G.A.T.E.S Academy [RP]

Post by databaseoverload » Tue Mar 27, 2018 8:32 pm

Keith watched from his window as new students were unloaded from the bus. They had bared his window incase he broke it... again. He couldn’t see much around the bars, but he hoped this meant a new roommate, his old one “graduated” he knew that probably meant putting them in an actual prison. It wasn’t like they were going to let anyone out. Most people did get courtyard time though, but he was too much of a flight risk.

Marie wasn’t exactly excited to be here. She wanted to be, but what if some of these kids were dangerous? She stepped off the bus with the hope that it would still be safe here. They were certainly being treated like they were dangerous. She knew she wasn’t though. She was normal. Besides the fact that she can erase time, but that wasn’t dangerous.

Finn immediately knew this place wouldn’t be friendly to his lifestyle. High fences and police weren’t his favorite things. He was already making an escape plan, just to get out for a night or two. It would break his mother’s heart if she knew he left.

Angelica didn’t care that new students were coming. They didn’t matter. She stayed fast asleep in bed. A girl needs her beauty sleep.

Guards motioned all of the new students in, careful to watch for any runners. They only had one in the history of the school. Most don’t try to escape until they realize what this place really is.

Ezekiel had been put in another "facility" before he had come to G.A.T.E.S academy. That one had been science based, as they wanted to study him and figure out how they could use his powers of regeneration to make things like medicine, and other scientific advancements. They had no luck however, as they couldn't force the fire wielder to participate in their tests, and their drugs and sedatives had no effect on him, as his powers burned them out of his system before they could work on him.

His amber eyes slowly moved up the building as he tilted his head back, until his eyes locked with Keith's through the bars. He held the gaze for a few moments, having felt someone's eyes on him, before one of the guards placed a hand on his back and pushed him forward. The guards all wore specialized gear, all designed to handle heat and fire, as they had been warned about the phoenix boy before he had even been reassigned officially.

Ezekiel turned to stare at the guard, who hesitated, a tremble visibly running through him, before the young man turned back and began walking into the Academy. He didn't do anything that was noticeable to the guard, but the look in those amber eyes of his was chilling beyond words, and the guard had recoiled instinctively upon seeing the promise of death in them. It didn't matter though, as Ezekiel vanished through the doors of the Academy, following the other "students."

Meanwhile, deep within the Academy, there was a girl who was chained up and nearly entirely covered by bindings. Red hair was visible, as was one golden eye, and in that eye was deep, unbridled hatred for anyone who was unfortunate enough to have it land upon them. A guard approached a control panel, and he inserted a key, before he twisted it, causing the chains to fall loose, and the metal bindings to be pulled away from the girl who stepped forward.

The guards were behind thick, extremely tough plastic, the entire chamber they were in totally insulated. They spoke through a speaker, the voice tinny and nervous, "Alright Jocelyn. your time in solitary confinement is over now. You can leave now, but if you attack another guard, we're going to have to sedate you again, and put you back in there. You don't want that, do you?"

A single raised finger was the girl's response as she walked out of the room, heading into the hallway, stretching her now free arms and legs, trying to get the blood flowing in the limbs once more. She was used to her "special room" as some of the guards called it. Over her years in the academy, she had attacked close to forty guards, and had been sent to the room dozens of times. She had spent months in that room, if all of the time was combined. She hated it in there, but it was worth it to fuck up some of the guards. It helped remind them and remind the other students to not fuck with her, unless they wanted to pay the price.

Nia was not a terribly well known individual. If you were to ask any of her classmates or teachers about her, they would likely not know who you were talking about. Besides, they usually had bigger things on their mind than the grayscale girl who read in the back of class. She had to admit, not being noticed -even without her powers active- had its perks. Nobody felt the need to put a guard on her, which meant she could peacefully sit under a tree on the green, reading without distraction.

That is, until the bus arrived. Across the courtyard, the gates slowly opened with their usual hum of machinery. Her gaze slowly rose from the pages in her lap, a finger keeping her place. There was an unusually high number of guards this year... maybe there was an especially gifted new "student" among the group of newbies. Nia herself had been at the Academy for 6 years, and was arguably one of the longest term students the facility had ever kept. Not that the staff usually remembered. That reminded her... She'd been without a roommate for some time now. Perhaps the new arrivals meant that would change. Continuing to watch as the fresh "students" were marched into the school from her spot in the shade, Nia contemplated whether she should make something as a welcome gift if she did get a dorm mate. She knew she wasn't good with words, so letting food speak for her usually worked better than if she attempted the interaction with words.

Rolling her shoulders, she went back to her book. She'd been here long enough to know the patterns, so wasn't overly concerned with the events taking place. Not much she could do for the moment anyway, so why let it distract her... though, it was around time for her to feet Abbot Humble, so she'd have to get moving soon enough.

Jay slinked down the hall, the smell of escape seeping into her senses. She turned the corner to see a few guards laughing at some video. She hugged the wall, praying that they'd need to turn around for something and, of course, the gods above ignored her prayers, and a few minutes later she was dragged into her room.

This was a rare occurrence for her to get as far as down the hall, but she'd managed it twice now.

She sat by the window, watching a busload of newbies spill out onto the sidewalk, seeing twice as many guards as usual. She squinted, trying to count them and then quit after 15, not caring anymore.

Elle woke up to the sound of a bus coming to a stop, she got up somewhat sluggishly and looked out her window and saw an unusually high amount of children coming out of it, most didn’t really catch her eye, some possibly being interesting, then she saw someone beaten and slightly bloodied coming off the bus and she gasped loudly and ran out the room, slamming the door behind her and not caring if any of the guards tried to stop her. “Oh no, what’s she doing here?” Elle thought to herself trying to get to the front as fast as possible and not getting lost in this so-called school.

Angie stepped off of the bus, beaten and bloodied not because of G.A.T.E but simply from being in a fight before being picked up by them. Angie gave a growl and a stink eye to most of the guards not in any threating way just more of a "don't screw with me" as she spat out some blood that started trickling into her mouth. She looked at the other new students trying to see if there was anyone she might like.

The bus shuddered its way down the streets, every pothole feeling like the beginning of the apocalypse. A quiet girl counted the rhythm between the potholes in her head, wondering if they were closer to common time or more of a 4/8. Neither seemed to be the case, and the conductor couldn't keep tempo for anything. Her hands were cuffed to the crossbar of the seat in front of her, probably because it made people feel better, not because the handcuffs were going to do any good.

She supposed they were keeping her from jumping off the bus. There was that. The rest of her family was gone... no one would miss her. She'd thought about it. The handcuffs glinted as a bump tilted the light in through the window, forestalling that train of thought. It was entirely possible that one of the potholes would kill her anyway. She leaned her head forward, resting her cheek in the crook of her arm, and waited. Maybe she slept, for a while. Not for long. Never for long. If she slept too long, she woke up screaming.

The ride faded in and out, and if the others on the bus talked at all, Claire was so wrapped in her own silence that she didn't hear them. She watched the light out the window, squinting as it rose high enough to be in her eyes. She hummed a note, soft and low, and the arpeggio continued in her mind, quiet and promising, and the light started to dim.

The hand caught her across the temple, and a harsh voice hissed "None of that," the eyes of the guard filled with nothing but disgust. Claire shifted away, silent again, edging away towards the window. She didn't close her eyes again. Not with the sharp pain in her head and the sick feeling in the pit of her stomach. She watched, wary, until the bus reached its destination and the muzzle of a gun pressed into her back as a second guard unlocked the handcuffs, directed her to stand up, and locked them around her wrists again. The gun prodded her to a stumble, and she moved forward with the others, stepping off the bus and into the courtyard.

With the other new arrivals, she was escorted into the school itself, and only once the doors closed were the handcuffs removed. Cautiously, she moved to rub her wrists, flinching back when the slow motion attracted attention. It was better not to attract attention. Better not to stand out. She tried not to look too much at the other students. It might make them angry.

She knew what happened when people got angry.

“Welcome.” A male voice came over the intercom rather suddenly. “I do wish I could be there to great you personally, but I’m a busy man. The guards should be handing out your personal identification cards. These are required to be on you at all times. You can use your card on one of our many lobby printers to obtain your schedule and room assignment. I hope you enjoy your school year here at G.A.T.E.S Academy.”

Ezekiel slowly tilted his head up towards the intercom, and his eyes narrowed. He pulled his head back and he spat out, but instead of the liquid saliva most would expect to come out of someone's mouth, fire came from his mouth and hit the intercom, destroying it with with extreme temperature. He then glared at the guards as they began to approach, and they hesitated before pulling back. They weren't wearing the anti-flame gear, they would be at great risk if they tried to discipline the red haired boy.

They didn't know the relation he had to Jocelyn, but he had a similar look in his eyes, and he had the same hair and eyes as the lightning wielding terror. Most of them weren't keen on seeing how similar he was to their resident terror. There would be plenty of time in the future to reign in the boy and teach him his place and how to behave. "If this is a damn school, do we get to go home for summer vacation? I think your wife might enjoy a real man going home to her." He mocked one of the guards, the one who seemed to most want to go after the redhead, purposely trying to aggravate the guard, so he could get close enough for him to whoop his ass.

Jaylyn rolled her eyes at the intercom, sliding into bed.
She pulled the covers over her head, thanking the gods above that she was alone. She probably couldn't handle a roommate like the others.

When she first arrived, she wanted someone to talk to that would be a light in the bleak world G.A.T.E.S. Academy, or at the least a partner in crime to try to break out with, but her file prevented her from having one (supposedly she was a "wild card" with "a violent past" who "couldn't be trusted with anything except the nailed down furniture and the window in her room"). But she grew out of that and now all she's tried to do was create escape plans after every 6-months. She's been there for over two years now.

Now, all she wanted to be alone and asleep. Was that too much to ask?

"Think Az think" she spoke to herself within her head. This wasn't for her, she hadn't meant to hurt anyone it was the officer's own fault. Abilities were a risk and largely unstable, she'd been trying to help people out of the burning house if he would of just not touched her or attempted to anyway he'd have been fine. Instead she materialized unaware and his wrist was scattered into a visceral display. All just got worse from there, she really did think it all his own fault however. They should of just left her alone.

She needed to find a means to escape she had thought, if she could just do the ghost thing or whatever maybe she could make a run for it. Yellow almost cat like eyes peered to the roadsides. Maybe up there where the trees and wildlife picked up, could probably work a useless shirt into rope for a bow to hunt. Maybe break handcuffs into a make shift knife. Probably couldn't help e rest of the people on this bus but then why should she? Being noble was just another way to say nicely someone was being stupid. Survival first.

The seat began to lighten up as if Azra was getting up though she obviously wasn't. Her figure briefly started to lose color in a way like photograph with opacity being turned down. The guard near by picked up his phone in response, though his instinct was to go for the gun. "What was the number to reach your aunt again Azra?" Eyes narrowed at that remark her fist tightening. Having any family was stupid, gave her something to look for other then herself. Got in her damn way.

Bus comes to a stop a colorful cast departing the vehicle or keeping an eye on it. She focused more on taking in the architecture. The height of the fences and windows some with bars and some without. Did her best to look for marks of damage or evidence of some power. Those would be a sort of hot spot she imagined for guards, something to be aware of maybe exploit try and figure out where guards were on average. Much to her annoyance she couldn't just try and run but God did she want to.

"Ever heard don't shoot the messenger? It's a speaker in this case but still."
