Isabella stayed in her state for another two days following that. Her body was starting to thin and her skin was a pale white. Her stomach growled noisily some part of the day. Not being fed now for five or six days as Time was no long a construct to her body. Dehydration was also taking affect as herblips chapped and her skin began to further lose its shade in color. The doctor from beofre stopped by and told Haze, “If she does not awaken soon, She will remain in this state till the spirit leaves her body.

Meanwhile her arm and leg turned rough shades of purple and a disgusting yellow as the rusting metal affected her muscles and blood flow. It was simply unnatural and was blocking the process of fully healing. Isabella had simply ignored the pain to be strong for Haze while her body rejected the metal inside.

Haze silently waited for the doctor to turn around and start leaving, before knocking him out with one swift roundhouse kick, and murdering him with his own tools.

"How dare you say such an ominous thing..." Haze was panicking at this point, knowing he was the only one who could help Isabella, but not knowing how. The priest wasn't of any help, the doctor told him she was going to die and wasn't going to do anything about it, and Haze had no other person he could go to.

"Think, Haze...think..." He told himself, nervously pacing left and right. It was midday before he finally had an idea. "The merchant! He travels wide and far, and could have seen something of the like treated."

And that turned out to be the best option of them all. Pete the merchant took one look at the lady, and said, "She is tired, malnutritioned, and her body is dying because of something inside, where it is bruised." Haze thought for a second. He too have seen people die of infections based on rust, but this could not be the case. The metallic alloy he used was not made of steel or iron, but of metallic elements, such as silver. And Silver was known not to rust. Then just what caused-

It was then when the two men came to the conclusion. Pete looked at what Haze used to create the alloy, and said, "This little thing here can be slightly poisonous"
The element he pointed to was a very tiny dose of mercury. Normally it takes a very long time for mercury to build up and kill a person, but Isabella was tired and ill, thus her immune system weakened. Her body must have also been fairly sensitive. "What did people do when poisoned by this?" Haze asked carefully, as this was not his area of knowledge.

"They died. Or they cut off the parts that were infected." Pete answered. That was the equivalent to saying that there was no cure for it yet in this era.

"Tie her infected arm and leg so that the infected blood does not circulate her body. She has to eat up and regain energy for her body to fight against the poison. With no cure, she has to fight off the poison with her own strength. In a worse case scenario, cut the infected part off before she gets killed. In a best case senario, she will recover fast, and the poison won't be enough of a dosage to kill her anyway. Her limbs will be weaker, but she will be fine overall." Pete concluded, before making Haze an offer. "Travel with us. Protect us from bandits and wild animals, and we can help you move her to the capital, where she can have better rest and treatments."

Haze was about to reject, but the offer on helping Isabella wasn't something he could say no to. "Deal." The two men shook hands.

Isabella whimpered in her sleep. Her body no longer in a comatose but not awake either. Her parted lips chapped and begging for water. Her pale sickly skin was rough. She needed to wake up fast. She needed water in her system or she would die, and not of the mecury poisoning. But that of Dehydration. She seemed sick and pale a harsh cough wracking her fragile lungs. The merchant looked a ton her worriedly, “I’ll fetch a glass of water, wake her up.” He stayed and ran out of the room.

Haze thought of the many ways he knew of waking people up, but none of them seemed apt to a woman who fainted of malnutrition. In the end, he just ended up lightly shaking Isabella's shoulders, trying to wake her up. When was the last time she had food? It was around five days ago, when they left Nate's lodging. Haze shook his head. He had a lot to learn, but this was too high a price for the lesson. He had to wake Isabella up, have her fed, then sent to the capital to recover. Anything else would come afterwards.

Isabella woke up after a few minutes of shaking. Her mouth parted open, her chapped lips pleading for water but not a sound cane from her delicate throat. Weakly she opened her eyes and looked around wearily and spotted Haze. A ghost of a smile formed on her lips and she reached out her good arm towards him, to feel him and make sure he was real. She was in a delirious state from the large amount of sleep and the severe dehydration.

Gasping she closed her eyes, the pain was coming back in her arm and her leg. The full ache becoming much more powerful. A cough wracked her lungs and shook her delicate frame. “Haze...” she forced out and her eyes pleaded for help.

Pain. It was something everyone was afraid of, and also a indication of vulnerability to Haze. Yet unlike the countless who have screamed in pain before him, Haze did not stare at Isabella in disdain. Something had changed in him. "A merchant went to get some water." He explained, holding onto Isabella's hand. "Hold on a bit longer." The story had just turned to a new chapter, but Haze already felt like he was 10 years older.

Isabella weakly grabbed the sleeve of his shirt and grasped it with all the strength she could possibly muster. Hardly hearing whatever Haze has to say. Soon enough the Merchant came quickly up the stairs and handed Haze the glass of water and wet an new refilled pitcher on the bedside table. He was too scared to approach the hardly awake Isabella in fear of Haze. He knew he had to play it safe for Haze to work with them.

Haze didn't know if Isabella was strong enough to swallow on her own, so he did what he did back in Nate's lodging; he put the water in his mouth, then pressed his lips against Isabella's. The water pumped out of his mouth and down her throat, with the kiss he was doing. It was a trick with pressure, the same way water travel upwards on a straw. He repeatedly sent water from the cup to his mouth, then to Isabella's mouth, until the cup was empty. "I will do everything to save you. I promise." He whispered to Isabella.

Isabella was half asleep when Haze kissed her. She had zoned out and was out of it till Haze brought her back with kiss after kiss. Forcing her to drink water. Her body begged for more after not having received water for such a long period of time. Her lips stayed open in case he had more water. Gently, Isabella kept her eyes as open as she could and looked st Haze. The smallest blush rising when he stated he’d save her. She didn’t understand fully. But she knew if was special. She gave him a weak but true smile. The groaned in pain as her body began to feel the ache from the metal joints and her fever from the mecury.
