Jazz is an intellectually enlightening form of music for certain, far superior to any of the magnanimous refuse modern artists always seem to spew. However, I am personally more partial to classical compositions from the Baroque period.
I seek Truth above all means.

I like the fact it is improvised. Rarely do jazz musicians have a scripted method of play. I mean they have a general idea in their head... obviously. But the "song" is always different everytime it's played. This emphasizes their talent with an instrument over their ability to memorize lines and beats that can be marketed well and repeated for mass consumption. Jazz was never meant to be a consumable product for the masses. Originally jazz was the music taste of mobsters and slum dwellers in poor parts of town where casinos and burlesque houses ran rampant. It was a legit way for someone to make money and you know... not be involved in crime. And while now bars and gambling institutions aren't seedy fronts for gangs, (as much anyway...) very much jazz is still just a guy who is a total badass with a trumpet or saxophone and deserves a bit of praise and a dollar or two in charitable donations. And that's what music is supposed to be. The appreciation of the art form, not the next video game.
