The elder advisor never heard the guard captain as he quickly approached him. He was too deep in thought, considering what all the princess had on her schedule for the day. Depending on when the package and the young man the queen summoned arrived would determine the rest of the day, and the jeweler would need at least 2 hours for travel and selling. When his back was suddenly but softly slapped the old man jumped slightly, quickly looking back at max and reaching for his sword. He instantly relaxed as he recognized who it was.

"Ah...Max...good morning. Could have sworn I asked you to stop doing that..."

The advisor said, somewhat startled, amused, and annoyed. This had not been the first surprise attack by the guard, and every one reminded Richard he needed to be more observant of his surroundings. The next pat on the back could be a knife if he wasn't careful.
