"I've somewhere to stay, your majesty; thank you." Kthirtic nodded, curtsied, and, seeing herself dismissed, skittered away towards the exit. Her new friend seemed pleased. That was nice. The images were nice, too. She cared little for the gold, but the recognition--yes; it was deserved. It was appropriate. And the towers--yes. The moon rotted in front of her eyes, as she'd expected.

Tameo(my character) approaches the palace gate. He addresses the guards. "I request an audience with Her Majesty the Queen."

Tameo repeats, "I request an audience with Her Majesty the Queen. Dost thou not hear me? Do thy ears trouble thee?"

The guard stared down at the short old man, his brow furrowing.

"Still yourself, man. What is the purpose of your audience?" he boomed, gauntleted fist tightening around his glaive.
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end

"The Queen mustn't be left to the mercy of dark spirits! Though she doth not know, she is in need of mine services as a mage."

"Dark spirits?" The large guard shared a glance with his companion, expression masked by his helm. "We have heard nothing of this. Does this have to do with the assassin?"

He stepped closer until he loomed Tameo.

"Or are you a conman, peddling promises built on fear? We have no patience for that ilk."

"I assureth thee, I do not intend to swindle! Just look!" Tameo hands the guard a complicated divination record. "And if thou doubtest my credentials, I carry signed letters written by the great teacher himself."

The guard stared at the paper. It was obvious he couldn't make heads nor tails of the thing, but he grunted in acceptance anyway, and gave the paper back.

"Everything looks to be in order," he muttered, stepping to the side. "But be quick about it. The Lady has had a long week."

Tameo grabs his writings and walks hurriedly into the throne room, ushered in by the royal guard. "Your majesty, Thou art in grave danger in the spirit realm! I beg thee, permit me to help thee."

Gielban sat at a desk beside her throne, a sizable ream of paperwork perched at the edge beside her. As the man entered, she rubbed at the bridge of her nose and frowned.

"What is this? Who let you in? If you have news of some trouble, out with it. I have no time for dalliances," she snapped, not even bothering to look up from the parchment before her.
