"And I have reason to believe there's some missing clothing here. That pile seems to have been recently disturbed," he says, gesturing to the pile he was just at. "To be quite frank, with a missing mask and clothes, it seems they're planning to attend either the masquerade or the festival," he says, pacing.

"The problem is, we don't know what the missing clothes look like. The pile I looked at was stacked with women's clothes, but it's rare for an average woman to possess the strength to do that much damage. Meaning either the killer was a male or a very strong woman. Or perhaps there was more than one of them. Then there's the feathers... I pray it's not a certain household, but we can't exclude them," he think aloud, his voice becoming disdainful at the last bit.

He finally stops pacing and releases a deep sigh. "I think we should increase security at the festival and ball. Hopefully they didn't wash the clothes or cover them in fragrance. If they still have the mothball scent on them, we might be able to locate them with the hounds," he suggests, knowing it's unlikely Lady Conrad would allow the last part.

Allen smiled as Captain Charlotte welcomed him, although the fact that the woman kept calling him, boy, made him a little annoyed. Allen had to stop his eye from twitching as he continued to examine the clothing he found.

"This definitely won't be easy." Allen murmured. The man turned to face Rowan giving the man a stern look. "Perhaps we should have a guard or two go undercover in the masquerade." Allen mentioned. "I already planned on going, so if you would allow me to partake, I would be most gracious." He took a respectful bow before standing up proud and straight once more.

Allen was beginning to feel fired up, he wanted to catch whoever the culprit, or culprits were, he wanted to protect this city. It seemed highly likely that there was another victim, or someone taken captive. However, the only blood trail could be found from the counter to the first victims skull, there was no other blood, no other body. Based on how recently the old woman died, Allen had doubts that there would have been time for the assailant to hide another body, besides, what would be the point when there was already one in the middle of the shop.

The man had another thought. He definitely agreed with Rowan, about how the suspect may be planning to attend this evenings events, it wouldn't be unlikely, based on how a mask was missing.

"Chief, I'm trying to keep an open mind, but when I put the clues together, I get it a pretty good idea on who the suspect may be." Allen stated. "Just look at the evidence. The suspect is either a male, or a strong woman, capable of killing a woman with their own two hands. They are either a feathered creature, or are wearing a feathered outfit, however what I found beneath the old woman's finger nails leads me to believe that it was a feathered creature." He paused for a moment before continuing. "A pile of women's clothes, just recently worn was left behind, while a mask is missing. I'd say it's safe to assume that a dress is missing as well."

"What I'm saying is, perhaps the assailant, was a gentlemen of lower class, looking for an elegant lady to escort him to the masquerade. There was no way he could actually find a lady of high class in this store, and if he were to get one, it would be hard for him to do it while people aren't around. This leads me to believe that perhaps this individual, took a lower class citizen, and created his own noble lady." Allen took another pause, trying to think of the right words to say.

"I bet a nights worth of drinks that the suspect will be at the masquerade, with a least one victim." He stated, which it could be told that Allen was most sincere, if he were to be betting a nights worth of drinks on his findings.

Arcadia gave a soft sigh as they all started putting pieces together, trying to solve this murder puzzle. They had clothes missing from the dress rack, a fancy mask was missing so she didn't think it was a for the festival. What was the point in wearing a fancy mask like the ones there if it was just for the festival. So like Allen she came to the conclusion that the other person there had to have been getting prepared for the ball. The sound of the boy's voice drew the guard out of her thoughts as the youngling stated his hypothesis. It all sounded quite possible and it impressed her a bit. The recruit had a lot more promise than she first thought.

" I agree with the kid, Captain. His logic sounds pretty solid. I say we let the other guards check out the festival just in case. Those here should check out the ball and try to follow any other clues that we might find." Arcadia stated as she leaned against a wall looking towards the door. They had to be quick in finding this crook so he won't hurt anyone else. Eventually the woman couldn't help but chuckle a bit as she pieced the puzzle together herself and came to a somewhat similar point. This whole thing was getting her blood pumping a bit, now they just had to catch this bastard.

" You got a good head on your shoulders kid. Where'd you find this one captain? I wish the recruits you send me were half as good as him with this kind of stuff. So where are we deploying Captain?" Arcadia joked as she stepped away from the wall and floated over to Allen with a grin. The woman patted the boy's shoulder quite hard before turning to the Captain chuckling. Seeing him like this made the guardswoman want to see the boy in combat. Maybe she'd take him on in a dual some time, see how he fared against her.

"Don't make any assumptions yet, you two," he says, raising an eyebrow. "We still don't know what they look like, or what their exact intentions are. I'm ordering increased security to both events, and updating the entire force on the situation. I'm closing the gates to anyone bearing black feathers." With this, he walks over to a private and says something in his ear. The private throws a salute and runs off, likely to relay a message.

"Alright. The three of us will attend the ball. Don't go overboard with the disguise concept; I'll be going in uniform," he says. "Watch for anyone with black feathers. Though it may be a common fashion, this one will likely seem suspicious. Understand?"

Allen tried to hide his annoyed face as Captain Charlotte continued to call him boy, and kid. When the woman shoved his shoulder, he was surprised by her strength, knowing that without his years of physical training Allen could have been easily knocked over by something as simple as a push to the woman. "Sorry Chief." Allen murmured in response to what Rowan said. "It's just that the assumptions we can make seem to be the most likely solution in figuring out the culprit." He cleared his throat feeling his voice grow hoarse.

"I shall take my leave for now. If you need me, look for the man clad in fine red cloths." Allen took a step towards the door, stopping beside Rowan. "I'd like for you to hold onto this, in case of trouble. I don't want to carry a weapon during the ball." Turning to the man, Allen unhinged the sword from his side, handing it to the Captain with trust in his eyes.

Arcadia gave a small silent sigh as her attempt to lighten things up a bit seemed to be lost. She just couldn't wait to be done with this case as investigations weren't her strong suit. Sure they were making assumptions but that's all they could do based upon what they had. No witnesses just the evidence that sits in front of them and they had to make guesses using just that. Stuff like this made her glad she wasn't the Captain of the whole guard. She would be lost at moments like this if it was just her. She didn't have trouble leading in battle but on a murder investigation she'd be completely useless if she was in charge.

" Alright Captain. I won't make any promises with the disguise though. I'll catch you two at the ball." Arcadia said with a simple wave as she started walking towards the door. She smirked as she nudged the recruit a bit hard, messing with him a bit more. Messing with the newest recruits had always been a fun thing. See if they could handle what she could throw at them to make sure they could handle being a guard. With that Captain Charlotte left the scene with a smirk on her lips.

"Alright," he says to the recruit. "But take this, just in case." He unstraps his dagger and hands it to Allen, the blade is at least six inches long.

"And it's alright, you two. But you never come to an early conclusion. It can easily lead to an innocent person being arrested, or worse. You should know this, Arcadia, seeing as you've been a guard far longer than myself." With that, he strides out the door, getting ready for the ball.

Rowan leaves. Make your next post in the masquerade thread.

Allen watched as Rowan handed him a knife, giving the man a nod of gratitude he took it. Allen turned towards the door as Rowan left, following suit. Before he left the shop, Allen began thinking once more about the clues to the suspect. The suspect is either an aviary creature, or wearing a feathered outfit, they may be a man, or powerful woman, and they may be forcing another victim along with them. He left the shop with these thoughts, preparing to stop by a secluded area to change.

Allen Leaves.
