Aranor, walking next to Eve, glanced at Cuyler, and he spoke plainly, "We are heading to meet up with another one of our camps at a location that is safer, and further away from a center of population." He did not provide any more information, and he seemed almost like a golem at this point, doing what needed to be done and nothing more. His voice was distorted by his helm, sounding almost like an echo, or a reverberation of a normal voice at this point.

Aranor had his shield on his left arm, and his blade, while not unsheathed, was ready to be drawn, his right hand resting on the pommel, ready to pull it out and fight at a moment's notice. Aranor was not normally a very friendly person, or a person who was prone to talking more than was needed, but out here, where they could be in combat any second, and danger was all around? He was far more curt and to the point than was typical. Aranor wasn't trying to be rude or mean, he was just not someone who typically talked a great deal, especially to those he did not know well and did not fully trust. He trusted Cuyler in so far that they were both members of the rebellion, but that was the extent of his trust. He knew very little of the other man, nothing of his past, and remarkably little of his personality. Curt and to the point responses were all Cuyler, or any of the other recruits for that matter, were likely to get out of Aranor.

Eve looked towards Cuyler and smiled, opening her mouth to respond. Before she could, her voice was cut off by Aranor's answer; and she merely sighed and looked away back to the path ahead. "Not 'another one of our camps', Aranor." She said, her voice harsh once more. Still looking straight ahead, she cleared her throat and began to speak. "It was just set up, only a day or two beforehand. It's the best we could do with such sudden notice, since it's not everyday you have to flee from an advancing army of bloodthirsty cult members." Eve nervously chuckled, her voice becoming soft once more. She didn't like having to pick up and leave everything, but she didn't want to jeopardize the others lives either.

Suddenly, Eve felt her skin grow cold as something ahead on the ground caught her attention. Splatters of blood, and dragging tracks that hinted at something being pulled away into the shadowy and dense cluster of woods ahead. She shook her head at the idea of what beast could make such a horrific mess. Most of Chillview's woods were unexplored and untamed, and little was known about what lived within it. That's what made it all the more worse as Eve came closer to the markings. She didn't like this one bit; A sudden feeling of dread and paranoia began to envelope her, and she felt as if she was being watched once more. As she stopped next to the tracks, she followed them with her eyes in the direction they went, and bit down on her tongue to stop herself from vomiting. A deer corpse was sitting in the snow, strewn about and terribly torn to almost unrecognizable pieces. It wasn't even eaten properly, so there was no way in hell that it was just a Direwolf. "Be cautious, I have no clue what could do such a thing. It's no hungry beast, though, that's for sure." Eve said, suddenly not too interested in speaking loudly. Moving away, she began to walk towards their destination once more, becoming increasingly alert to the various sounds that surrounded them.

Bliss listened to the various sounds of nature, her eyes fixated on the destination in front of them. She didn't have time for idle chit-chat, despite how much she enjoyed conversing with her fellow members. She loved nature, but something about Chillview's Forest reeked of evil and danger; Something Bliss knew all too well. Muttering something about 'terrible vibes', Bliss lifted her head slightly at Arcelia's voice behind her.

"Please do, you need to sleep anyways." Bliss said quietly, as she walked a little behind all the others. She wasn't burdened at all, she just didn't feel like accidentally bumping into someone or accidentally butting into a conversation. She was content, behind at the rear of the rest of the group. It gave her time to think, as no one was there to bother her with some sort of meaningless question. Bliss silently scolded herself for thinking such rude thoughts, but quickly lost that train of ideas when Eve stumbled upon a corpse. The poor deer had been killed recently, evident by the still bleeding slash wounds on it's body. Or at least, what was left of it's body. Bliss felt goosebumps all along her skin, as she stared at the corpse for a moment. Her mind could barely imagine what creature would mindlessly kill something and not consume it, as was nature's intent. Shaking her head and muttering a simplistic prayer, Bliss turned away and continued to march forward.

Marian frowned slightly as she had to cut story time short in the middle. The girl picked up her book, then ran to her library to grab a few more books and ran outside. Bundled up in a simple rucksack she had books on legends and history ready for the journey ahead. What she had not expected was that she got to the entrance just as everyone was leaving. Marian scrambled to catch up.

Aranor turned to look at Eve silently, his emotions hidden behind his helmet. Eve was the only person who could normally read him, but even she was at a blank when he was like this, silent with his face covered. Most would be a bit hurt by the harsh tone, but Aranor took it in stride. He didn't react at all besides staring at her for a few moments. He wasn't so delicate that his feelings could be hurt so easily, especially not by her.

He and Ramiel had similar reactions to seeing the mutilated corpse of the deer. Ramiel pulled his great-axe off of his back, gripping it with both hands, on guard in case whatever it was that killed the deer was still in the area. Aranor unsheathed his long-sword and It shifted his shield to his main hand, ready for anything to come lunging out. He didn't seem to be concerned, just aware of possible risks and ready for a sudden attack. It wasn't unheard of for some clever predators to kill one beast, but not eat it, instead choosing to remain in the area to wait and watch for other creatures to come across the body or be drawn by the scent of blood.

Gwendolyn calmly looked in the direction of the dead body, smelling the blood on the air. She then glanced at Toryn and smiled politely, "I'm sorry to ask, but do you think it might be at all possible for your partner to pick up the scent of whatever killed that poor deer, just to make sure it isn't in the area, waiting for us to lower our guard?"

Cuyler nodded at the words of his two leaders, although he still felt a bit nervous. Realizing that soon he would be traveling beyond the bounds of his home kingdom, he sighed and then spotted the mutilated corpse along with the rest of the group. "Whatever the beast is, it seems to like venison. I hope it doesn't have a taste for HUMAN flesh either. Or big cats." He nodded at Silva, hoping she could at least somewhat get the light quip.
The forests were more untamed than he had ever known, despite his 39 years of living. It was getting dangerous, and like his superiors, he felt as if they were in immediate danger. Readying his bow, he drew an arrow. "If anything startles us I can shoot it. It will stun them for a bit... hopefully. Please let it not be a wolf..."

Silva tensed at Toryn's side, her fur standing on end as she brushed against him. At first, he didn't understand the reason for her anxiety, then the smell hit his own acute senses. The reek of blood and offal. The air was permeated with the warning of death. It had carried far, as it took a few moments for the murmurs and sounds of his party to alert him that they'd found the source. Silva let out a low growl, pushing at him till he stepped to the side, the tiger guiding him to skirt the flesh refuse.

That alone was hardly pleasant, but Toryn had experienced more than his fair share of the uglier side of the wilderness and the cycle of survival that dominated the fauna world. Gotten up close and personal with it when necessary. It was something else that set his skin crawling now, something indescribably vile that itched at his nose and pricked his senses.

If bloodlust had a stench, it would be this.

His fingers curled tighter around his staff, lowering it from his shoulder into a more combatively prepared position, and he could feel Silva dipping into a prowl at his side, her large claws unsheathing with a barely perceptible 'shnick'. He almost didn't register Gwendolyn speaking, as his head swiveled from side to side; cocked, as if straining to hear something, anything out of place. Tension that hadn't appeared even during all previous hostile encounters now bubbled under the surface, showing in the set of his shoulders and gate.

"Commander..." he murmured into the eerie stillness. All other sounds of wildlife had vanished. He should have noticed it sooner... "I don't thenk wha'ever caused thes es gone."

The familiar stench of blood barely bothered the pale medic as she looked around carefully. "Toryn's right.. Whatever left the body wasn't hungry.. it's bait." She mumbled to herself, her hand ready to unsheath her trusty blade. They weren't alone.. the woman of few words stepped back from the dead animal, her gaze wandering around again. It had to be one damn quiet animal, to hide like that.

Eve listened carefully to the soft crunching of snow, slowly removing the spear from it’s sling. She could smell it in the air; A scent that few could recognize. Beneath the smells of dirt and blood mingling together, was the powerful scent of metal. Not your typical steels and coppers, but a metal that had become flesh itself. She had only had such a smell assault her senses once in her life, when she stumbled across the Cult Hideout. It was something she couldn’t forget, but now the image of it swirled in her mind.

Eve froze in her tracks after recognizing the scent. Her eyes widened, and she uttered the softest prayer of protection as she tightened the grip on her spear. The runes flashed for a mere moment, and already she could feel the presence of something more. Holding her free hand up, she formed it into a fist, motioning for the others to halt. “There’s no chance we’ve evaded it. It knows.” Eve felt her entire body tense, and she became increasingly aware of a presence around her and the group. “It’s a-” The softest crunch of a stick, and Eve swung around to point the spear in it’s direction. She didn’t know if she’d get out of this alive; Few did. “Father’s Hound. The Blind Beast..” She softly whispered, when suddenly a disgustingly human groan began to emit from where she pointed her spear.

It took the Hound only a few moments to come slinking out of its hiding spot. It stood at an astonishing height of almost 6’ on all fours, and it’s mouth was pulled back into what could almost be described as a grin of sorts. Large, serrated fangs lined it’s mouth, and it’s skin was pulled tight around bones that jutted out each and every way. Eve felt sick to her stomach as the creature began to lower itself, letting out that groan once more as it did. “Goddess save our souls..” She sighed, as the beast began to run full speed for her and the group. Getting into a defensive position, Eve pointed the spear towards it and yelled out a few choice words in an unknown language before bracing herself.

Bliss felt her mind swirl with millions of ideas of what lurked around them. As Toryn and Kuyiri realized that the creature was just bait, she felt a sense of dread building in her chest. It was a trap, and they had fallen directly into it. Quickly, she shook her body a bit to wake Arcelia, before setting the woman down. She removed her glaive, propping it up in the dirt and watching every shadowy movement around her. Bliss could taste blood in her mouth, and realized that she had been biting down on her tongue this entire time, anticipating whatever may come.

“Father’s Hound?” Bliss asked, her voice soft. She was not from this land, nor was she all too knowledgeable in what the cult and Unia did. However, she came to realize it was no ordinary beast when it burst through to bushes, and Bliss nearly threw up just from the sight of it. Sickly red skin, jutting bones and a strange contraption of metal melded into the flesh of it’s head. She watched as it’s ears swiveled, listening to the sound of their breaths, before lunging towards them. “Save us indeed.” Bliss said softly, before grabbing her glaive as well and preparing the be mercilessly attacked by the disgusting thing of flesh and metal before them.

Aranor's head snapped to the side as the Hound appeared, and he tightened his grip on his blade. He didn't charge as one might expect however, he instead noticed the beast charging at Eve, and he placed himself between the Father's Hound and his dear... friend. Aranor held out his shield, which was quite sizable, as he was a man larger than most, allowing the Hound to slam into the metal instead of leaping at Eve.

Aranor slid back half an inch or so due to the sheer size and momentum of the Hound. He didn't lose his footing however, thanks in part to his training and his own size and weight. With hardly even a grunt, he shoved his shield arm forward, knocking the hound back. He then let out a swipe at it with his sword, however his blade found no purchase as the beast merely leapt away. Aranor frowned, staring at it, careful to not take his eyes off of it. "If you weren't a mere beast, I'd be offended by your arrogance. Attacking the leader and ignoring the rest? I'm afraid that's not allowed."

Ramiel let out a booming laugh as Aranor pushed the beast back, away from Eve. "A good foe to whet my taste for battle!" He roared out, charging forward, his axe in his grip. He payed no attention to Aranor, expecting the armoured giant of a man to focus on guarding Eve. Ramiel had other concerns however, namely trying to kill the beast before anyone else could claim the honour.

"Come, Hound! If it is blood you seek, try to take mine!" These words were roared out as a large, gleaming greataxe lashed out towards the dog-monstrosity with surprising speed, considering the weight and size of the blade.

At the drop of a hat Arcelia had fallen asleep soundly on the back of Bliss. Odd thing was that she had felt safe enough to fall asleep and how quickly she slept. The young dancer's body was dead tired thanks to her nightmares and dreams that led to her to train all night. She had no idea about what was going on at the moment as the others trudged along. Somehow she'd repay Bliss for this kindness, Eve might not have allowed her to leave if she had seen her earlier. The cold air did nothing to wake her up as her head rested on Bliss' shoulder. Her veils trailed along behind them slowly, like whisps of energy following them along. Her mind was dark as she went through a kind dreamless sleep which ment no terrors at all to wake her up.

Sadly her sleep was to be interrupted as Bliss shook her awake with urgency. Celi was slowly waking up when Bliss sat her down onto the cold wet ground. The snow sent shivers down her spine as it helped her wake up just a little bit faster. Her eyes adjusted to the light as her gaze moved about her companions. That nap thankfully lightened up her mood some more but her body still felt like lead. It took a few seocnds for the dancer appear to be as she somehow stood up. Her legs were like jelly for a few moments and her mind was clouded so it took her another few moments to realise what was going on.

Those emerald eyes gazed upon the foul creature that had metallic bits sticking out of it. She had never seen or heard of anything like this before and at that moment great fear flooded her system. Arcy knew she was in any condition to face off against something like this. Turning towards the others she pulled out her twin daggers holding them in a backhanded style. Her body faltered as she lost her footing in the snow for a moment, shallow breaths escaped her lips as the fear was choking her.
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.
