A Somewhat Complete History of the RPF

Post by DaTurtle » Mon Oct 15, 2018 9:57 pm

I've been wanting to write down the rpfs history for a while. However while I rember a lot from the time I first joined some tidbits might have slipped by or my memory has failed me in someway.

The objective of this thread is to catalogue previous events of this site, from it's conception as a discussions forum to the great crashes and maybe where it's heading. I may even touch on some notable users along the way like previous mods, influential users and devs.

If you have any information that could help please share them on this thread, anything helps especially if you have screenshots of old interfaces or even just interesting stories.

I can help with this. I'm a bit of an unofficial historian, have spent a lot of time building a working understanding of the site's history, especially following the split from Discussions.
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end

RPF was born with a bang. That is, of course, because it had just shot one of the nurses.

I hope this joke doesn't wear out too quickly

Neku: "Uhh... what?"
Joshua: "I think he's saying he's better than gravity."

Wint was joking

but RPF was really born with a bang.

it started off as a few posts on a much better forum called discussions. It later became a full section where it was flooded with people we once called 'Cartoon Clan' because they were all furries worried about 'relationships'. The cartoon clan eventually lead to a server overload

and then that overload lead to the first nuke (wipe). B and Pav had the split RPF from discussions into two separate apps.
