The Junk Guild Chronicles

Post by Archer_Algren » Sat Nov 11, 2017 3:02 am

In the depths of space, within the Zaftran system, was a weapon.
GENESIS.
A large microwave weapon that was intended to be used in a war now long over, most militaries would scramble to get their hands on such a weapon, but instead, a different organization laid claim to it, the Junk Guild.
These group of men and women dedicate their lives to repairing technology and helping their fellow man, which raises the question as why they are trying to get a weapon of mass destruction online.
Well for one, if tweaked correctly, the GENESIS can be used as a propulsion system rather than a weapon, and with a weapon that large, the Guild wanted it to use as a home base.
Reika Saionji was one of the Senior Guild members and was spending her time fixing up the MWF-JG71 Raysta Mobile Suits, those large 19 meter tall robots were their primary workforce and source of defense, they have been in the past few weeks harassed by military forces and other rogue groups who wanted the GENESIS, so they equipped some of their Raysta’s with Weapons, just simple shields and Beam rifles, although some of the other Junkers had Bazooka’s on theirs, thankfully nobody has been killed, most of the hostiles elements simply back away upon seeing armed Mobile Suits.
As Reika continued to work on them, her assistant, a pale skinned mechanoid, came running towards her.
“Ma’am... You’re needed at... The orientation room.”
She said trying to catch her breath, the downsides to having an organic but silicon based body was the same weakness as normal bodies.
“I’ll be there Zig.”
She said as she put down her welding tool.
“They probably need me to take some new recruits under my wing.”
She said to herself, she was known though for being even-tempered with new recruits.

Nearby, Jamie MacGregor sat with her back against one of the deactivated mobile suits. In her hands was a small mechanical figure twitching and wiggling tiny legs as it's creator poked at it with a small tool and some small sparks flew out of its equivalent of a belly. It only somewhat resembled a very tiny dog, if that. Jamie bit her bottom lip in concentration as the legs waved around faster and faster. "Hold still," she muttered in a thick Scottish accent. "I've only got to tweak a little bit, hold it!" With a final shudder, the small droid lay still and dead as roadkill in her hands. With the flick of a switch it sprung to life, bouncing up and trotting out of her hands and to the ground.
As Jamie smiled to herself, observing another small creation of hers as a success, she noticed Reika passing by. She raised her oil-soaked hand in greeting to the senior member with a polite nod and smile. "Oi," she called out. "Where are you scurrying off to now?" Jamie got to her feet as the little bot scampered playfully around her ankles, whirring and beeping as it went. The right strap of her filthy blue overalls slid off her shoulder. She wore a white T-shirt underneath and black combat boots to top it all off. Her red-brown hair was pulled into an insanely messy ponytail, and her green eyes were bright with curioisity.

Arrival

Fin stood in the transport shuttle, it had been several weeks since he boarded the tin can. A long yawn escaped his gaping maw smacking his mouth several times.
ANNOUNCEMENT: ARRIVAL AT GENESIS. WELCOME RECRUITS, WELCOME HOME
Fin lit a match and brought it to a cigarette he held at his mouth. His eyes surveying the massive structure.
'Sir Fin; environmental details show signs of combat damage. Proceed with caution.' O.G.R.Es warning was well ignored. Fin had finally joined The Junk Guild. He didn't mind combat. But mostly, he just wanted to help others. That's all that mattered. He'd heard rumors of Giant Mechanized soldiers, maybe he'd be able to pilot one at some point. That wasn't the point of today. Today was officially his first day. Heading towards his bunkbed and rummaging his belongings he kept in a storage locker partitioned under his bed, he slung the half-full pack over his shoulders, shrugged at his now abandoned place he spent much of his time staring into the sea of stars and gasping at the many more wonders he'll experience.
Pressing his palm, the door closed and he awaited leaving the Transport.

The landing was a little rough, but nothing he couldn't handle, some folk fell on their behinds, some spouts of laughter. Fin just held onto a holding bar placed conveniently near him, thankfully to avoid some level of embarrassment. A member of the Junk Guild began to make orders as people flooded out of the ship.
"New Recruits are asked to go to the orientation room! Follow the directions given to you, you should be able to make it there on your own!" Fin rummaged through his PDA and went through the files that contained the directions, read them and O.G.R.E took care of the rest. OGRE Provided a visual detail on the most efficient way to go to the room and so with some brisk excitement and a stupid smile on his face he began a well paced walk to the orientation.

Opening the door, Fin looked for a spot to sit and realizing his cigarette was mostly burnt out he tapped the ashes into a handkerchief he had in his pocket and placed the soiled rag back into his pocket. Relaxing during his wait he released another yawn breaking the silence and asked them. "Nice weather today."

“Just headed to the orientation room, care to join?”
Said Reika as she headed on down to the orientation room.
As Reika entered the orientation room followed closely by zig, she saw gave a quick glance at the new recruits before getting the go-ahead from another Senior Guild member to go ahead.
“Well, good day to you all, and welcome to the GENESIS, you may have noticed the security outside but don’t be alarmed, its just to deal with assorted hostiles but rest assured, nobody has been killed on either side.”
She then looked again to the senior member who just nodded.
“Now I know you’re all just fresh out of indoctrination and basic training, but don’t feel so overwhelmed, it has come to my attention that you will all be under my supervision, which means I’ll be showing you how to perform maintenance on the Mobile Suits and Mobile Workers stationed here.”
She said.
“Now before you ask, I’m only a trained Enginseer who maintains machinery, so I won’t be teaching anybody how to pilot anything, all I know how to operate are the Mobile Workers and those things can be pretty cramped which rules out tandem riding.”
She added.
“Now then, if you have any questions, now is the time to ask.”
She finished, hoping nobody ask her anything too personal.

Salmon being one of the new recruits had ever increasing interest in the Junk Guild. The iconic mechs appealed to him, maybe one day he will take a little test drive. His goal however was the defence of others. His electrical skills are minimum compared to others. He wasn’t taught to build or repair. Just to fight. Thankfully his implants allow him to learn quickly. Either way he had felt he had always been a fighter. His life had been around combat and in the most growsome parts of it.

Landing was rather laughable. People don’t no how to stand. It’s a pity really.
He walked off and had been directed to the ‘orientation’ room. He found a seat on the edge. A former member of the guild spoke up introducing them to the guild.

Salmon asked a question that he would imagine that most would be wondereing. “How frequent are the attacks?”
With great power comes great electricity bills.

“Not so frequent, its mostly raiders although the odd Neo-SICON warships have tried to talk us into handing over GENESIS, We just tell them to leave and they comply, the Guild can blacklist any group, organization or nation from our services and that is our greatest trump card, nobody would want to be blacklisted from guild services so they usually comply, those that don’t are blacklisted, but if they insist despite the blacklist, we have a partnership with Line Ark, the mercenary hub, they’ll send us mercenaries for protection and in exchange, we share some of our choice salvage with them.”
Answered Reika.

(Sorry it took so long to post this.)

Jamie nodded and bent down to pick up her little robot. "Either stay in my pocket or stay out of trouble, y' hear?" The little creature whirred as it crawled into her pocket, wiggling around some before finally settling down. Jamie put some of her tools away and jogged to Reika to keep up with her. She caught up just in time to hear the first question. A small smirk formed on her lips at the sight of the new recruits. Cute little recruits...I love 'em. Jamie crossed her arms and leaned against the wall as Reika gave her answer. "The attacks aren't that bad with the mercenaries here," Jamie interjected when Reika was done. "Some of the mercenaries are actually quite nice."
