"Yeah, I'm down for it," Patrick replied as he dug in to his meal. Fresh air would do him some good and hopefully clear his head. Though the thought of going back out gave him enough anxiety to last a lifetime, but if he didn't go out now then when would he ever? He glanced up at Reznik as he greeted Calli, then looked at Addison. She was already nearly done with her plate. A chuckle escaped his lips as he continued to eat.

"It's a good place," Addy replied to Cassi's question. "It's open and everyone gets their own spot. It feels like its been too damn long since I've had a place with just Pat and me." She finished the plate and pushed it off to the side, now satisfied with her meal. Of course she was still hungry, but they didn't have nearly enough supplies to last seconds. None that she would want to waste, anyways. Calli and Reznik both left to tell Tyler that they all would be going on a run to which Patrick replied with a nod.

"Okay," Patrick replied, "tell him I said hi!" Though he didn't know the people from the other group very well, Patrick made a strong attempt to get to know them. Especially the leaders. Knowing Addison's old habits would die hard, he figured it would be best to have someone trustworthy vouch for her. That, and he was genuinely eager to befriend new people. Once the couple had left, Patrick turned back to face the others still there and ate several more mouthfuls of his breakfast. "How about you, Cass? Feeling alright?"

===

Sabine gave Malcolm a gentle hug back and stood back up. Her grasp around the strap of the bag slackened some in relief that Tyler wasn't upset with her for not checking in with Malcolm. Not that she thought he would be upset anyways, but she found herself not wanting to disappoint her fellow leader, and especially not his kid. Finding herself lost in thought, Sabine realized that they held each other's gaze for what was surely a noticeable amount of time. She cleared her throat and struggled for a moment to tuck some of her bouncing hair behind her ear.

"Yeah, yeah. I got caught up in trying to think about what we needed for the infirmary and...who we need to keep an eye on." Sabine paused again. All of the people dying in the infirmary was a topic that she was not fond of, but was forced to face in every way. She couldn't escape it. "Anyways...uh, wanna go get Cat? It's better to have two people to face her than one." A nervous chuckle slipped its way out as she gestured towards the door.

===

Deciding to grab a plate first, Khalid changed his initial path and headed for the cafeteria. It didn't take long for him to grab a tray and some food, but a sight that he would always find joy in was seeing Ms. Zara standing there with a scowl on her face. With a smile, the boy approached her and gave her shoulder a soft squeeze in greeting. "Ms. Z, what's going on with you today? You don't look too happy. Anything I can fix?"

Lydia appeared to focus on the task at hand, but in the corner of her eye, she couldn't help but glance his way. From what she saw and heard, he seemed nervous, which was very odd for the usually loud and proud man. Actually, when she thought about it, he had been quite distant and quiet over the past few weeks, much like herself - both for obvious, self-explanatory, and related reasons. What puzzled her was his sudden attempt to talk to her. But it's not like he was literally throwing himself at her, he was just offering to help. Perhaps exchange some small talk. She could deal with that, right?

"Yeah, sure," the blonde ended up saying, in between the routine transfer of snow. "How's your hand though? I wouldn't want you to, you know, snap it again..."

Vomiting heavily into the toilet Chris let out a groan and was glad none of the others had wished to bunk with him, he was more then fine with that now. He was sick, the mark of the virus on his side showed to that. He panted as he reached down and flushed the mix of lunch and blood before stumbling to the mirror in the bathroom. He looked himself over, his beard had grown out a bit and he looked tired. "Fucking shit" he mutters turning on the sink to splash water in his face.

The last several months had seen a big change with the groups as they seemed to hit it off and merge, one of the leaders that other group had didn't seem to like it but accepted it. Since then Chris had been watched pretty much anywhere he went, he could understand it, but he hated that fact. He hadn't even got to talk to his knew friend Cassi that much. If he did get a moment at not being watched then she had been talking to Sean, the prick. Now he felt more like an outsider then he had with Tajo and now hiding this mark he wasn't going in there with those others and get worse. This would pass, he nodded looking at himself again.

Pushing off the sink and walking back into the room he grabs a jacket off the bed and walks to the door with a sigh before stepping outside. The cold air and snow met him as he walked along the walk, heading to the stairs. He gave pause as he watched people for a moment before continuing onto what he had in mind.

It did take a few minutes and had to give a few glares at people who'd see him cough, but he finally found Reznik. "Hey, buddy, long time" he says with only half a cocky smile playing at his lips. "Hey so, not that I'm not happy with the small world bullshit going on, but I'd ask you as a friend that you talk to the heads here about me not being a..." he turns and coughs loudly, "I'm fine...cold. But yeah so I'm asking that you talk to them about easing up on me. I mean I feel like all they see me as is some criminal" he nods and clasp his hand on Reznik's shoulder. For a moment his cockiness faded showing the tired man that he was.

Cat gave a sigh as she sipped at her cool mug of coffee while looking over the papers or supplies. They'd need to make a run in a few weeks. With another sigh she set the papers down and looked out the window of her room, things seemed better, even with a convicted serial killer, and the sick. She placed her hand on her face before running it back to run through her hair. She'd need to get a few people to help her, take care, of the sick.

She begins to remember the last few months and how everything had gone with this other group and pulling together everyone. It hadn't seemed like any one was the leader of this group, maybe that Ryder guy or Reznik, but she never felt to really ask. They were now, however, part of this group so now they had Sabine, Tyler, and herself to lead them.

"Speaking of leading..." she trailed off and gathered her things and a jacket before heading to the door seeing Tyler and Malcolm heading to Sabine's room. She began to quickly make her way through the snow to main area of the motel giving nods to the others in the group that had yet to gain the sickness.

Jaxon felt himself almost crack a smile when Lydia agreed to let hom help, progress. But it quickly faultered when she mentioned his hand. Of course she knew why his hand was messed up in the first place, causing hin to cringe slightly when she brought it up. Though, it could've been her way of trying to break the tension. Whichever it was, just made Jax slightly more tense, questioning how he should respond. Jaxon narrowed his eyes slightly, letting out a sigh as he grabbed the shovel. Normally he would try to make some remark, comical or harmful in either sense. No, that was the act Jax was trying so hard to get away from. "My hands fine, thanks for askin." The man replied as he stepped by, slamming the edge of the shovel into the snow, dumping it in the other spot.

Truthfully his hand wasn't exactly 'fine'. Every lift of the shovel put an uncomfortable amount of pressure on his hand and wrist, leaving him to wince/grunt everytime he lifted. The cold sure as fuck wasnt helpin. Though Jaxon didnt complain and pushed through the pain. But god did he want a fucking cigarette. A minute or two passed before he spoke again, pausing for a moment to catch a glance at the blonde. His mind raced as he thought of something to say, drawing a blank as he shoveled again. It dawned on him to bring up something they both cared about, a friend. "Have they let anyone in to see Tess yet? I havent talked to her since they put her in there." He motioned to the lobby with his head as he put the shovel into the snow.

---

"Uh, yeah." Tyler responded, clearing his throat as well. Lightly he nudged Malcom by the top of the head towards the stairs. "Go on then, lets go buddy." Tyler told Malcom. The boy responded with a nod as he walked towards the stairs. "Careful going down Mac." The man told him as he csrefully stepped down behind the boy, but in front of Sabine incase she fell. Once they were at the end of the steps, Tyler lifted malcom up onto his shoulders. The boy obliged with a giggle as he he climbed up. Happily the two of them walked across the parking lot, though Tyler turned from the infirmiry to the mess hall. As he approached he saw some of the recently joined group members. Two of them were shoveling snow, of course he didnt care to learn names. Two more stopped nearby as he passed, nodding to them as he set Malcom down. Once inside he saw Khalid, pointing to him lightly "Go hang with Khalid for s little bit okay buddy?" Malcom sighed and nodded his head, scurrying over to Khalid and Ms. Zara. "Alright lets go." He told Sabine as he exited the mess hall.

As Malcom approached, his eyes fixated on Ms. Zara. He adorded the elderly lady and vice versa. She was always so nice to him compared to how she treated everyone else. "Hiiii Ms. Z!" Malcom spouted excitedly as he ran up to the table.

Sean reached his room and closed the door behind himself. He slowly walked into the bathroom and looked at himself in the mirror, some snow still remained on his hat and shoulders. Sean placed his cup on the sink and removed his hat brushing the snow into the sink and doing the same with his shoulders. He then removed his heavier jacket and threw it to the foot of the bed. Sean stood back in front of the mirror and checked his beard. "Hmm, it could use a little trim." Sean then poured what was left of his warm water into his hands to splash on his face. The cold was hard to combat these days.

After entering the little store, Trent strolled through the aisle closest to him. He thought he had seen something, but after stopping to see what it was, the only thing he saw was a bunch of empty garbage. Empty cans, empty boxes, empty spaces... looks like this place had been mostly ransacked. But he hadn’t seen the other aisles yet. Maybe there was something left. There was still a lot of other stores around, too...

Trent was ready to round the corner to the next aisle, when he heard a voice coming from the other side of the store. It sounded like a girl, and they were asking if someone was there. Well, believe it or not, someone was there, and it was him. He was pretty surprised that someone else was here despite the fact he hadn’t seen a single person in this whole city up until this point. So surprised, in fact, that he flinched back and accidentally knocked a box off a shelf behind him. Not wanting to say anything just yet, Trent took a few second seconds to try and equip himself with the shovel that was hazhazardly sticking out of his backpack. Yes, a shovel. He ended up losing the only firearm he had while taking the dangerous trek into this city. At least it’d be better than nothing if whoever this was tried to jump him.

Readying his weapon as if he was about to swing a bat, Trent slowly approached where he heard the voice coming from. At this point, whatever survival instincts he had decided to go completely out of gear, and decided it would be a good idea to respond to them as he was approaching. “Erm... Yeah. I’m here,” the man ended up saying, readjusting his baseball cap just in case things went bad. Soon after that, he made it to the spot of the store where he thought he had heard the voice. And it didn’t take too long for him to spot part of someone’s head sticking out from the top of an aisle he was only a few moments from reaching the opening to. Trent thought it would be a good idea to at least hear what this person’s intention were, so he ended up continuing the conversation. “Are you... Are you friendly?” His voice sounded a bit too worried for his liking.

Reznik listened closely to her explaination. By the time he had finished he stopped walking and stood there in silence. It had felt like someone had dropped a ten ton anchor on top of him. Different emotions has fought for supremacy and control. On one hand, he understood her point, her position. Then there was the selfish side, the side that wanted to fight the inevitable. He was transported back to the earlier time in life, where someone he loved was fighting for their life.

When he thought he might finally have some degree of control over what he was feeling, he felt the clap on his back, and that all too familiar voice. His fists has instinctively clenched tightly together to the point his tan knuckles turned ghost white. He felt his control beginning to slip, and before he lost it, he simply stepped away. He knew he needed to work it out with Calli, to be there for her. First, he needed to get himself under control. “We’ll talk later Calli.”

With that said, he walked off without another word.

————

Ryder sighed and stood up, stretching himself out. Truth be told, he was ready for sleep. He had been pushing himself way to hard, and because of that, he knew he was getting sick. Looking at Misty he grabbed his gear and followed her out back into the cold.

“Alright I’ll try my best to tone it down.” He smiled at her. She was the main one he could count on and rely on. He knew that she’d be there to help him no matter what, but he was bound and determined to make life easier for her, despite all of her objections.

—————

Johnny just smiled at the girl before finishing his meal and standing. Reaching back he stretched himself out before relaxing again. “Well my lunch is over. Keep pondering on that question. I’ll let you know when training will start shortly ok?” He gave her a sincere smile and walked back outside. The brisk cold reminded him of the world they lived in now. Sticking his hands in his pockets, he started making his way back to his hunk.

After her little scan if the room Evangeline slowly returned to eating not paying attention at first. Her mind was adrift in the sea of inner thought. Only when the man with her spoke did she noticed that he was up an about to leave. She offered a nod and warm smile before resuming what was left of her meal. Her pace had slowed dramatically so she'd have more time to think within the warm and crowded space. It was places likes this she'd be at her safest. That or with Ryder and Misty. She had confidence that no one would touch her with them around. A small smile graced her lips as she thought about those two again. Even with her slower pace she eventually finished her meal, sitting in her chair silently. Her mind went back to the question and what it could mean as she sat there.

Jack was away from the motel, he took it upon himself to go on a supply run, he knew he had left a few things at home but he hadn't been back since today, worried what the inside might look like. He finally, after a month and a half of preparations built up the courage to return home and get the rest of his gear, most of which was his personal stuff, but he did have room in his duffle to put the box of MREs of he did indeed find them. His heart began to race as he neared the house, the old roads familiar, even covered in snow, the sound of the crunching snow drowned out by his own heart beat in his ears. He walked slowly and carefully, watching the snow for any fresh footprints that weren't his own, seeing none he continued to inch forward, his house coming in to sight, the group of mutants that once loitered around the premises long since gone. Something did catch his eye however as he drew near to the old fading home, their was a sign of a struggle on the walls, right by the front door, the frame coated in the black viscous liquid that he knew all too well. His heart raced as he tried the door, it was unlocked, not the way he left it, the only other person knowing about the key being his sister, his mind raced as he carefully stepped inside, the smell enough bad enough to stop a truck, his boot sticking to the ground slightly, making a sound similar to velcro being ripped apart as he stepped forward. The living room a mess, a thin layer of dust covered many of the items that lay strewn across the floor, the struggle hadn't happened recently.

Jack walked deeper in to the house, his boots continuing to step in the liquid, his mind continuing to race as he tripped over something, falling to the ground with a loud thud he turned on his flashlight and saw two eyes looking back at him, completely dead. The top of the creatures head obliterated, with something hanging from its mouth, a piece of fabric that now is stained red for eternity, then came the noise from the basement, almost like a sack of potatoes hit the floor, something had heard him and something was hungry. Before he even thought about going to the basement he checked the rest of the one story home, finding nothing but mess and more of the black sticky liquid. He gathered all of the strength he could muster and took a deep breath before making his way to the top of the stairs and standing in front of the door, he gave it a few taps and stood there silently for a moment, hearing a loud thumpinthumping sound he knew something was coming up the stairs. He sat there listening to the creature behind the door slam its fists in to the reinforced wood door, his body shook with each fist, the happiness and hope slowly draining from his body, chills running down his spine, for a moment he went pale. His heart sank more and more as the seconds seemed to last for hours, he knew what was behind the door, and he knew he had to face his demons eventually, he couldn't continue to let her suffer. He walked up to the door that opened outward and took a deep breath, moving the dead body out of the way he stepped to the side, preparing himself for what was to come. He swung the door open and what he saw burned itself in to his memory, there she was, his twin sister, what was his twin sister stood there, she was now just one of those creatures, her body twitched for a moment, enough time for him to get a good look at her, her legs and arms horribly scraped, the black liquid dripping down her body, her shirt attached by the liquid and nothing else, as a massive chunk was taken put of her left shoulder, the jagged lines showing it was one of the creatures that tore in to her, her hair still mostly intact, her face looked almost human still except for the soulless eyes that turned to look at him.

Jack let the creature jump at him and knocked it to the ground, the thing that was once his sister tumbled as he did, his body shaking with anger, confusion, sorrow, and so many other emotions. He gripped his sledge hammer tight, bringing it up above his head, he brought it on to her back, the sickening snap made him gag, his body filled with rage as he blamed himself for not being there for her, he brought the hammer back again, the creature crawling to him slowly. The creature looked up at him, meeting his eyes as he was about to swing his hammer down, almost as if begging for him not to end it, it was too late his muscles fired as he slammed the hammer down, connecting with her skull, a sickening crunch and splat echoed in the room as the life drained from the creature, he brought the hammer up again and again, repeating the process a few more times while a low yell escaped his mouth, almost as if he were whispering, all that was left of his sister was the picture in his wallet which he kept with him at all times and the puddle of skill andn brain mush that coated his boots, tears streamed down his face as he fell to his knees, his body wanting to give up, but it wouldn't, his body never let him and he didn't know why, his knees coated in what used to be his sisters life. He knelt there sobbing as quietly as he could to not bring any more attention, tears mixed with the black ooze beneath him.

The moment she passed the shovel over to Jaxon, Lydia crossed her arms, sticking her gloved hands beneath her armpits. Even with the heavy-duty, water-resilient protection that covered her small hands, they still managed to stay frozen. It made sense; she hadn't been taking her iron pills for months now, which meant she was stuck with cold extremities. Which the winter season only exaggerated.

Her slightly bent figure stepped out of the way, allowing Jaxon to finish the job. For a brief moment, she just stood there, waiting for his answer. Meanwhile, her gaze wandered between his working figure, and then literally anything else. Like Calli, for instance. Or the back of Reznik's tall silhouette. Then back to Jaxon, who couldn't hide the pain he was in. She was tempted to roll her eyes at first, but that soon changed to slight (very slight) concern. Not that she would ever admit that.

Besides, men and their ego's. He probably would've shrugged it off and pretended he was fine. So Lydia bit back the remark, instead choosing to answer his question. "No. They've got the place on lockdown." Her brows crinkled together in more concern, this time directed towards Tessa. "I guess I can see why... people keep dying. But Dr. C looks fine and he basically lives in there. So I dunno, I just hope she's fine."

----------

Ms. Zara was apparently quite easy to read, a fact that actually bothered the old woman. She was the reader, the mystic, the one who made predictions, and occasionally messed with people. But here she was, unable to keep her emotions under control, to the point of being an open book to an inexperienced twenty-something year old.

Fortunately for him, she liked Khalid. Very much so. He had a good head on his shoulders, and he held his own, creating some pretty good banter between the two of them. So instead of biting his head off, Ms. Zara's expression changed to something as sweet as sugar. "Oh no Khalid... unless you know a single woman who likes smart, but unlucky men."

She began to lift a forkful of Arthur's food up to her lips, only to he interrupted again by another little boy. A littler little boy. Malcolm. Her other favourite.

"Mac! Come, sit. Khalid and I need your advice," she said, patting the open spot beside her.
