The Sky is Falling

Post by HoneyBuzz » Mon Mar 19, 2018 1:17 am

Six people stood quietly on a sunken platform. Around them, twenty men and women of varying races whispered to one another. Their voices had hints of fear, doubt, and even disbelief. They wore ornate robes, and small name plaques were set up in front of them. Finally, the man at the very head of the circular table stood. "Do you have any faith?"His voice echoed in the large chambers, silencing everyone. His attention turned to the six people, their faces hidden by shadows. "You've been brought here for a purpose. I suppose your race's personal council has told you?" He did not wait for their responses, and instead slammed his hands down onto the table. "There is no turning back. If you decide to refuse, you will find that you have a cell in the dungeons with your name on it."He motioned to the multiple guards surrounding the room. "Our islands have begun to fall. The crystals that have held up our homes for generations are weakening. You are the best of your respective people, personally chosen by the Great Council. The only hope we have of our continued survival rests upon the broken surface. His face grew pale, as he imagined what horrors lurked below. "As you know, nobody has seen the surface since the Upheaval. But we do know that there are more crystals down there. Your task is by no means simple, but you are all we have left. You must travel to the surface below, and bring back more crystals; Enough to continue keeping the islands afloat." The Councilman stopped for a moment, looking to the others. "Any equipment you could ever want or need is located in the Armory. You have full choice of our finest weapons and armor; When you are fully equipped, you will be escorted to the docks. There will be no goodbyes to your family or friends, we do not want any of you having any doubts." The man waved his hand, bidding the other Councilmen and women to rise."Do not disappoint us." His voice was somber, the message a clear warning. If this small group failed their task, the blood of thousands would be on their hands. With his final words, the entire Council quickly filed out of the room, leaving only the small group to deliberate on what their plans would be.

(First Bois)

Quentyn Andarian, blacksmith by trade, was the tallest person in the room. This was not a fact that bothered him, as he had always been rather talk, but he had also always been dwarfed by his master, a giant of a man who stood 7'6", and being the absolute tallest was a new experience for him.

He had listened closely as the council set out the group's task, filling away any questions he had for a later date. As he looked at the other members of the group, he wondered what made him worthy to stand among these nobles and heroes. Along with being the tallest he was also clearly the least experienced.

"So, I suppose we need to create a plan."

He wasn't addressing anyone in particular, and he hoped at least one of the others would take charge.

Nessa Kriley. Her small stature seemed elegant in her festive dress, listening to the important speech, her hair slightly wavy and her posture carefree yet gracious. She had prepared thoroughly for this. Her mind was racing with curiousity and excitement. For days her thoughts were circling around the surface: Nobody except the small group has ever seen it after the Upheaval; It was unknown what dangers and beauty rested there. She seemed a bit lost in thought for a second, before returning to the matter at hand. Her eyes wandered to the tall man of their group, who had asked what thwy would do now.

"We need armor and weapons." She mentioned quietly. "So let's get those.. after that we will leave. It's simple. So let's go to the Armory.." Nessa was speaking in a friendly tone, she was curious about her company anyways.

Gomda was fairly uncomfortable in the gathered crowd people looking exceptionally fancy and dressed up was a little strange to him, he had to wear a shirt, which seemed a bit much. He was ready to get this over with, figure this all out, get some crystals or whatever and get back to the farm, without all these finicky angry folks. Gomda's still has to feel sad that he isn't the largest individual here despite being the only orc in the group.

"What's there to plan? You need some kind of information to make a plan. I imagine we should get what we need to survive down there, who knows if there is even food or water down there." He found himself following the cute little human, he always was fond of humans.

Elijah stood tall but quiet, hoping to not look like he was out of the crowd, nor necessarily fitting perfectly into it. He held his ability at standby, sneaking it in his pocket with his fist in a ball. That's the only way he can activate it, until he can learn using only his mind. Elijah's thoughts were scattered and fast, and while looking at other people he couldn't concentrate. Staying quiet, Eli just nodded along to the plans thrown out.

"Weapons would be the best bet for my survival.. I mean.. our survival. Dammit Eli, think like a teammate. This is your team now.. it's not about you. But,
maybe it could be.. No, quiet. It's us.
" Elijah argued with himself in his head. All he desired was power, and with that it became more and more clear at what his goals will be; to kill everyone weaker. But for now, Elijah must do what he can with who he can.

"I agree with the Orc.. we need more than just armor and weapons. Food and water would also be a good thing to grab." Elijah looked at Gomda and smiled, pleased with him for bringing up the idea. In the back of his mind, Eli regrets for calling him an orc, but he hopes he will get over it.

Etoa's face was stern, marked by small scars here and there from years of back-alley training and dealing with angry clients. She was dressed appropriately, donned in only the finest dress and jewelry of her people. She hadn't felt the annoying weight of thin, golden chains around her wings and beak in quite sometime, but she did remember how bothersome they got. The flowy and light dress she wore was not much of a dress; More or less, some fabric here and there. It was custom for nobility to show as many feathers as possible, as that was what determined their status and beauty, after all. Etoa let out a sigh, watching as the Councilmen filed out of the rooms, listening to the subtle sounds of their robes swishing with their steps.

Her focus was broken by a voice, a small and cheerful one. Etoa looked over, and then down to the human, who was already seemingly taking control of things. "There's no rush." She said, her somewhat powerful voice was enhanced by it's own echo. She shook her feathers lightly, the soft clinking of the jewels and metal a comforting sound. "Let's, at the very least, introduce ourselves before we're thrown down there." Etoa gave a small smile, her eyes moving away from the woman to the other people in the room. "I'm Etoa. If you find my name too.. difficult to pronounce, you may call me Eta." She gave a small bow, an introduction of sorts, before rising and letting her smile drop slightly.

"Now if we all introduce ourselves, i'm sure there will be less tension when we get into unsavory situations." Etoa spoke in a matter-of-fact tone. She knew all too well that charging in head-first with people she didn't know would be the death of her; And this time, quite literally.

"Alright then, I'm Quentyn. I was a blacksmith back home. There really isn't much else to tell."

Quentyn found the bird folk a fascinating race and was looking forward to further conversation with the representative. He took stock of her and filled away some questions for later. He thought that they could be good companions.

"I suppose I'll pass the torch, who wants to go next?"

Gomda had forgotten that introductions were a formality he should probably adhere to, although he was happy not to have to go first. "My names Gomda, Gomda Redmane. I'm a farmer by trade, I grow plants." He realized once he had finished speaking how ordinary and unexceptional he sounded, what a great representative of his race.

Nessa giggled softly, feeling a bit embarrassed for forgetting about introducing herself; she was quite used to people knowing her by name in all the cities she had worked in. "Ah, apologies.. My name is Nessa Kriley. I'm a medic or doctor, as some also like to name me. I'm very glad to be allowed to work with you." She granted them a little bow, her flowing dress adjusting to the movement, the light purple chiffon fabric shining in the light and her various ornaments and accessories reflecting it.

Quentyn nodded and looked at the two of them. He smiled at the smaller female, trying to seem friendly. "It's a pleasure to work with you. Gomda, Nessa."
