Elementals

Go ahead and just post, don't mark. You're all already in the library so just pick up from there. If you have any questions before you post please go to the OOC first and post them there and I'll clear any confusions!

Alex Evans listened to the sound of her footsteps as they echoed down the hall. The white-haired girl held a textbook in one hand, while she twirled a pencil in the other. She was late, as she always was, to detention. She had gotten caught ditching classes that day, hanging around the restrooms playing games on her phone instead of being in math class. Stopping outside the library doors, Alex took a deep breath before entering, pushing her way inside and leaving the slip of yellow paper that had her name and details of why she was there on the librarian's desk.

"Hello, Mrs. Brown," Alex greeted the old woman, grinning.

"Evans," She grumbled, snatching the slip of paper and reading it over. Snapping her bony fingers, she pointed at one of the several tables that were in front of her, signaling to Alex to sit down and busy herself with something for the next hour and a half.

There were four other girls there already, and Alex studied them all curiously before reaching the closest table to the window. She didn't see anyone she recognized, except for one girl. A brunette girl named Oleander. She had seen her in soldier training before, and for a second Alex almost raised her hand in a greeting but stopped midway.

Plopping down, Alex's attention went immediately to the window, noticing the group of soldiers outside the skirts of the school campus. They were grouped up, talking quickly amongst themselves. Frowning, Alex watched as they suddenly began running onto campus, shouting something at her as they spotted her before there was a loud explosion and the building shook.

Gripping the table, Alex watched as the ceiling came crashing down on the elderly librarian, not even giving her time to scream. Not only was she dead, but their exit was effectively blocked. As more rubble came down, rows of bookshelves began toppling over, crushing everything in their path, Alex dove under the table, getting on all fours as the building continued to shake as there was another explosion. The room became full of dust, choking her and make it hard for her to see. There was a loud boom! as another explosion went off, shaking the building a third time. With the library being on the third floor, it would only be a few minutes before the whole thing came crashing down. It didn't take rocket science to figure out that it was most likely the Element Fighters doing this. Fighting back against the King.

Nearly coughing up a lung, Alex waited until things were relatively silent before attempting to crawl out from under the table. There was dust, rubble, and books everywhere. She couldn't see anyone and for a moment she wondered if those girls hadn't made it. Sneezing, Alex glanced out the window, wondering if this was it or if there would be more attacks. The Element Fighters had been going hard lately. Destroying building after building. Half the town was under construction now. So many lives had been lost from innocent civilians. Not that those idiots cared one bit.

Wrapping her arms around herself, Alex glanced around before calling out. "Hello? Are you guys okay?"

Kyana had been one of the first there, her steely gaze locked on the window as she watched people, soldiers, mill about. Her lip turned up in disgust for a moment, but she dropped it when others began to filter in. She didn't know any of the other girls here, and she didn't quite want to learn who they were as she felt she had no need to get acquainted with them. That changed quickly when an explosion rocked the building, and she watched her exit become blocked.

Kyana quickly rolled out of the way of a bookcase, her eyes going wide with fear as she too dove beneath a table for protection. Didn't they know she was in there? When the dust began to clear and she heard a voice call out, she came crawling out. Coughing, she ruffled her hair to rid it of some dust, before looking at the girl. "I'm okay, are you?" For a moment she sounded caring, despite not knowing this girl. Looking at the rubble she sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Do they even think?" She grumbled, before beginning to look around for the other girls who had been in the library with them.

Oleander had been fidgeting with her pencils, trying to balance them into a pyramid and only half paying attention to the other girls in the room as she tried to keep her mind from imploding on itself out of boredom. Not being able to talk or interact with people was the worst part of detention, far worse than having a black mark on her record or having to waste her afternoon.

Then the school exploded, and she suddenly had a lot more problems than boredom. She'd been sitting near the librarian's desk while the woman prowled around the room watching them like hawks, and had barely enough time to scramble under it as the ceiling began to collapse. She trembled, eyes wide as the other survivors began to make themselves known.

"I'm-" She paused to cough, choking a bit on the dust from the rubble as she cautiously stood up, making her way to the woman's crushed body. "I'm alright, somehow?" she said in more of a questioning tone in it than she'd meant, kneeling beside the body with trembling limbs. She was supposed to become a soldier, she'd been training for years. She wasn't supposed to be so shocked and horrified at the death of one old woman she hadn't even liked. Still, her eyes filled with tears as she checked her for a pulse, for any chance she somehow survived. She might've been a hardass, but she hadn't deserved to die like this.

"Mrs. Brown's not, though," she said quietly. The Element Fighters had done this, she had no doubt. They'd murdered this woman, Oleander realized, and a familiar rage took root in the back of her mind.

Aurora had been quietly reading her book, not paying much mind to the other girls. She was completely engrossed in her book when the room came crashing in. Without any hesitation she had dove under her desk in a vein attempt to protect herself. Once the dust settled and it seemed like the walls were no longer caving in on her, she shakily climbed to her feet. “Yeah, I think I’m alright...” Aurora took a quick glance at the teacher that was watching over their detention. “Oh...poor Mrs.Brown...”

"I'm okay," Alex said to the nearest girl, rubbing dust out of her eyes. When one of the girls mentioned the state of the librarian, Alex cursed. Sidestepping past a fallen bookcase, the tall girl hurried toward the large piece of rubble that had fallen in front of their exit and onto the librarian's desk. She knelt down beside Oleander, noticing tears in her eyes. Raising a brow, Alex took off her jacket and covered the old woman's body. Even if simply so they wouldn't have to look at it. Perhaps she was coldhearted, but for some odd reason Alex wasn't all that bothered by it. Maybe her survival instincts had kicked in and later on she would be traumatized by this incident.

Standing back up, the golden-eyed girl put her hands on her hips. If she was alone, Alex would have simply jumped out the window and landed safely below, with the aid of her abilities of course. But with all these girls here and her need to stay on the DL, she couldn't exactly do that. If she wanted to get out she'd have to do it the old-fashioned way and wait for someone to come to their rescue. If anyone came at all. Dusting off her school uniform, she crossed her arms across her chest, shaking her head. "I guess we're stuck here," She said, sighing slightly. "Let's just hope this building can hold up until help arrives." The lanky girl stood awkwardly for a few seconds before the corner of her mouth twitched slightly. Her need to make light of the situation winning over. "I'm Alex, by the way."

She shifted uncertainly about the sound of being stuck in the building. She was not too certain of the structural integrity of the building. “I don’t think we should wait. The building can come crashing down on us any minute.” She glanced around the rubble that had crashed into the classroom unsure of where to start. “I’m Aurora by the way, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Oleander roughly brushed the tears from her eyes, trying to push away her sadness. She nodded gratefully to Alex when she covered Mrs. Brown's body with her jacket, glad that at least someone cared a bit about paying respects to the dead.

"I'm Oleander; kinda wish we were getting to know each other under a bit better circumstances," she said in reply to Aurora, doing her best to try and smile as she got to her feet. She took a breath, eyeing the cracks in the ceiling and the pile of rubble that blocked the door. If she was alone, she might've tried to see if she could burn a hole through the floor or wall and escape that way, but that was completely out of the question with other people around. (Setting aside what would happen if anyone ever found out about her curse, the heat it'd take to burn through the walls would probably cook the other girls.)

"I don't wanna wait here either, but unless one of us can move rocks with her mind I don't think we're getting anywhere anytime soon," she said with a sigh.

Blesse was sitting in the corner of the library when everything crashed down around her. After the dust had cleared she could see the girls at detention, had all survived the explosions, well except for Ms. Brown. She walked towards the girls and quietly stood next to Ms. Brown's body. Not one of the girls had taken notice to her yet. But she expected that, since it is completely normal in her life. She stood by the body waiting for her soul to wake up, and ask her to follow her.
"I don't wanna wait here either, but unless one of us can move rocks with her mind I don't think we're getting anywhere anytime soon," Oleander said with a sigh.
Blesse sighed, and turned towards the girls, and said out loud "Well one of us can. Right Kyana?"

Alex stopped what she was doing and turned to the girl that had spoken, raising a brow. She kept her mouth shut, too stunned to say anything. Moving rocks with her mind? She had to be joking. But then again it wasn't like Alex's abilities were a joke. They were very real. Could one of these girls have abilities like hers? Finally, when the silence was becoming borderline awkward, Alex laughed. "Ha-ha. Very funny." She said, glancing between all the girls in the room. "Isn't that funny?" Alex was going to pretend she didn't hear anything. Because if one of these girls could, in fact, move things with her mind, she'd have to be turned in to the king immediately. Before she hurt anyone or worse, joined the Element Fighters to hurt the king.

Kyana frowned, her brows furrowing at Blesse's comment. She narrowed her glittering green eyes for a moment, before looking away. "Must have been hit pretty hard over the head, hm?" She asked, turning away from the girl and towards the others. She gave a sympathetic smile, before making her way to the rubble that blocked their exit. Looking it at, she grabbed at a piece and pulled as hard as she could, but found that it was near impossible to even move the rocks. "Doesn't seem like we're getting out of here this way.." She murmured, inspecting the rock. She could easily manipulate it, pulling part of it out of the way, but that would prove idiotic since two of the girls she was near were most obviously on the King's side.
