Vampire Love--spacesgoats

Post by PoeticSatyr » Tue Jul 10, 2018 11:13 pm

The castle seemed to hold its breath. The infamous slayer was inside the castle's walls. The beast who had relentlessly killed all vampires in their path, innocent or evil, was inside these very walls. Descriptions of the gruesome massacres have caused mass hysteria amongst Valewyn’s subjects, and made shockwaves across the kingdom and to the members of the High Court. Whoever this person, this monster, is would pay the price for their crimes today.

“Your Highness, it would be in your best interest if you pick up your pace. The other council members have already taken their seats. If you arrive after your father is seated-"

“Bartholomew,” Prince Mitchell interrupted, “the trial starts at midnight. Nothing significant will happen that requires my presence beforehand.”

Bartholomew, the prince’s stout and balding equerry, sighed but otherwise said nothing. He checked his bronze pocket watch and nervously watched as the hands moved to 11:54. If they arrived after the king, there would be serious consequences for Mitchell.

Finally, the prince entered the throne room. Eyes briefly turned to him and the guards saluted. As Mitchell ascended the many stone stairs that led to the thrones, he surveyed the room. The great reticulated windows, which reached as tall as the 80 foot tall ceiling, had their drapes drawn, bathing the room with moonlight. The countryside and gardens could be seen, as well as small vampire villages--blips in the distance. Three blood-red banners with the golden insignia of the kingdom were placed behind the thrones, and also on the balcony itself. Benches were placed at the bottom of the thrones, and a single podium in front of those. The courtiers were already seated and murmuring amongst themselves. The rest of the room was lined with guards, and candles to further illuminate the room.

Mitchell stood by his throne, waiting for his father's entrance. He's read all the reports of this vampire hunter. And those have been few, since there aren't any living witnesses. Despite not having much to go off of, there have been countless stories that have reached the court's ears. All of them chilling. And now he was to face the monster who committed those crimes. The energy he felt at that moment was unfamiliar. Was it curiosity? Nervousness? Anger? A mixture of all three? Something stirred inside him that he couldn't place. Something big was going to happen. He reeled in this aura, however, remembering his public image. He set his face to a stony expression and straightened his stance, placing his hands behind his back. His eyes mimicked an expression of disinterest and slight annoyance. An expression his father often wore.

Just then, his father entered. The courtiers stopped whispering and the guards stood up straighter. If the room didn't feel stiff before, it did now. The king, Valdemar Vasiliev, ruled the kingdom of vampires with an iron fist. He had zero tolerance for anything or anyone against him, and his punishments were brutish. It wouldn't be inaccurate to say that he was feared more than he was respected.

The herald then began the announcements, starting with the king and ending with the lowest ranking courtier. After she had sat down, the trial was ready to begin.

Everyone waited with bated breath for the King to start. Even Mitchell found tension creeping into his muscles, but he didn't dare steal a glance at his father. He continued to look aloof even though his black heart was hammering. Finally, the king raised two, decorated fingers.

“Let them in.”

The sun was beginning to set and light trickled in through the blinds of the window, landing on the sleeping form of a fragile, small girl, letting her clothes body and her pink lit hair glow. As it hit her face, Azalea stirred in her slumber, slowly beginning to awaken from her state of dreaming. Eight women, her sisters, appeared in her head. In beautiful dresses with their light pink hiar and crystal blue eyes, they were dancing around with a throng of weathly suitors at their heels. A man, her father, and all his glory stood on the balcony, watching his daughters mingle with great sadisfaction, selecting which of the infatuated young men was the richest and therefore most worthy of her hand. His own hand held that of her mother's. She knew it was more common curtisy than a display of affection. Surely he cared for her as she was, in all her radiant splendor, the most beautiful lady in the kingdom and therefor a valuable asset. But where was she in all this excitement? Watching the dream replay through the window from her own balcony, having feigned illness that fateful night. The images began to fade as she slowly woke up, and Azalea wondered what would have happened had she attended the party. Would her father have found her a suitor? Would that vampire had come into her room while she slept? Would the Slayer have still been able to save her? Though these questions would change nothing, she still liked to wonder. The elegance of her home could never compare to Slayer life and the freedom it gave her. She'd felt beautiful always surrounded by admirers but it'd never done anything to fill the gapping void within her heart. But now she could live by the simple name of Aza and by her own simple, few rules with absolutely no requirement to be perfect. All she had to do now be happy with herself. The dreams were now vanishing as Aza awoke from her slumber, familiar thoughts of beautiful dresses, poisonous flowers and hunting knives fresh on her mind. However this quickly changed as she opened her eyes and found herself in an unfamiliar room. Aza sat up with a small gasp, taking in her surroundings. Now, Aza was used to constant travel and waking up to new scenery every morning, but usually she'd been able to recall how she'd gotten there. In this case, however, there were no memories. No walking, no inn keeper, and especially no expensive room. Aza touched her head as she slipped out of bed and found a painful knot near her temple, wincing in response as her head became to throb dully. Had she hit her head? No, not hat she could recall. And how had she gotten here of all places? Where was here? Suddenly it came to her: she'd been ambushed by vampires! She'd hardly gotten enough time to realize it before they'd knocked her out cold.

Aza's hand flew to her hip where she found her bag of herbs and her rose knife tucked safely. Why had the vampires attacked her? Why hadn't they killed her? Why bring her to this house? And how could she escape? This were the questions running through Aza's mind as she opened the window, greeting by the slowly setting evening sun. She winced as her head throbbed again, then chewed a few dried leaves from the herb bag to relieve herself of the pain. Then she turned and walked to the door, placing her hand on the knob and twisting. But before she could open the door to let herself out the door flung open itself, dragging her as she still had her hand in the door, having her in the arms of the Vampires who ambushed her. Or so she thought. seeing as they were the only Vampires that were there, seeming to wait till she opened the door. As if this was all a trap, like before she was here... Was the ambush a trap? Before she could even think a single thought she was quickly put in chains behind her back stripped of all her weapons that could be dangerous to them. Which made her think, 'If only i woke up earlier...' She groaned as she was pushed forward in front of them and towards somewhere. Hell like she would know and would like to know, but it seemed important if they didn't kill her yet and especially, from the big, huge and tall building that was before her. She was stopped at the big and dramatic doors, as if they were waiting for her to walk in... Why? Where was she? Why wasn't she killed? She quickly went to turn at the Vampires with a glare and went to yell before the doors open and she was pushed again, making her trip, on the floor, on her knees in front a line of Vampires, and the doors were closed and blocked from the Vampires that held her. Then it came to her... "I'm on... Trial?" She asked as she stared at them. "Do you know who I am?!" She yelled
