[RP]Mysteries of Pendulum Tower

Post by ShaFlow » Sun Apr 29, 2018 12:54 am

"Huzaah!"

The tavern rumbled with the many cries of adventurers raising steel mugs of cold brewed ale to the ceiling. Sharing tales of their travels, expeditions and discoveries. Every so often a mug would slam onto the taverns wooden tables. Either at hearty laughter or disagreements. Only rarely would a fight break out and even then would it be cheered on. The tavern staff scrambled constantly keeping mugs to the brim and plates fresh with food.

Crash!

A burst of excitement came from a small crowd huddled around a table."Drinks are on you tonight! Aha!"

Gwyn stood atop a bench, arms held out and chest puffed. Taking in the crowds enjoyment. Across from him a person of similar build rubbed the bicep of one arm actively. "Bloody ell! " They cringed at the aching muscles. A simple arm wrestling match to prove dominant physical strength and the green haired blacksmith became victorious.

"Oi! I told you that these arms the ones that brought down a cyclops with ease!" Gwyn slapped his bicep proudly while flexing. A confident grin stretched across his face. Tonight for him drinks were free and for everyone else in the tavern!

For anyone not wanting to be apart of the common rabble there are always rooms available. So long as you pay the fine and clean up, the tavern staff could care less about what goes on in their rooms or outside for that matter.

Bluebell was not the kind of girl you would find in any sort of Tavern, especially not one as rowdy as this. But, as fate would have it, she found herself in one. Sat at a table far from the large crowd that was forming, Bluebell quietly sipped on her ale, something she disliked. One could call her a bit of a sheltered gal, who hadn't experienced very much in life outside the calming environment of a simple farm. But the need for funds had thrust her into an entirely new world, one she was a little less than eager to explore than she thought. A sigh escaped her lips as she took another drink, her green eyes searching the crowd for any sort of kind face.

Her thoughts were disrupted rather abruptly by the loud commotion from the table, as a man stood triumphant in what appeared to be an arm-wrestling fight of sorts. Bluebell studied the group, frowning just the slightest; She had never experienced such a rowdy bunch, and the noise was already putting her nerves on edge. Listening to his claim of taking down a whole Cyclops, Bluebell couldn't help but smirk in amusement. Some folk were so eager to prove themselves, that they would fabric such a lie. Perhaps it wasn't a lie though, and if it were true, she would gladly give her respect to this man. She had paid for a room in advance, having planned to stay at the Tavern for a night before continuing her journey. Sometimes she believed that if she had merely just married some rich boy from her town, she wouldn't be in this situation. Bluebell's pride was just too much on that very day, and now she was heading for a place she had never seen, to attempt to gain the funds to support her suffering family. A pang of guilt struck her heart, as she imagined her disabled father and mother toiling away on a farm that was falling apart with each passing day. She had to leave them, though, for if she remained it would only make it more difficult to provide food on the table. Bluebell chased away her guilty thoughts with another drink of ale, before realizing she had finished the mug all to quickly. Perhaps she liked it much more than she originally thought.

As Gwyn was cheered on by the rapscallions the man's face flushed with red. Exploding into a rage, ramming both fists onto the table. A sturdy object it was, mugs fell over, and the scattered coins fell to the ground. Rising explosively it didn't force a flinch from Gwyn.

"You cheated, you bastard!" The mans breath stained heavily of alcohol. Rolling up his sleeves he slammed the elbow of his arm on the table surface.

"Double or nothin! I win you gotta pay for me travel expenses, plus the extra drinks for this ere tavern!" The group became still with murmurs.

A confident smile stretched his face. Vigorously placing his elbow and clasping the others hand.

"I'll bet me sword ere well. Made of the rarest me'tals around!" The green haired man locked eyes determined.

"Deal on then!"

The two readied themselves, as the group watched closely for any signs of "cheating".

"3...2...1...go!"

Both of the men clenched their muscles and twisted their hips. The drunken buffoon tried his ever so hardest. Even with two arms Gwyns strength was unmatched compared. All Gwyn could do was chuckle at the weak attempt."I guess you could say I had a lot of one handed practice." With a hefty twist, and clenched jaw Gwyn overpowered the man. Slamming his arm not only into the table, but lifting him off of the seat into the air once letting go. Spinning like a top, his trajectory would send him off towards a green eyed girl minding her own business.

Despite the mess, the groups rambunctious shenanigans only became louder.

Bluebell had little time to react as a man came slamming into her table. Yelling in a mixture of surprise and pain as the table itself splintered, she leaped up and out of any possible danger. Quickly her hand came down to hold her knee, where a splinter had found it's home. She felt small droplets of blood forming around the small area as she yanked it out, wincing in pain as she did so.

Having extracted the cause of her pain, Bluebell quickly wrapped her hand around the fallen man's wrist and yanked him up, quickly looking him over. It was a like second instinct, to quickly inspect anyone she thought could possibly be injured, but this man seemed fine. Aside from a few bruises and cuts, as well as some sore muscles, the man seemed relatively unharmed. Now turning her attention to the other man, who had so carelessly tossed the other about. "Watch it next time!" Bluebell yelled, brushing off her pants before maneuvering her way to the bar. There, she quickly spoke with one of the employees, who motioned to a hallway; Where the rooms were. She was more than eager to get out of the chaos, now that she had realized it wasn't the best place for someone as 'frail' as her to be.

"Serves you right!"

With a loud and obnoxious laugh,Gwyn snatched a mug of ale from the table and chugged it down heartily. Slamming it with a large sigh of satisfaction. "Sorry about that love!" Gwyn called out to Bluebell in an attempt of an apology."Could I make it up to you? A nice cold one?" As she proceeded to talk to the barkeep it was at the moment the man really took a good look at her.

Curious...

Gwyn with heavy footsteps he approached Bluebell."Oi, you're a bit different than the rest of us here. So what's your make?"

He made sure to lean his elbow on the edge of the bar in the path of the rooms. Taking a good look at her face then equipment there were a few ideas of who she could be.

"Ah right, allow me to introduce me self and be a gentleman..."

Gwyn extended out his arm. Hoping for a shake.

"The names Gwyn. Blacksmith by trade. Drunken nuisance by choice love."

Bluebell rolled her eyes as she heard the apology from behind her. She didn't want to be caught up in anymore rivalries, so she merely shook her head and remained silent. Her attempt at quickly getting away were squashed when she heard Gwyn's heavy footsteps approaching her. Not knowing if he was completely black-out drunk or sober enough to carry a good conversation, but Bluebell was a bit hesitant to find out. His comments on her looking 'different' were nothing new; She stuck out like a sore thumb. A flower in a field of brambles as one might say, she didn't look like the sort to partake in such drinking games that happened so often in taverns.

Attempting to ignore his comment, Bluebell began to walk away until he stopped right in front of her. She wasn't afraid to hit him, even though that would most likely do little to nothing. Her eyes shifted down at the hand that was extended towards her, as Gwyn decided to properly introduce himself. She didn't feel like dealing with this all, but it seemed she had no other choice. Placing her hand in his and gently shaking it, she sighed.

"Bluebell. I'm a Medic or an Herbalist, whatever folk around here call it nowadays."

After shaking his hand, Bluebell crossed her arms in front of her chest. "Is there uh.. Anything you need?" She asked, looking past him and towards the rooms. She grimaced at the idea of sleeping on those uncomfortable and probably dangerous beds, but it was the best she could do for tonight. In the morning she would be gone, travelling out and towards her destination.

The man's grip was firm like well tempered iron. After all, a lot about a man can be said just from a handshake alone.

"Bluebell, a pleasure to make your acquaintance!"

After releasing her hand, Gwyn couldn't help but crack his knuckles. A habit picked up from travels."Actually, now that you mention it I would like to ask you of something."

With both arms crossing his broad chest, Gwyn paused for a moment. He took a deep breath trying to gather his thoughts."I'd like to ask...you're heading for the tower aren't ya?" It would be a safe assumption. Most who stay at this Inn expect to enter the forest and head for the tower. Such was the reason he was here after all.

"If so, would you be interested in joining me? The forest is too dangerous to attempt on one's own. Certainly could use someone of your talents."

Quickly glancing over to the group they had been silently chatting to themselves."This is probably the last time I'll get to see em. Been travelling for a few months together but we split here. So, sorry if my first impression wasn't exactly 'appealing' ". For once throughout their short interaction Gwyn's loud vocals softened.

Bluebell was just a tad surprised at the man's question. She hadn't really experienced the real world, save for the few times she accompanied her father into the city, so she didn't know the whole reason behind the Tavern. "Yes, I am." She said, her eyes curiously glancing over them man.

His second question was even more surprising than the last. She didn't quite expect to be offered companionship by anyone so quickly, especially not a mere night before she was to head off. Bluebell pondered for a moment, still unsure if she could fully place her trust in Gwyn. For all she knew, he could easily be a bandit who took to luring adventurous and young travelers into the forest, only to steal their things and leave them for death. Ok, perhaps her imagination was running a bit wild, but it was a justified thought.

"Join you?" She echoed, before glancing around. "I mean, I suppose I could. My skills would be useful in a lot of situations." Bluebell smiled, before following his eyes to the group that Gwyn had been with a moment before. Her eyes softened as he told her that it would be his last time with them, and she frowned again.

"Don't worry. I've seen worse first impressions." She had seen and met many people on her journey here, but few every managed to peak her interest like he did. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well Gwyn, by the way." She added, a small smile appearing on her face once more.

Caiden Aldwyn was wrapped in his cloak with his hood pulled up over his head. He was sitting in a back corner shaded in darkness while he smoked on his pipe watching the other patrons in the tavern. Many of them were the usual wild drunk fools that you would find in most of the more shady taverns commonly found everywhere but there was some exceptions. Two of which he was watching in particular at that moment. A young man and woman who both seem to have the same destination in mind as him. He would have to keep Abbey on them in order to see if they were people he could possibly trust or not.

As the commotion from the arm wrestling match ensued in the tavern, across town a masked Oryx worked hurriedly in his unlocked cell to produce a cure for a guard who was bitten by a venomous snake. While he was working, he thought back to when he was shown to the king and told how the answer to his condition could be found at Pendulum Tower. As people know, even though a person can be well versed in a profession, they can still make mistakes. This was the case for Oryx as while he was reminiscing, he poured the wrong oil into a potential remedy, starting a reaction that could lead to an explosion, or a frothy bottle of water. Not taking any chances, fearing for his undead life and the guards outside, he chucked the bottle out the window and ran with the other possible remedies. As he reached the guards and left them with their choice of the bottles, he heard the bottle shatter on the ground as well as an explosion. He ran to the nearest window to see a "small" crater (small enough to not interfere with traffic, large enough to fit a person curled up in a ball). To his relief, there were no casualties, but he noticed a group of people coming to investigate the explosion.

Fearing for his life and the adventurers (and villagers) escorting him, he woke them up, explained to the guards the situation asking them not to mention him, donned a disguise (including his mask), and left from a rear entrance. Once they were across town, they entered a tavern in order for the escort to fully rest. While looking around, in awe of the tavern, he met eyes with a rather muscular man with a rather large sword in the middle of a conversation with a woman. In an attempt to be inconspicuous, he quickly turned his head and began to walk back to his group.
