[GUARD]Skeleton Steve Joins the Force!

Post by DarkButterfly » Sun Oct 08, 2017 1:09 am

Midday, the sun was hot, hotter than the bowels of hell in the middle of the summer. Or so Steve believed, he didn't really know what hell was like. Wait, was there a hell? What if there is a hell and Steve was in it but he was just too badass to be contained by hell so he broke out and no, no, no stop. That is both ridiculous and improbable, thought Steve, and I should be ashamed for letting my mind, or lack thereof, run amok. Steve needed his wits about him as he strode through the city in broad daylight, headed towards the guard station.

Completely naked, people typically pointed, screamed, and ran away from Steve. Steve would be offended, however, he knew he was a skeleton and, therefore, frightening. It was a gift and a curse, really, as probably enemies were frightened of him but so were probably friends! He lamented at all the possible friends he had scared away by his appearance, but he couldn't help how he looked! It baffled him to a small degree, didn't everyone have a skeleton inside of them?

Didn't they?

Maybe he should check.

No no that'd be bad.

People need skeletons to live, indeed, therefore Steve decided it would be best if he left other people's skeletons inside of them. Besides, he was on his way to join the guard! His new job would be making sure people's skeletons stayed inside of them, and Steve would be the best damn skeleton keeper insider in the whole guard! Arriving at the door to the Guard Station, Steve knocked lightly and withdrew a recruitment scroll from within his chest.

"The Guard will hire anyone willing to serve the city, regardless of race; color; creed or gender, so long as they are capable of work. Whether you're a human, a demigod, or even a fairy - if you can swing a sword, you can join the guard and defend your kingdom and your honor."

Or so the flyer read in big, bold lettering, and Steve could swing a sword(probably) so he believed himself more than fit to join the guard!

Night and day, day and night, night and day. Time became a blur to the skeleton who, standing outside the guardhouse, saw not a soul. Was he truly that frightening that the world avoided him? It seemed the gods themselves looked down upon Steve and found him to be lacking. No one, not even the brave captain of the guard, would come meet Steve. Slowly, Steve began to lose hope, hope in his dream, hope in humanity. As a single tear, or raindrop(was it raining?) rolled down his smooth, boney face, the skeleton kicked a pebble and started to walk off.

Pulling out the long scroll from within his chest, it was with a heavy ribcage that he slowly poked holes into the part where he had scratched 'become a guard.' Although he didn't notice it, the scrolled regenerated itself as he replaced it back into his chest. One day he'd become a guard, one day. And when that day came, he'd be brave! He'd be proactive! HE WOULDNT LEAVE PEOPLE! No sir! Steve would be the best guard ever!

As he walked off, the rain began to truly start, pouring buckets down on his aching bones. Sad music played from a nearby home, and the last rays of sunlight gave way to night.

Steve left
