Jazz tucked her thumbs into the pockets of her shredded jeans, smiling faintly in amusement. "No nothing wrong with mystery, his vague ways is what brought me here after all," she told him "He gave me just enough information to catch my attention and then I worked my way up and now I'm here." She leaned back against the table, studying Carlisle thoughtfully. She was trying to get a feel for what kind of person she was working with, he wasn't an open book though. "Oh I wouldn't worry about your gift too much, if he's looking to place you in a higher position one day, your gift is merely a bonus. It was probably what caught his attention. Whereas all the little soldiers running around this place, their gifts are a necessity. You must have done something or possessed a trait that he finds important," she explained, waving away his concerns. She tilted her head, her emerald gaze falling on the gloves with a look of fascination. "Really now? My, my that is a nifty one. I thought I've seen them all." Jazz stood up straight and held out her hands , palms facing up. A small flower bloomed from her palms, vines creeping across her fingers.

Carlisle could appreciate Jazz's outlook, it was refreshing to know that at least a few of the Rebels had some curiosity in them. Just how much she held he didn't know, but he would learn in time he was sure. "He does have a way with words." He agreed, thinking of a few conversations he's had with the peculiar man thus far. Those conversations had very little to do with what brought him here or kept him here, but they did make him curious about the man and what type of things he could learn from him. Every person he met could teach him something, it didn't matter if it was small or big, knowledge was knowledge. Perhaps he should focus less on that, but it was his hobby. "I see. I suppose I should find some relief in that then." It was meant to be a compliment but he couldn't help but feel somewhat bad for the 'little soldiers.' Coming from a place where everyone was thought of as equal this was strange to him. This was how Crypt ruled though so he would have to at least seem like he understood this. Nifty...Carlisle's never seen his gift as nifty, only dangerous, but he said nothing as to not offend Jazz who lifted her own hands to show her gift. He's heard of people being able to control nature, but he couldn't recall a time he's heard of someone being able to create it. "Fascinating, a truly beautiful gift."

"A useless gift as far as I'm concerned," Jazz spoke. She dropped her hands, the plant withering up and crumbling away to nothing. She turned away and started walking towards the door "Come on, we should get started on a few things. I won't keep you too busy on your first day, but we're all about not wasting time..." She opened the door and glanced back at him with a small smirk "Starting with, no one outside of this Palace is to know you're a Rebel. Crypt likes to keep his Council close with the public, we work in secret so they don't know we're Rebels. They trust us that way," she explained. It was in this way they were able to gain useful information that the public would otherwise keep hidden from them. With the other Rebels, on the other hand, their identity wasn't necessary to keep secret. They had to enforce the Rebel code upon the citizens and thus there was no hiding who they were. It was just like no one outside of the Rebels even knew this council existed. Jazz could imagine there were even a few Rebels who had only a vague idea of who they were.

"No gift is useless...you were given it for a reason." Carlisle murmured, glancing once more to his hand. Even he knew he had been given this dark gift for a reason, he just didn't know what that reason was. One day he would learn it. He sighed and followed Jazz to the door, listening to her every word intently. Some would argue that all he did was waste time by spending most of it in libraries reading, something he would argue against but not everyone could understand his reasoning. "Wouldn't they see you leave the Palace and assume? Or do they assume you are only visitors?" They could have a secret entrance for all he knew and if his entry into this place said anything it wasn't that hard to get in and out unseen. Having spies was strange, he didn't see how it made things easier and told him that the people of the city feared the Rebels. It was a shame, but he nodded his head all the same. Carlisle was good at keeping secrets after all. "This will definitely take some getting used to."

Ellie was beginning to think they forgot all about her as she stared out a nearby window. It wasn't dark yet but she could feel it approaching with every passing second. She had told those two that she didn't have time for this, but she already knew they were the type to not care. They had forced her to come here and shoved her in this room so why would they? They wouldn't... A sigh left her lips as her gaze fell to a blue bird, preening its feathers on the windowsill. It looked more free than she felt, she wished she could switch places with it. That was a lie...she has been imprisoned so many times she wouldn't wish this feeling upon anyone. It never left her and this situation just put her back into that dark place, but she had to be strong. She bit the inside of her lip and took a deep breath, she could do this.

"Positive outlook...I like it," Jazz replied swiftly, flicking her hair over her shoulder. She led him down the hallway and towards a set of doors. "That..." she began looking at Carlisle briefly "Is what Tom handles." She smirked a little and opened the door gesturing inside for him. "Invisibility. He can cloak anyone or anything with a wave of his hand, completely drains him though, poor sap." She mused and leaning against the door a little bit. "Crypt has collected enough talents into one place to cover just about every possible situation. Some think he's greedy, power hungry...I think he's smart." She shrugged nonchalantly and peered at Carlisle. She found him interesting enough, they didn't come across vampires like him often. Many were a little more aggressive these days. Few were the peaceful and quiet ones. Personally she blamed the Wall for all the madness that was settling over the city and its people. A wall that trapped everyone in, all that madness clouding up inside.

The door to the room suddenly opened with a swift movement, as if a gust of wind pushed through it. Crypt strode into the room with the Twins tagging along just behind him on either side. He regarded Ellie carefully and tilted his head, he smiled in greeting. "Hello dear, I apologize for any inconvenience..." He began and bowed his head. "I also apologize for the long wait, I had a few matters to take care of..." he explained vaguely. Airic leaned over and muttered something to Crypt quietly, who merely nodded a little in return.

Carlisle smiled faintly. "Life becomes rather dreary without a little bit of positivity and there are plenty out there who live in negativity." He replied, his thoughts mostly on the Rebels themselves. There didn't seem to be a lot of positivity in the air here, but he supposed that was due to how things were run. Strict. They didn't have any freedom, but after Crypt had explained it he understood why, allowing this many to have their own way could be hectic. He didn't agree with it, but he was open-minded enough to understand. It was just another way of life. "Invisibility...my my that would be a difficult one to see."Humor, though perhaps not his strong point at times, always put him at ease. He felt stiff, but it was hard to relax completely. Jazz seemed like a kind person, but one could never be too careful and he wasn't sure what to expect. "I hope he gets plenty of rest. Unfortunately some gifts are more dangerous than others, to their user." His own gift didn't drain him, if anything he was sure he took energy from those he used it on, but he still felt tired or perhaps it was guilt that made him feel so...empty after. This wasn't a gift he liked to use, but he knew he would have to again while here. "No matter what he is, he seems to do his best with what he has." He said thoughtfully. Crypt had built a place for himself, he couldn't deny that.

Ellie set her bags on the floor between her feet and crossed her arms, making sure to keep them close. She was starting to feel a little restless and at the same time tired, she didn't usually leave the house this long if she could help it. There were moments in her life where all she had done was travel from one place to another never settling down, but it's been awhile. Of course she was prepared to run again, no place ever stayed perfect after all and it was silly for her to hope. She shook her head, turning her narrowed gaze towards the door of the room as it suddenly opened and a man stepped through it with the Twins. This was probably their employer, he looked exactly as she expected and she doubted he was actually sorry for making her wait. He looked too smug and that just made her more determined to not give anything away as she shrugged in response.

"Positivity is far and few here I'm afraid...what with everything going on in the city," Jazz commented casually, casting a quick glance at Carlisle. Testing the waters, seeing just how much he knew. One could never tell with Crypt after all. The man would tell some bits of information to some people and different bits to others. He always had a reason behind it and he was honest, but she never quite understood how he did it. The room they entered was filled with filing cabinets that lined one wall, papers strewn about, a map stretched out along another wall with pins stuck in seemingly random places. Yet the most prominent feature was the single, large painting hanging on the wall directly across from the door. It was old and worn, a cluster of figures stood in the picture. Seemingly a royal family. Jazz paused in the middle of the room to peer up at the antique painting, her head slightly tilted to the side. "Yes, a difficult one to see indeed..." she replied, a short laugh escaped her lips. She looked at Carlisle and smiled "Unfortunate isn't it? That some of our gifts hurt us more than help us..." she trailed off. She cleared her throat and made a small gesture to the painting of the old family "Do you know who these people are?" she asked.

Crypt studied Ellie for a long moment, his gaze flickered over her in a curious manner. He glanced over at Nicholas and Airic, he gave a small wave of his hand. They dipped their heads simultaneously and stepped out of the room. He walked over and took a seat at one of the chairs, leaning forward as he clasped his hands in front of him. "Won't you please have a seat? I only wish to talk a little, get to know you. The Twins found you particularly interesting and that, my dear, means I find you interesting," he explained lightly. Yet his tone implied he heavily recommended she take a seat. "I'll tell you what I know so far. You've come in contact with the Twins once before, though they were vague as to what the situation was about. Though they mentioned you have that little, pet Nightwalker. What interests me most however, is you give off a certain...essence about you that suggests you are not among the newer generations of vampire..."

"So I've noticed, but I'm sure I have enough positivity within me to balance some of it out." Carlisle smiled lightly as he looked at her curiously. He was unsure of what she meant about the city. The air within it was heavy but that could be do to many things; the wall that trapped its inhabitants in it, a leader that seemed to have soldiers breathing down their necks, the Nightwalkers...many possibilities. These were all things he didn't mention however. This time he wasn't acting innocent, but he wasn't sure what he was and wasn't meant to know. "No place is without its troubles." Every city or town he had visited had its own cluster of problems, crimes they were trying to stop and overall unhappy citizens. A perfect world did not exist and he was positive that it never would. There would always be someone unhappy about something and that was enough to start a war. He closed his eyes for a moment, chuckling under his breath before he followed her into a room of disarray. Papers were everywhere, they really should learn to organize things but his attention was drawn to a portrait on the other wall before she even mentioned it. Not many books existed about them but he knew who they were. "I suppose the more complex gifts can't come without some sort of price." Nothing in life was free, he remembered hearing that during his travels. "I can take a guess as to who they are. Every story has a beginning, even ours."

Ellie didn't flinch as he studied her, nor when he moved even closer to sit down. Her expression was indifferent, perhaps slightly bored, it was the best way to keep her emotions and Sin under wraps. Sin had a habit of coming out at the wrong times and she couldn't have that happen now. He looked at her as if she were some sort of project and she didn't like it, there was nothing about this situation to like. "I'm perfectly fine where I am." She replied, her own tone hinting that she wouldn't be so easily intimidated. At least not by the likes of him. Yet when he mentioned the Nightwalker she did have a moment of pause, the twins had never seen them together unless...that woman who helped her when she was injured. Kai had mentioned she wasn't someone to trust and though it did upset her that the word 'pet' was ever used she luckily did have more self control than Kai did. No chests would be ripped into today, mostly because she was sure he wouldn't hesitate to harm her. "What do you want Mister? It'll be dark soon." She didn't like how he was dragging this out longer than necessary, but of course that didn't mean she would just give him what he wanted. Not to mention it was rude to mention a girl's age in the first place, her aunt always told her that anyway.

Jazz peered up at the portrait with glimmering eyes, her hands clasped in front of her. She took a deep breath as if to soak in the mere presence of the painting. "Carlisle, if you are to be with us, it is important you understand some of our goals..." she said lightly "I can't tell you all of them to you yet but this one is important." Jazz turned to him a little and made a sweeping gesture towards the painting of the royal family and she smiled a little. "Crypt has reason to believe these few still walk among us. The Ancients, the Elders, the purest form of vampire. You see, Crypt believes the vampire race has gone astray with the Night Walkers and those who choose to side with the mortals," she explained slowly. Jazz looked back at the portraits and sighed softly, clearing her throat as if to compose herself. "He wishes to find them, to rid this city of the Nightwalkers and troublesome vampires, to start with a clean plate." It was clear by the way she spoke she believed in this whole heartedly, how could she not when it was Crypt himself that had told the Rebels all of this. They were raised to believe his every word and believed it they did.

"I've already told you what I wanted, I merely wish to get to know you. It's not right that I should only know you by the words of others is it?" Crypt replied simply, watching her closely. There was a certain edge of caution in his gaze, to put it simply, he didn't trust her. "The Twins brought you to me and as a gentleman it's important to me to get to know my guests..." He wasn't lying but he wasn't telling her everything either. He paused and tilted his head, hearing a sort of commotion outside of the room. There was a sudden outburst of yelling and demanding, though the words were muffled. He merely listened for a moment, but didn't react to it. He stood up slowly and tugged on the cuffs of his sleeves, his gaze flickered to the door briefly. Yet, he returned his attention to Ellie quietly, patiently.

Carlisle listened quietly, seeing the passion in her gaze as she explained what Crypt has taught them about their past selves. He could see how one would think they may still be alive, they were vampires after all, but he wasn't sure Crypt should be speaking for them. "Surely if they still were would they not see what vampire life has become? And would they not have already stepped in if they disagreed with it?" It was an innocent question, he meant no harm by it though some part of him was sure that they did not want to be found. His life was very short compared to them and he could imagine that the longer one lived the more peace one would want to have. It made sense, but he truly wanted to understand their views on this. He never thought anybody would want to find the Elders though he could admit it would be interesting to meet them. History books didn't have much about them and he as genuinely curious about their story. He had doubts he would ever have an actual conversation with any of them but he could dream. "It all sounds very interesting. I may not understand everything now, but I'm sure I will."

"You're not a very good liar mister." Ellie muttered, her silvery gaze never leaving his. Perhaps it was all the times she was locked up in dungeons, or maybe it was simply the fact that Alexander's blood ran through her veins and lying was like a second language to him, but she could tell when most were lying. Even when they thought they were the best liars in the world. It wasn't a gift, anyone could tell when someone else was lying if they knew what to look for, but she was thankful for it. Most children did blindly trust anyone and her younger self had been saved from that. Her childhood had still been filled with pain, but she could say it had never been the fault of her naiveté. "I didn't ask to be a guest either, I wanted to go home." She told him stubbornly, glancing at the door as some sort of commotion could be heard beyond it. It wasn't easy to hear what exactly was going on, these walls were thick, but someone didn't sound too happy. "Sounds like you have other things to attend to."
