Lost in Autumn

(Don't forget to mark!)

The day was one long awaited for; The launching of 'Fall's Song', mankind's most lucrative invention yet. It was the first Light-Speed ship known to the Solar System, and one that would carry the hopes of everyone upon it. The sun that gave us life was expanding, and already it had cast a planet or two into sweltering heat. It would only be a matter of time before it imploded on itself, taking every species in the System with it. That wouldn't happen, though, as the N.O.S.E promised that this new ship would make it to a distant world to scout it out, before returning with their findings. The crew on Fall's Song was special in their own unique ways; Each person was highly skilled in a very select craft, making it so only the best of the best got onto the ship. It took a lot of planning and even more bribery to keep certain groups quiet about the plans, but eventually the crew was complete. They were expected to meet in the Astronaut's Lobby, to greet each-other and prepare for the journey ahead. After getting situated, the crew would meet with the media out in the real lobby, before boarding the massive ship and setting off.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
It was like any other day for Kivaa; except now she had to be escorted from her simple apartment to a highly sophisticated motorcade. She had never been in one, as she had never been such an important person. Now, though, being the Captain of a ship that would lead the entire Solar System to safety, she supposed it was only right that she be escorted in such a way. Kivaa already knew who her fellow crew would be; She had been tasked with researching them beforehand to get some knowledge on what they would be doing while aboard. She felt a little intrusive, searching through various social medias to get an understanding of these people, but she was told it was only for the greater good. If a Captain didn't know her crew, then she had no reason to be a Captain in the first place, right?

Kivaa didn't have much time to dwell on the ideas behind borderline stalking as the Motorcade finally arrived at the N.O.S.E Headquarters. She could see the ship just behind the building, sitting idly on the launching pad; It was a straight masterpiece. It was larger than anything she had ever seen, but she had little time to stare at it in awe as she was ushered into the building. Kivaa made her way to the Private Astronaut's Lobby, where she waited patiently for the rest of her crew to arrive.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Pepper had been hanging around the building since the early morning, and had a good laugh or two when reporters asked her about who she thought was in the crew. Her two ears swiveled at each individual noise, and she knew by the sounds of flashing cameras that the Captain's Motorcade had just arrived. With an opportunity to slip into the building unseen, Pepper slid past various cameras and microphone wielding reporters and into the headquarters without a second glance. She was dressed in simplistic clothing; A green tanktop and jeans. Nothing one would expect from a future 'Security Officer' on the Fall's Song. Pepper was also awestruck by the size of the ship, but she had ample time to process the fact that she would be diligently guarding it in only a few hours.

As she entered the building, she only got a few odd glances as she made her way through the halls. Having stopped in the restroom to gather herself, she knew the Captain would already be in the lobby waiting for her and the others. The idea of meeting other people who she'd have to share quarters with for who knows how long was more than enough to bother her. Pepper had always been a bit of a loner, preferring to do things on her own than in groups. She wasn't opposed to the idea, though, and thought that having people to talk to was always nice. As she slipped out of the restroom and towards the Private Lobby, she felt a sense of pride in her. Pepper's parents always had pride in her, and now she could carry that pride with her wherever she went. As she entered the Lobby, she gave a simple greeting to the Captain and took a seat on the opposite side of her.

Yria got out of the expensive car that had been chosen for her appearance at the building; her hair was mostly open, except for the traditional decoration placed in it holding it together like hairties in the front. Her keen eyes wandered over the journalists that were surrounding her car now, only held back by barriers. She showed a small, professional smile as she posed a bit for the journalists, knowing they would eat it up immediately and use the chance. Having journalist friends she of course already gave a nice interview to them to help them in their career before leaving for the trip. Her ears twitched slightly at the many sounds surrounding her. The blonde was wearing a curve-hugging doctor's gown with a fitting coat on it, there was nothing the journalists loved more than a perfect shot, and Yria was ready to hand it to them. Strutting toqards the building, she waved at some of the journalists, even recognizing some from previous big events that had taken place in honor of her miraculous work. Her long strides were quite enchanting to the eye, and she was happy she had practiced a professional appearance for a long time. As soon as the doors closed behind her, she let out a little breath, heading towards the lobby, where she was probably being awaited. Yria's tail swayed behind her smoothly as she approached it, smiling at some random workers.

Finally she arrived, approaching the captain with a sweet smile, introducing herself politely. "Good afternoon, Kivaa, it's nice to meet you in person, finally." The Katjui let her gaze wander a bit, not shy about examining strangers' or friends' bodies thanks to her work.
Love, Kitty!

When Xerxes was told he was going to be chauffeured in a luxurious car, he was honoured, but at the same time... it didn’t feel right. Instead, he asked his father to walk with him to the lab. “N.O.S.E. is a very, VERY good company to be working for.” Xerxes’ father told him as his son stepped onto the carpet, fully absorbed by all the cameras and flashing lights. Never in his life would he guess that HE would receive so much attention from the press. His suit was definitely nothing pretty - heck, it wasn’t even FANCY, but it was what he thought best fit the job. He figured that if he wore something plain the photographers wouldn’t obsess over him, but that turned out poorly in his favour, as it inspired journalists to make tonnes of stories. “I can see it now!” He joked aloud, “Shock!: Member Of intergalactic team ditches formality for comfort.” As he was about to enter the private lab, he turned back to his father and smiled. “Promise me you’ll find mum, okay Dad?”
“Cross my heart and hope to die I will.”

Stepping inside he saw the various crew members already assembled. “G-good day” He stammered, trying to contain his excitement, “my name is Xerxes Darkbite..... can’t wait to work with you all.” He swiftly bowed swiftly walking to a corner of the room, stamping his feet in anticipation.

William Thorton had spent most of the morning going over the security roster of the Fall's Song, double checking to be sure that he knew all of the names on the list. He wanted, needed, to remember each and every soul he would be responsible for on the upcoming odyssey. By the time he got the call, the old soldier had gone over the list over a dozen times. Thorton put the tablet into his bag and left his apartment, getting into the simple sedan waiting outside. He stared out the window, possibly the last time he'd see this solar system again. Most of his gear was already aboard the Fall's Song, so he didn't need to worry. The only thing left was his revolver, which was in its concealed carry holster on his hip. Thorton patted it gently to reassure himself.

As soon as the car pulled up to N.O.S.E. Headquarters, Thorton walked briskly into the facility. He followed the directions into the private lobby. Dressed in plain jeans and a flannel shirt, the only thing betraying his identity was the set of dog tags around his neck. The old soldier saluted Kivaa before taking a seat. "A pleasure to meet you, ma'am."

Project E.D.E.N was quite happy to hear back that the captain gave an okay for their testing run on the Fall's Song. The scientists were ecstatic to see their little girl grown up and ready to be apart of the world. Something like this was going to be one for the history books and they wanted Eden to be right up there. It would make it better somehow if the first humanoid A.I was apart of something like the Fall's Song. Certain of its success they figured they could piggyback on that to get people to accept the illegal and highly immoral research they'd done. Of course only the captain knew about this little project and they might've forced them to sign an agreement that she wasn't allowed to let people know about her new crew mate.

The media had swarmed members of the venture about who this new mystery engineer was that'd take over as head engineer. She was pretty much a no name that didn't really come up in any databases. The PR department played her off as a genius that just went below the radar. Eden didn't like all the fuss being made over her and she didn't want to be in front of cameras. It made her worried someone would figure her out and they'd tear her apart right there for what she was. When she approached the scientist with these concerns so they made arrangements. Eden was to be brought in from another area where the press wouldn't bother her.

The young A.I brushed a bit of her brown hair from her eyes as she quietly walked towards the meet up location. Her knowledge of her to interact with others was still low so she planned on analyzing the others first. So when she finally walked into the room the short woman didn't say much of a word, seeming a bit shy as she stood off to the side. More or less Eden was working up the nerver to speak to them as she walked each one come in. They easily caught her interest and peaked her curiosity, now wasn't a time to jump in with no knowledge.

Sarah sat in her complete automatic car and looked out the window. The Fall’s Son ship with the first ever lightspeed engine. She was quiet proud of it. She and a handful of others developed the engines and a few other applications of the ship. She had become very accustomed to the ship which would be very useful when running it. She sank back in her seat and looked at her helmet. It looked more like a head set with a retractable visor but its use it to serve as a helmet. She strapped in on her head and turned on the hologram to review profiles of the crew she would be working with. Mainly just people in command and her group. However she didn’t know who the head of the engineering department is. Apparently it is some big secret. Of cause she would image she will figure it out. Sarah will need to.

Nearing the Fall’s Song station, Sarah told Daygon to intense the tint on the windows. She didn’t want the swarm of journalist looking at her yet. The windows darkened a little. Daygon is her personal A.I. Physically he is a silver chrome orb floating around Sarah’s head. Her own design as well as her light mech suit she always wears. Not a single soul knows how she developed it and plans to keep it that way.

Her car smoothly stopped in front the station. She looked out the window and saw the sheer number of journalists and cameras. They already started snapping pictures and shouted over each other. The tint however reflect everything. Growing a little nervous she got out of her car and stood to face it. This was her favourite car. Silver and black paint covered it with gold ascents. Normally Sarah is fine with being in front of cameras but she has a lot on her mind and extra noise is the last thing she needs right now. Journalists pushed to hold the microphone in front of her but the security did a decent job to keep them away. She paced herself and kept her expression neutral and professional. Daygon floated over her right shoulder constantly scanning the area.

Right before she entered the station she heard a journalist shout, “Do you have any last words?”

Sarah stopped and looked over her shoulder. It was a male Katjiu and the question he asked felt really personal. It was like he was saying she will never return. She stood there and stared and would of continued to do so if Daygon didn’t give her a small zap. Sarah walked inside and the doors closed behind her, leaving her in peace. Besides the low hum of the machines that worked throughout the facility.

“Thank you for that.”

“You welcome.” Daygon replied with a male voice.

Sarah walked through the foreroom and into a corridor. She went to the briefing room where she was told to wait. Upon arrival, crew members of the Fall’s Song are already there. A hologram started over her left eye. Information started feeding through it every-time she looked at someone. Profiles stored in Daygon’s database. However there was one person she had no profile. Immediately she assumed it is the ‘big secret’ many have been fussing about.
“Day…” Using her nickname for Daygon, “Is that the head engineer?”

“No record of her. I’ll keep track of her.”

Sarah studied the engineer intently. She knew something wasn’t right.

“Lets go have a talk.”

She walked over to the brown headed human. She turned off her hologram and slightly lifted her helmet. Daygon followed over her shoulder.
She openly greeted, “Hi, I’m Sarah. I haven’t really seen you around.”

Elijah arrived shortly after a sleek, silver and black car left. He assumed it was one of the crew members. He rocked up in a Rolls Royce simply because he could. Privileges for working in N.O.S.E. The driver is part of the Royal katjui navy however. A bridge officer who was handpicked by Elijah. In other words, they are good friends.

In front of the N.O.S.E HQ, the driver stopped the car, got out and opened the door for Elijah. Elijah stepped out and shook his mates hand.
“Guess this is it then. See you who knows when.”

“It will be a party when you return successful.”

“Lets hope so.”

Keeping it professional, Elijah faced towards the crowd. Swarms of different media companies surrounded him. He kept his eyes and ears straight. Not giving any contact to the media. After all he is the Captain of the katjui fleet but not the. Fall’s Song. He is the Navigator, second in command this time and he will make sure he knows his place.

When the doors closed behind him. He dropped his tail to the ground and flattened his ears slightly. So much fuss and annoying noises outside slightly out him off. He is used to discipline which he hoped he will get from the crew. This is an important mission, maybe the most important ever in history. Only the best of the best are allowed to take part in it. So he expects respect from the crew.

When he walked in the lobby, many were already there. He knew some faces but he decided to go to the Captain of the ship first.

Eden was doing her thing watching as crew mates entered the lobby and started mingling. Many of them knew each other it seemed which made her assessments much easier. It gave her a clue into how close people act around each other and how she would act later on. It felt so odd being out of the lab for once, the walls weren't pure white and the air wasn't so sterile. There was a freedom to not having to worry about the scientists and having a test to do. Eden found it quite interesting to see all the different races that were apart of the crew. Sure the lab was filled with a different races but there was only one or two. Not a strong enough sample size to analyze how the race acts around people they know.

The young woman was caught off guard completely when someone walked over and started speaking to her. The moment her eyes landed on her she recognized it was someone from her department. She wasn't sure why someone would speak to her since she made no movement to speak to anyone else. Her eyes shifted towards the woman's noting the V.I? She hoped it was a V.I atleast, A.I of any kind were pretty much illegal and were highly frowned upon." Ah um..Hello, my name is Eden. I've been asked to take up the mantle of looking after the ship and the engineering department. They kinda brought me on last second." Eden spoke calmly, thankful that they had her rehearse that line for when she first meets people.

Looking around the place, his eyes darted from person to person. People from all sorts of walks of life were here!; Captains, pilots, mercanaries... even a mechatronic engineer! He wanted to start a conversation with Kivaa to hear the low down, but the captain was already chatting with somebody else. He then turned his attention to the only other Canissary there; Pepper.
“Hiya!” He chirped as he approached her. “Where exactly are you from? Us Canissaries gotta be tighter than bark on a tree, so I wanna learn a lot about you. Do tell me if I get annoying, I tend to get carried away with my... well... everything.” He grinned awkwardly, but cheerfully, scratching the back of his head. “Have you been to Cupid? I’m from there. Lovely place, isn’t it? Has there been anywhere you like in particular?”
He tried to suppress his tail from wagging, but failed to do so, this he turned his back to the wall in hope nobody else would notice.

Sarah considered what she said. The fact that Eden was caught a little off guard says a lot. She probably hadn’t had a lot of interaction and she probably is a little shy.

“Oh really. It must of been a rush then. Is that why no one knows about you?”

- - -

Elijah walked up to the two women. He already knew Kivaa but he didn’t know this stunning feline. He was a little caught off guard by her beauty. No doubt a medic by the patch on her shoulder. He waited for them too to finish talking before he introduced himself.

Kivaa rose from her seat as others poured into the lobby. She greeted each one personally, but soon she began to frown. She was the only of her kind on this crew, and that made her feel s but alienated. Shaking the thought of being alone from her mind, she plastered on a smile and adjusted the jewelry on her horns. “It is a pleasure to meet you all. Get to know each other, we’ll be leaving shortly.” Her voice was stern and commanding, a trait she picked up while training for her job. Smoothing out the two piece dress she wore, she glanced over to every member of the crew. They all seemed well equipped, but they could be absolutely horrific to work with. Kivaa sighed, gently sitting down in her seat once more to think over her decisions.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Pepper watched everyone pour in, her bright yellow eyes scanning over everyone. Her concentration was disrupted by the sudden excited chatter from the Canissary Scientist who had decided to learn about her. She listened to all his questions, before flashing a grin. “Not even going to ask my name, hm?” Pepper smoothed her hair back, ears twitching in to every other conversation. “I’m from Venus, one of the domes.” Her eyes wandered over this man, who seemed a bit too excited by the way his tail wagged. She chuckled, before adjusting her shirt and leaning forward a bit. “I’ve been to Cupid. Hunted down a space pirate or two there.” Pepper glanced over her other crew mates, before answering the man’s last question. “In particular? Europa. Gorgeous cities and plains.” She smiled, finishing the line of questions that had barraged her.
