Darryl nodded at Baldrick and stood up, patting his leg for Charlie and his chest to follow. He soon found himself in Char's presence, and saluted him. "Reporting for duty." He spoke and then lowered his salute. He wondered to himself if he should have ditched his armor, but decided against it. After all, he was probably going to need it.

Vincent returned the salute and, after finding a replacement, made his way to the entrance followed shortly by his chest. Being a skeleton he had very little in the way of personal belongings, everything he owned was safely rattling in redwood. As he approached he saw Darryl and Char, and approached them.

"Gentleman. Sorry I'm late, I was patrolling the other side of the camp. Had to get someone else to take my place."

The skeleton said with a salute.

Darryl looked in Vincent's direction as he spoke and nodded, saluting him in return. He lowered his salute and stood casually. "It's quite alright. We're still waiting on Baldrick to return." He responded.

As the trio waited, Baldrick came running back.
“Where have you been Baldrick?”
Asked a mildly annoyed Char.
“Sorry sir, I had to get my things.”
Said Baldrick.
“Well then, bow that you’re all here, I need to tell you about the mission Commander Vimes gave us.” Said Char, “We are to infiltrate Lord Melchett’s light infantry and keep an eye on the regular army, to keep them from escalating the war, they are due to march going to Gebra in Klatch, they will be taking the land route, commander Vimes each gave us a horse, so we won’t have to suffer the march, the recruiters will ask us about our professions but under no circumstances do you tell them you are from the Watch, Baldrick, don’t ever say a word for your recruiting, let me do the talking.”
Finished Char as Baldrick nodded.
“Alright, lets ride to their camp.”
With that, the four rode off towards Lord Melchett’s camp.

*Melchett’s light infantry regimental camp*
“First name?”
“Charles.”
“Last name?”
“Aznavour.”
“Occupation?”
“On and off Assassin for the Assassin’s guild.”
“Any combat experience?”
“Does fact that I mentioned I’m an assassin not gotten through to your minute brain good man?”
“Oh, sorry then, welcome aboard, next!”
Said the recruiter as After Char, came Baldrick.
“First name?”
Baldrick stood silent.
“First name?”
Asked the recruiter getting mildly annoyed.
Char told Baldrick to go ahead.
“Sod off.”
“I beg your pardon?!”
Asked the bewildered Recruiter.
“Baldrick!”
Snapped Char.
“Don’t be rude to the man!”
Added Char.
“First name?”
Asked the recruiter after having composed himself.
“Sod off.”
Said Baldrick, the recruiter sighed.
“Look here you cheeky little monkey, if I ask your name, you answer me properly, one more sod off and I’ll boot you out of here!”
Said the recruiter, Baldrick looked confused.
“But sir, my name is sod off.”
Char and recruiter looked blankly at Baldrick as they tried to process what he just said.
“Your name is sod off?”
Asked the Recruiter.
“Yes sir.”
“How?”
“Well, when I was young, and whenever I asked the children if they knew who I was, they would say; "Yes we know, Sod off Baldrick".”
Char cannot help but cringe a bit, and the recruiter just stared.
“So, S. Baldrick then.”
Said the Recruiter.
“Occupation?”
“Let me answer that.”
Said Char.
“He’s my manservant.”
“Okay, does he have any combat experience?”
“He has bravely fought against earwigs.”
“Okay, welcome aboard, next!”

Darryl went next, walking up casually.
"First name."
"Darryl, sir."
"Last name?"
"Allison."
"Combat experience? "
Darryl hesitated for a moment, not sure what to tell the man.
"Well?" The recruiter demanded.
"I used to be a guard a while back. And I've been in a couple wars." He replied at last.
The recruiter eyed him for a second.
"Alright good enough. Next!"
Darryl exhaled a breath he didn't know he was holding and met up with Char and Baldrick.

Vincent walked up last, and the recruiter didn't even bother looking up from his papers as he spoke to the skeleton.

"First name?"
"Vincent"
"Last name?"
"Marrow?"
"Occupation?"
"I've been dead..."

The man finally looked up, the annoyed look on his face suddenly disappearing as he noticed the man in front of him was undead. He sighed and returned to his paperwork

"Most recent occupation then."
"I've found some work as a bodyguard. I was a soldier before I died though."
"That takes care of combat experience. Make sure your gear is combat ready. Welcome aboard, Next!"

Vincent simply nodded and walked past the recruiter, followed by his chest.

“So what now sir?”
Asked Baldrick.
“I go report to Lord Melchett, I’ll try to throw my name aroudn and see if he’ll make me an officer, makes things easier for all of us.” Said Char “You lot stay here and try not to get into trouble.”
With that, he left them.

*Lord Melchett’s command tent*
Lord Melchett fancied himself the very model of a modern major general, as well as progressive, he allowed women into the ranks of his forces despite the misgivings of the other nobility, which comes in handy if you want somebody to make tea around here, all the other louts wouldn’t know how to brew a good pot of tea or coffee, as he waited patiently for his second in command, Clara Darling, to give him his tea, he heard a commotion.
“He’s a very busy man!”
“And so am I!”
Shouted two voices outside as he went to check.
“What’s going on here?!”
He asked, Char and Darling were facing him, with Clara holding a pot of tea,
“Sir! This man is trying to get to you so you could give him a promotion to captain.”
Said Clara.
“And I told you, I have the skills and discipline to back it up! And I’m also nobility, which gives me the right to be one!”
Said Char.
“And who are you my lad?”
Asked Melchett.
“Charles Aznavour sir! Son of Astrea Aznavour, A Quirmian noblewoman who moved into Ankh-Morpork years ago, we run a cheese business.”
Said Char, Melchett rubbed his chin a bit.
“Alright Darling, give the man a rank of captain, I want the paperwork at my desk within the day!”
“But sir—“
“We don’t use that sort of language here Darling, now give the man his commission so I can have my tea!”
Said Melchett, bordering on screaming.
“Yes sir...”
Muttered Clara.
"The world is not beautiful, therefore it is."

Darryl nodded acknowledging Char's words. Once he had left, Darryl found a rock to sit on, and took his place. After sitting there for a few minutes, Darryl retrieved his whetstone from his chest and went to sharpening his blade once again, determined to keep a straight edge on the sword. Charlie trotted up to his master and flopped down onto the ground in front of Darryl, looking around casually.

"I make no promises..."

Vincent joked as char went off to try and get promoted. Taking a seat near Darryl Vincent simply keep watch over the slowly growing crowd of soldiers. So far no one else seemed overly interested in them, but all it took was one former inmate to recognize them and ruin the entire plan.

Darryl pauses his sharpening and looked up at Vincent. "Do you recognize anyone?" He asked him quietly. Darryl doubted anyone he knew was here, but better safe than sorry. He guessed if the three of them looked busy nobody would bother them. Or so, he hoped.
