The witch was satisfied the girl had followed without much prodding. Good, given her timid behavior from before, there was a good chance she wouldn't dare disobey the rule. It wasn't like the world would end if she broke it, but dammit, she liked her privacy, and that corridor led to her personal space. And there were some things simply best left hidden.... Like having a home in the most dangerous forest of all the lands, tucked away in a discreet cave guarded by concealment spells wasn't "private" enough. She wasn't a hermit for nothing.

Absently, she wiped the back of her hand across her mouth, clearing away any stray crumbs.

"No. I don't really care about the temperature of my food. The last time it was used..." she paused, thinking, "Must have been before the last, er, visitor left." It looked like that had been quite a long time ago. "And yes. So sorry if it doesn't match up to your usual standards, noble girl." she added dryly, kicking her legs as she leaned back on her hands. "If you want anything better, you'll have to cook it yourself."

The witch's head tilted at the girl's last statement, a spark of curiosity lighting her sharp eyes.

"And what sort of fate might that be...?"

The princess rolled her eyes at the witch, wiping the dust off the counters and stove before looking for a cutting board and knife, as well as simple ingredients for a simple but delicious soup.

She began cooking, carefully cutting the vegetables and boiling water on the stove. As she prepared the meal she stayed quiet, not sure if she should tell the witch what her fate was. Most would desire her fate, but she absolutely despised it. As enchanting as the life of a princess sounded, it was also incredibly exhausting and once the dragon would trap her it would become even lonelier than it already was beforehand.

Her delicate hands worked in a fine yet quick manner as she diced the ingredients, adding them to the boiling water and adding a few spices she found. Ahh, it smells so good. A soft hum of delight was heard from the girl, her wings settled against her back. The blonde didn't know if the witch would understand why the princess wanted to leave her previous life behind, so she didn't answer, instead finishing up the soup and getting two bowls for the both of them, filling them up and setting one down near the witch along with a spoon, setting hers down in front of her as she seated herself elegantly.

The witch rolled her eyes right back as the girl continued to refuse to tell her. Fine, it was her choice if she wanted to stay here forever. Hopefully one day she'd quit being shy or whatever it was and just out with it. Honestly, what was there to hide? it wasn't like she would care about the witch's opinion of her. The pale woman rolled her shoulders in a half shrug. She supposed so long as the girl wasn't a royal, she didn't care that much. And she highly doubted the nymph could be. What royal would run away from home? They of all people had it made.

The witch seemed distracted as the girl puttered around, intense gaze fading as she stared into nothing, the only movement that of her hands in her lap; the fingers of one hand tracing strange patterns on the back of the other. Her head snapped up as the girl approached setting the steaming bowl nearby. The woman's pale brow quirked, and her nose twitched. Cautiously, she picked up the bowl, ignoring the spoon as she sniffed it at close range, before tipping the container, taking an experimental sip and seemingly not bothered by the temperature.

Both brows went up, and she took another. After that, the warm mixture quickly disappeared. The oddly pale pink of her tongue flashed as it darted out to wipe her lips clean, the witch coolly setting the bowl aside. As if on cue, a loud boom resonated through the cave. The white haired individual didn't look surprised, sliding off the counter and smoothing her tunic with one hand.

"Mm... Thanks." she muttered eloquently, eyeing the girl as if contemplating why she'd shared. Seeming to dismiss it, her gaze turned towards the door. "Now, it seems you'll be getting an early introduction to one of the neighbors... Might be for the best. Come with me." and with that she was off down the hall again, past the split off and back through the passage leading out of the cave, the witch not even bothering to get her boots.

The princess only had little time to eat - or rather gulp down- as much of the soup as possible, when a loud bang surprised her. The witch, who had previously slurped the whole of the soup without a hint of a reaction to the heat of the food. The blonde got to her feet when the pale woman spoke, knowing she didn't really have another option than to follow her. She quickly did as told, wondering what this neighbour could be, as it created such loud noise.

In no time at all, the pale woman was ducking out into the wider, rough cave just outside the entrance to her own abode, the cooler air washing over her as the protections of her home were left at the door. Her eyes scanned the entrance before she stepped away from the wall, assessing the number of visitors. Thankfully, it only seemed to be the one. Her bare feet strode over the uneven rock as she approached, not cautious, but slow.

The being that now loomed in the cave entrance was so tall it nearly blocked all sunlight. It's craggy face and body showered dust at every move, and the stone giant's attention seemed to follow the much smaller witch. It was a Golem. A huge, vaguely humanoid form pieced together from the elements of the earth, moss growing on it's surface and saplings sprouting from it's head.

The thing's head turned when the nymph stepped out from the concealment charms, it's eyes globes of pure amber, the only facial feature on it's head. It lifted one limb, looking ready to take a step towards her, until the witch put out a hand and barked something in a foreign tongue. Despite her considerably smaller stature, she didn't look cowed by the stone creature, and it seemed to heed whatever she said. Almost reluctantly, it lowered its foot, and a deep rumble rolled through the air, almost more felt than heard. The witch turned back to look at the girl, and jerked her head in a 'come here' motion.

"The forest wants to meet you." she stated, as if that made total sense.

The princess blinked a little as the outside air and light surprised the girl.. it was quite unusual to step through some kind of invisible door. The witch had already gone ahead without her and the blonde hurried after her, freezing in place when she saw the visitor. It was huge, and made of rocks and mud, vines and moss covering it from head to toe and little plants growing on it's head. The Nymph suddenly felt very scared, as it's big eyes stared directly at her, approaching her - or not, since the witch told it something she could yet again not understand a singly syllable of. It seemed to understand what the witch had said and Tiyana quietly stepped forward when the witch gestured for her to come closer.

"The- the forest?" She mumbled in surprise, staring at the huge golem as she looked at the woman unsurely. "W-what--?" The nymph gulped nervously and carefully reached out to the golem, her wings fluttering a little as her ability let her sense the plants' warmth inside the golem. Her delicate fingers barely touched what would be the golem's forehead, and she could feel the creature's deep rumbling throughout her body.. it was soothing, in a way, and she felt herself relax a little, placing her palm on the golem gently. "The forest.." The nymph had always had a connection with nature, thanks to her powers. But never had she 'met' the forest like this before.

The golem let out another rumble as the small nymph approaching, lowering itself till it could practically look her in the eye, going on one knee and placing a huge limb on the ground to do so. The witch didn't seem concerned as it did this, watching from where she stood with arms folded.

"Aye. The golems are the vessels of the Blackwood." she stated. It was hardly an adequate explanation, but then, the witch wasn't one for lengthy stories. This forest was old. Very old. So much magic and mystery lay within it that it was nearly sentient. One reason it was so terrifying, because none had dared to try and understand it. Well, almost no one.

"If you are to live here and be able to use your spells freely without holing up in my cave all the time, the forest must acknowledge you and grow accustomed to your magic." she continued, sharp eyes drifting to the big rock giant. "Though, be warned, it regards all of it's occupants the same, so it will not protect you from the other... residents."

The golem's eyes started to glow faintly, never moving from the nymph as it seemed to peer at her, long and hard. A vast presence touched her mind, far larger than the witch or the golem. Far larger than anything she would have ever encountered before, somehow subtle but terrifying, alien. It washed over her, then just was quickly, it was gone, and the golem was rising, dust raining from it's joins as it straightened an turned to the witch. The ground vibrated, and the witch's eyes narrowed. A silent conversations seemed to go on, before the witch clicked her tongue, reaching out to half pat, half slap the golem's knee. Another rumble, and the creature was turning away, feet like uprooted tree stumps clomping away into the forest slow and steady as you like.

"I see, then.. " Tiyana spoke in a soft voice, watching the golem retreat slowly. "I can only do one type of spells anyways, so I believe it will grow accustomed rather swiftly." She muttered, mainly to herself. She couldn't feel this.. well, weird feeling anymore. It had disappeared quickly. "Is there something else you need me to do?" Her wings fluttered, nervously settling against her back, shifting every few seconds. Her eyes settled on the witch, people could have nearly mistaken her from blind, and they wouldn't have been completely wrong in that aspect. It had always been a shame that she was partly blind, as she had always wanted to learn how to use bow and arrows- It simply looked so fascinating to her and it had always been fun to watch the archers practice.

Her thoughts trailed back to the kingdom. They were probably already searching everywhere for her, but they wouldn't get far in this forest, right? The witch had said that the forest protected it's residents, no matter if with good intent or not. But the king's men weren't residents. She doubted that would mean much once they actually attempted something stupid like burning down the woods. She doubted they would go that far, as it would mean that her chance of survival would be rather low and the king probably cherished her too much to do such a thing that could risk his daughter so horribly. She wanted to apologize to her father for running away, but she couldn't and wouldn't, as it would only increase the chance of her fate taking place right then and there.

The witch huffed.

"The strength or variety of your magic does not matter. It must grow accustomed to you." she said dryly, watching the golem leave. Outside the cave, the trees were only lit at their tops, the glow faint and orange. The sun was setting, the shadows under the trees already deepening, as if to hide the activity kicking up beneath their enormous branches. The witch seemed to take note of it, turning back to the cave with a grind of loose gravel.

"It has been a long day. Time to sleep." she stated, tone not broaching any sort of argument. Her tall form trudged back into the cave, down the halls and through the main area, coming to a halt at the cross passages once more. She unceremoniously pointed down the left passage.

"You will find bedding and an area to rest there. Do what you like but do not touch the plants or potions. Should you wander out of the cave at night I will not come after you." she said curtly. The woman ran a weary hand over her hair, then with a final searching glance at Tiyana, broke away and vanished down the right hall. The hall the girl had been warned away from.

Down the left lay another circular chamber, though smaller than the main room. Shelves were hewn into the rock face, full of more mundane books than those of the outer chamber, strange trinkets and forest oddities. They looked like they'd been collected over a long span of time, the collections varying from shelf to shelf, some covered in dust and some well kept. A few surfaces near the end were still bare, as if waiting to be filled. By the door was a tall alcove that contained folded blankets and a few cushions, and against the far wall was a bare cot. No one had used this room in quite a long time, much like the kitchen.
