Children should not be separated from their parents for it. That's a terrible disincentive from both a moral and economic perspective; why burden the social services system with immigrant children when we already have a terrifyingly mismanaged state ward system? It would cost more money, fuck up the system more, AND it's morally reprehensible.

Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end

I mean, if they're irresponsible enough to illegally cross with their children, it says a lot about them.
Yeah, they should have left their children behind in the often dangerous, desparate situation they were trying to escape.
This is what my father is doing right now, leaving my and my mother behind in the dangerous, desperate situation from which we're trying to escape. It's the best choice for all of us.

One parent can stay with the kid/s while the other works and sends them money until s/he's stable enough to bring the rest of the family.

Don't just pretend the world outside of the US is a Mad Max chapter, the "desperate situation" can be withstood legally if only they had the intelligence.

How long did it take for your father to be granted permission to immigrate? I know it's not a very quick and easy process. Did he get a work Visa? And btw, what country do you live in?

Why split a family in the first place? kick them all out.

I'm sorry; I didn't realize you were 8 months old, and that your mother was a non-entity. That makes this a perfect analogy.

Because, y'know, if you aren't, and she isn't, then it doesn't work as one.

Couple months to get the passport alone. I dunno about the Visa, maybe not. Venezuela.

A single mother can still take care of her child, people usually have families and friends in the real world. And if they've been surviving for so long in that country, they can hold out a year more, things aren't the way you think they are on the other side of the wall.

I don't see it being blamed on Democrats, though;

Correction; I don't see it being blamed on the Democrats by anyone of sound mind.
