Hidden River Creek Stables

Post by Avalein » Fri Jul 13, 2018 5:02 am

Zilyana's stables have been in the family for as long as she can remember, named due to the location which is a river and creek that runs through the property. There are ten to fifteen pastures taht is also on the property along with several barns and training areas. There are also several trails around the property as well as a pond.
The cost is simple the more care you want done the more it is. There are rolling green pastures. The stables can hold up to four hundred horses, though they only get full during events, and/or festivals. Zilyana breeds six to ten mares every spring.
Horses are raised and sold to nobles and royals, but they have horses for every status. From ponies to draft horses to war horses.

Prices:

Horses:

Good Well Bred Horses- 20 to 100 swords
Special (including horses for the royal family and high up nobles), pedigree lines and purebreds- 100 to 500 swords
Light and heavy war horses- 150 to 200 swords
Ponies-20 to 150 swords
Wagon/draft horses-50 to 100 swords
Other Horses and ponies- 20 to 500 swords

Board:

One night- 1 sword up to 5 swords depending on care

There is a vet and farrier onsite as well.

Zilyana smiled she had started the morning early like she had everyday since she had been old enough to help with the barn chores. Upon reaching the first of the stalls smiled reaching out to stroke the horse's head that had come over the stall door. She knew every horse on the property, and had been teaching her daughters the same thing.

Watching as her husband started to feed, she wandered over to the stable that housed the royal horses, she tended to them on her own and prided herself of their constant care. As she reached the first stall she shook her head, something didn't feel right. Looking into the first horse's stall noticed that the mare was laying on her side grunting almost, trying to bite and kick at it as well. Zilyana knew what the symptoms meant,"Colic" she muttered under her breath she knew that it was never a good thing. Taking a deep breath nodded, she'd have to alert those at the royal palace and possibly even Lady Conrad. Quickly calling one of her daughters to keep an eye on the mare until she returned. Before going to tack up and mount her stallion starting into the canter from a near standstill, towards the city and palace, before quickly pulling up, she would tend to the problem and alert Lady Conrad later. She sighed dismounting stroking the stallions neck as she took off the saddle and bridle, "we will go for a ride later. I will go and get the vet. And tend to the royal horse on my own."

Walking towards where the vet was, listening to what the vet said smiled a sad smile before nodding telling the vet to go ahead and put the horse down. Knowing that the type of colic that it had nothing could be done for it. Looking at her husband and sons sighed, nodding, "bury it when the vet is done. I'm going for a much needed ride. I have to think about how to tell Lady Conrad that the horse had to be put down, once she is no longer busy." Re-saddling up her stallion quickly mounted nudging the stallion into a canter into the trees surrounding the property. Only slowing down once the barns and the city were out of sight, tears streaming down her face she had been close to the mare having picked it from the time it was a foal to be a royal horse. What made it harder was that it was one of the offspring of her stallion. She would rebreed the mare that had foaled the royal mare. The death of a horse meant the whole family and staff went into mourning for a couple days, but each one took a toll on her. Not realizing that the stallion had stopped before nudging him forward again deeper into the trees.

"It... hurts..." Muttered Lithrandil as his eyes shot open, tears streaming down his obscure cheeks. His chest clenched in a way that was known only to those that had suffered loss. No matter how far he seemed to go, grief would always reach him, seeping into his mind, and poisoning his soul. It was never a good start to a morning, and it needed to be treated.

He still lay atop his branch, high up in the trees when he heard the unmistakable sound of hoofs hitting stomped ground not far beneath him. The tree was kind enough to supply him a place to sleep, all in the form of an almost chair like branch formation. He was tempted to make his temporary residence there, despite it being above a road. It seemed, it was not as unused as he thought. And so, he cast a gaze trough the holes in his mask, sharp eyes taking note of the woman beneath him.

An Elf, he thought at first, scanning her features. He could not identify to which sub-type she belonged, but either way, like most others, the Swallow Scion was sure that she would not appreciate his presence. Either way, the pain needed to stop, and if he was to act, it needed to be immediate. The horse appeared to be well-fed and healthy, and Lithandriel was not sure if he could catch up to him. Thus, he puled him legs to the side, and allowed himself to slide off the branch.

He would appear several meters in front of the rider, landing on the road with the grace of a feline. And just as he did, the phantom strings around his heart pulled again. If anything, this meant that he was next to he one who's pain he could feel so clearly.

"Your companion... he feels your distress..." He trailed cautiously, his voice echoing inside the confines of his wooden mask. "Stop crying... now..."

Zilyana felt the stallion rear underneath her as an elf jumped down in front of her, "yes he does, we had to put down a horse as such he feels my pain." placing a hand on the stallions neck as she looked at him, "who are you? You are not from around here." trying to calm the stallion who had started to prance underneath her. Closing her eyes, for a moment before opening them. "you are welcome to join me, but you will have to walk as my stallion isn't trusting of men." A breeze began to pick up blowing her silver hair behind her, as well as the stallions mane and tail, as the stallion began to stomp at the flies.

"I will returning to the stables soon, you are welcome to join me," looking around as the branches began to sway more in the wind. "on second thought I may head towards the port, it wouldn't do to get lost or outside if a storm is starting to blow in." She had been caught out in a storm when she was younger and it was a lesson that she hadn't forgotten.
