Wolves (Open)

Post by Shadow101 » Mon Feb 25, 2019 6:11 pm

Shadow was in his wolf form prowling the arctic woods. The dirty snow on the ground matching his coat. He was making his rounds making sure his camp was safe. As he made his way back to camp the fire he made earlier was still going strong. He laid by his teepee taking in the sights and the sounds. He was still waiting to hear back from his counsel.

Renna paced in spirals around the camp, kicking up patches of fluffy light snow that had fallen from the trees above and landing in her path. Soft snow flakes mixed with her ginger fur and dampened her hair flat to her back. With her pink paw pads starting to sting from the cold, she retreated back to the camp, where the fair had melted away a lot of the snow that lay in the area.

With a small bundle of white rabbits clutched in her jaws, she dropped it by the fire on her way by. The small amount of hunting had gathered her a fair amount of food for the camp.

Tired and sore, she lay down on the ground by the fire, her front paws closed out in front of her as she positioned herself in a comfortable spot.

Ellipses nosed at a bare patch in the snow. A small patch of herbs was poking through the tough winter ground. She looked up enjoying the winter day. It reminded her of home and though she had mostly given up hope of finding her family pack, she enjoyed the small comforts the snow offered.

She turned her attention to the small patch of herbs, a rather rare find for this time of year. It would provide a restock to her stores and bring good fortunes to their pack. Winter wasn't without injury or sickness and this winter had been particularly rough on her stores.

She turned back towards home and made her way slowly pack. Her paws moved easily and familiarly over the ground back to camp. She gave a small nod to the other two near the fire and made her way to her encampment which she had made out of a small cave nearby.

Cinder had been laying at the camp, on top of a small collection of sticks she had acquired and arranged for herself. Her fur allowed her to blend in with the snow but her pink nose seemed to always draw notice from the others. She watched as Shadow returned, his form settling near his tepee, his entire mood readable as he waited.

They, really, were all simply waiting now for the counsel to conclude their decision. Ginger had returned with the rabbits, a concept that made her nose twitch. Cinder wasn't much of a hunter nor was she really anything just yet and she feared one day, that would cost her the pack. Ellipses had walked past, causing Cinder to raise her head as she watched her move past and with a sigh, her eyes returned back to Shadow.

She hated watching their leader become stuck in the middle of action and respect. Rising with a long stretch, she shook the snow free from her fur, a long yawn escaping her before she moves slowly past the fire and rabbits. She moved closer to Shadow, pausing as she sniffed the ground before him, not wanting to rush upon him, but simply let him know that she was there for him, should he wish.

Shadow's ears started to point up as he noticed there was finally movement in the camp. Which was good he thought to himself. He should be able to call the daily meeting once everyone was up and ready. Shadow stood up on all fours his mussels started to twitch as he started to take human form. His fur to skin his snout to a nose. His chiseled physique was like a masterpiece but like most masterpieces he had picked up cracks and scars along the way. He sat down on a stool outside his hut and started to put on clothes on his bare and naked body. You could see the steam on his breath as he spoke. "Cider I trust all is well ?"

With a small mewl of sound in an uncertain tone, she laid down beside him as he dressed, her ears falling back as he spoke to her. She kept her head raised as she looked around the camp and then back up towards him. He knew she hated this part, turning back into what felt so unnatural to her. She always tried to find an excuse to not join the group as they all stood tall before her short wolf frame. But she had been at least trying to work with them recently, not nearly as resistant as she had been several months prior. Trust was hard for her to have let alone, acknowledge.

Bringing her head down onto her paws, her eyes would glance at him over several moments, as if she was trying to merely blend in with the snow and hide herself, though, she was failing horribly. She wished she had the confidence Shadow and the others seemed to have with their control and the comfort they all seemed to have with being simply themselves, but for now, she was simply the outcast among the rest of society's outcasts.

As he dressed he noticed her reserved actions and motions. He took a knee and put his hands softly but firmly around the neck and ear of Cider. "You are one of us." He said as he put his hand over his heart and hit it twice." You are family" he paused looked into her eyes long enough for her to grasp what he was saying. He went back to the table to await the others. He started to put some longs onto the fire as it was starting to die down. As he layed them down he could hear the crackle of the wood. "I do loved that sound" He grinned .

Renna held her head high as she stared into the flickering flames of the fire that licked and danced as it turned the wood to charcoal. Her attention only snapped from the orange and red light as a small whimper could be heard in the direction of Cinder, her head laying close to the snow covered ground. Although Renna was more comfortable in her human form than her wolf, the shifting between them could be a very uncomfortable feeling.

Before changing back, Renna stretched her huge head out in the direction of a patch-work animal skin blanket that she had fashioned out of the many deer, rabbits and foxes she had managed to hunt around the area for food. Snagging the rug between her front teeth, she pulled it close over her body under it hid everything but the tip of her tail. She was used to shifting in front of others so being naked didnt bother her but she was still sensitive about the scar on her back that was a lot more visible when in her human form.

Under the cover of the animal skins, she shifted back into her human form, the soft groans and cracking of bones from under the blanket signalling her shift. Within seconds, she was back to her ginger haired, pale skinned self, wrapped up tightly in the blanket. With disheveled hair and slight pain in her neck, she stood up from her spot and took a step closer to the fire to keep warm before turning towards Shadow with a bowed head.

"The available food around here is getting smaller by the day. I'm nearly having to travel into the human hunting ground to get food now." Her voice shook slightly from the cold as she spoke, her shift from wolf to human taking up energy and heat.

He heard her voice tremble. That would leave the pack with two choices go out even further for food and possibly attract much unwanted human attention. or they would have to leave Horseshoe lake they have been here for many moons this was the very spot where Shadow was left as a cub. He was left to fend for himself. He could remember as he was left alone and afraid. As he opened his eyes a tear started to form. "What do you think we should do Renna? Shadow asked.

Cinder stared into his eyes as he spoke to her, her ears twitching before resting back against her head. She would nuzzle his hand a moment before he rose up to move to the table. Her head would then turn towards Renna as she scurries under the blanket as she had so many times before. After a moment, she allows another long yawn to escape her before she rises and begins to scamper off into the woods where she stows her pack in a hollowed tree trunk.

After pacing a few moments, she makes certain that no other is around before her eyes fall shut. The transformation was a tedious thing to endure, the shifting of bones and forms, the pain that seemed to scream out from every cell as she changed into a thin woman, but she kept silent with minimal whining. Afterwords, she would open her eyes, seeings her hands curled like paws in the snow, her knees and toes buried in the burning whiteness. Several deep breaths would escape her as her black and white hair tumbled forward into her vision.

Pushing herself upwards, she rises with a mild hiss before snatching her pack from the tree and pulling free her clothing. Donning the same leather pants with metal loops and chains she had every day since she joined the pack. The wear on her clothing was apparent of its age, holes in the knees and torn pant legs in the back towards the bottom from where her boots would grind the material into the terrain. But she didn't care as she pulled them onto her form. Taking the time to place on her other clothing; the shirt with tears across the front and the finger-less gloves she adored; the final article was the long leather, fur lined trench coat that had been gifted to her by a friend that no longer was around.

She pulled its warmth close to her form before sliding on the heeled boots, the chains from the boots clinking together before she tossed her pack on her back. She looked down to her paw-print in the snow and the hand print that surrounded it before exhaling sharply and making her way back towards the group. Her hands moved with experience as she gathered her hair up into a long tied ponytail, her pearly teeth biting her lip as she reaches the border of the camp. Her eyes danced around a moment before she made her way towards the fire, her head lowered as she moved to a spot away from the other two, her hands coming up to be warmed by the dancing flames.
