle the situation as it occurred, she was quite successful, but from the standpoint of maintaining proper cover, her success was questionable, particularly to Teja's superiors.

This breach of obedience led to the impending end of Teja's career , and it was decided that it was best if she and the military split with reasonable amicability. Despite being an unofficially amicable split, it was necessary for the public view that things seem less so, and thus the event of her leaving was largely staged. Since then, Teja has been trying to figure out where she wants to put herself in the future. Now operating officially under the alias Recurrent, she's attempting to engineer her way into the heroing world, and put a stop to some of those who would threaten it.

ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT
While the Valence Shell remains the primary functional device and the trademark of Teja's alias as Recurrent, she is by nature an engineer, and constantly looking for ways to improve and upgrade.
.
Location: AMPERE
Advanced Mechanics, Physics, and Engineering Research Establishment

A laboratory, often empty, it wasn't built so much for the present as for the future. Teja uses this facility for much of her engineering work, but also for training, instructing, and equipping the next generation of heroes. She is well aware that her time is limited, and hopes to pass along enough information that the world will be in good hands when she leaves it.

More information about AMPERE can be found through various sources, as Teja never intended it to be entirely secret.

IONMASK
Internal Operational Nuance Management & Assessment Situation Kit

Fitting over her eyes in the style of a domino mask, it was originally designed as an interior component of the Valence Shell. Unlike traditional masks, there are no openings, so it has been likened more to a blindfold than a mask, from the outside. From the inside, she can activate a single-way transparency window that allows her to see as normal, or bring up multiple small-scale screens detailing information on the current scenario, anything from terrain scans, hacks from security devices, files accessed through various servers, et cetera.

An extrusion can be fitted into one or both ears, acting as an audio delivery system for information, an audio enhancement system for listening in on quiet conversations, or an audio blocking system to seal and protect against loud noises. The eye covering as well automatically dims when lights above a certain threshold are noted, preventing onset blindness or disorientation from devices such as flashbangs.

After the Circuit Break event, Teja has started wearing the mask most of the time, even if she’s not in the full Valence Shell gear.

BATTERY BACKUP

“You know, you could call it the ‘Capacitor Capacitor.’”
“...No.”

Designer: N. Pendragon

A small device that fits between her shoulderblades, it serves to absorb sudden unexpected discharges. Not only that, but it is able to monitor Teja’s internal charge level and feed back small amounts of charge if she drops below her critical electrical threshold. This serves to negate much of the discomfort that she’s always associated with discharge events, drastically decreasing her recovery time from discharges and EMP blasts.

ORBIT
Open Recall Bodily Integument Transporter

“‘Equipment’ is a word people actually know though.”
“I’m not going to be one of those idiots whose acronyms are all misspelled.”
“How did you even come up with that?”
“I spent almost nine years in the military, I can design acronyms like anything.”

Designer: T. Docesznic

A floating drone less than five centimeters in diameter, it utilizes the Terminal portal-based technology for one purpose only - to recall the Valence Shell anywhere she needs it. True to its name, Teja generally has the small device in magnetic orbit close around her person.

The device also has a small optical camera that she can access from her IONMASK, but that was a secondary bonus and added later, mostly as a decoy purpose to explain the ORBIT drone’s presence anywhere she goes.

CONNECT
Computer Overlay Neural Network Electronic Communication Tether

I can see my mind on the screen...

Designer: T. Docesznic

A standard computer connection cable, ending in a small, hollow needle. The needle itself inserts into a port at the base of Teja's skull, and ionized metallic fibroids are passed through the needle into a web that reads her brain synapses and allows her direct computer access through ionic manipulation of binary data. While she has more or less mastered "reading" the data she accesses, she is still not fully proficient at outgoing influences, and neural output tends to appear more as static than anything more clarified.

This is the system that she uses to link into POWER:CELL at the AMPERE facility, but she has adapted a take-along version as well to splice into other systems, such as that in the Empyrean command center.

JUMP
Junction Ulterior Motive Portal

"The system is neat, but I'm not sure about this sense of humor you're developing."

Designer: T. Docesznic
.

Image
Designed by breaking down and combining aspects of Nicholas Pendragon's portal technology with the Society of Superheroes translocation technology, the JUMP system has one specific function - increasing battlefield presence and mobility. While inertial compensators on the Valence Shell give Teja the ability to move very quickly on the field, she is limited to what forces a human being can sustain outside the shell. Consequently, she designed the JUMP system to compensate for this weakness after an altercation with another electromagnetic wielder in Nevada.

The system fires a portal at any location within Teja's field range and instantaneously pulls her through it. While JUMP is a standalone system and can be used without Valence Shell, it can also be activated through the armor's conversion cannons. Given that like most of her technology, it requires an immense amount of power to activate on a regular basis, it's unfortunately not something that can be mass produced for the rest of the team, unless a suitable independent power source can be designed.
