Naeja slowly nodded in understanding.
“We have guessed as much. Ever since Eragon had left the mountains we assumed what was going on out there can’t be good. Especially if the murmurs reach so far South. Regardless, you are here now and we will do everything in our power to protect you. I feel that the Armageddons are going to take some drastic measures to ensure that.”

“Care how you speak Naeja. Without the Armageddons, we would all be dead on multiple occasions.”
Thresh warned the female but not firmly. More just to remind that there is one in the post now.

Naeja smirked at Thresh.
“You need to loosen up. I don’t mean anything by it.”
She shifted her position and refocused her attention back to Valadir and Su’uther.
“How did you two meet. Was it by chance?”

After a little bit more of conversation, a young green drake walked into the room. He bowed and waited to be acknowledged. He wore armour with fabric over the top of the chest place indicating that he is a messenger.

“It reflected gold light when the sun hit it. I could tell it isn’t completely covered in gold though. Just the buildings that protruded out of it. It looked really rich.”

Crystal looked down to one of the corridors to have a peek. Definitely is clean.
She smirked at Wolnir’s comment.
“Yes. I could be very useful here. I feel like I will be in here a lot in the future.”
She peered into one of the rooms. It looked like your typical practitioner room . Couple seats. Medical equipment but no one is in it.

“Broke your wing. Well, that seems natural since you were learning to fly. I’ll tell you a story.”

She walked back to Wolnir, looking at his wing.

“About seven hundred years ago I had two of my tails cut off from a bunch of nomads in the desert while I was conscious. They captured me and just snipped them off. Tried to make potions out of them. Although they were completely unaware of what I was capable of. Long story short I killed them and painfully regenerated my tails. With magic of cause. Kitsunes can’t do it naturally.”

She put a hand on his shoulder.
“I thi-“

Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped. She looked at Wolnir. Dumbstruck.
“Were you ever told about the monsters invading our land?”
“War is death to the old and birth to the new.”

Valadir was going to add his opinion on the matter, but couldn't since a brief conversation amongst the drakes took place. During the brief meantime, he wondered how much the drakes knew about what happened, or how accurate their guesses were. Nontheless, he did hope they would put extra effort in his protection. After all he went through, his mind yearned to feel that true sense of security during a good while.

"I... guess you could say that..." The dragon then replied to the quartermaster's question, glancing briefly at Su'uther before continuing, "Saw him on one of the hallways doing his job. I wanted to help him, but as he deemed himself unworthy of it, i decided to stick around and give him a bit o' talk and company. Besides, he's been kind enough to show me around a bit..."

Wolnir smiled when he heard Crys' brief description of the exterior of the mountain. It sounded good. He couldn't help but to briefly wonder about how it looked on the inside. He thought that it had to look either as pretty as on the outside or better.

When he was told that breaking his wing was normal when he was learning how to fly, the dragon felt less ashamed of it. It wasn't the first time he was told so, but even then, he didn't like to talk about it. It was a painful memory that he thought he could have avoided if had been more careful.

When Crys told him the story, Wolnir thought it had been very cruel. In a way, it showed how skilled he was and he could guess why she wanted to tell it. He thought he was lucky that the humans didn't capture him. What came after, however, caught him off guard. The question made him feel uneasy and even unsafe.

"W-what monsters? A-aren't we s-safe a-anymore!?"

"Su'uther most certainly has the optimism to make friends where ever he goes. It has also gotten him into trouble on multiple occasions..."
Naeja glared at the young hunter. In response, Su'uther looked down a little ashamed.
"Discipline is something that he still needs to learn. I will give it to him, he has a gifted mind full of ideas. If only he could use it more wisely."

Eventually, he lifted his head and met his quartermaster's eyes. If he thought of challenging her, he didn't show it. His eyes did, however, show her compliment. Many thoughts run behind them.

It was Thresh who acknowledged to the messenger to stop the slightly awkward moment.
He made a gesture with his hand to indicate the messenger to come forward.
"What do you have for us."

The small bottle green sky drake stepped forward and bowed to everyone.
"King Eragon requests Valadir in the armoury for his surprise."

Thresh smiled when the messenger spoke. It is ready.
"Very good. Escort Valadir down."

The messenger bowed and waited for Valadir at the doorway.

Before Valadir left, Thresh said to him, "Unbroken, don't hug Eragon."

Crystal just started at Wolnir on moving for a solid ten seconds. She took her hand off him and bunched her tails together as if to make it look like she had one big giant tail.
"Oh no-no. We are quite safe within the mountains but... Shit, can't believe I haven't told you."

Before she could continue a messenger approached them and bowed.
Crystal snapped her neck at the messenger, feeling a bit defensive she widened her stance as if to expect an attack.
The messenger looked back up and greeted them.
"Brightscaled, Crystal. King Eragon requests your presence in the armoury."

Crystal released the breath she was holding.
"Ok thank you. Can you please take us there."

The messenger bowed again and lead them to the armoury.

Crystal continued, "I will not hold anything from you as you need to know this. It explains why dragons have been hunted so eagerly. Before I met Eragon and Valadir, I was on my investigation. Trying to figure out why dragons have been so hated and what I found is devasting and has been confirmed by others of my kind. There are these unnatural creatures from far West. We believe they are behind all the attacks. In some beings, they have placed a parasite in them that controls the individual and that parasite telepathically controls others around it. At the moment we cannot detect them but we will find a way. We have estimated this has been going on about sixty to one hundred years. They slowly wormed their way in. How they got here we don't know. I have seen a few myself but have never gotten the chance to learn anything from it.

As far as I'm concerned only dwarfs humans and elves have been affected by them and we are not if it is everyone. We don't know why they are targeting dragons. We think that you have something they are afraid of and they want to get rid of it. Maybe the drakes as well.

What is for certain is that drakes have not been affected and the mountains have not been compramised nor do we think they will. They have had at least sixty years to make a move and they haven't which adds to the idea that they are scared of something. For now, we are safe here.

I might add that some very special stuff is going to happen to Valadir."

As they walked and talked, the messenger brought them to the armoury. There they found Eragon waiting at the entrance with his arms folded and with his iconic serious face.
“War is death to the old and birth to the new.”

Valadir listened attently to the quartermaster's words, glacing at Su'uther for a moment as she spoke. It talked heaps about him. The dragon thought that with the proper amount of effort, that guy could be a really good member of the military. Or even an inventor, if he really had that creative mind.

The quadruped was thinking about how cute the young drake looked in his ashamed state when the messenger stepped forward. He announced that Valadir's surprise was ready. He got visibly excited and happy when he heard the news. He thought it was odd they referred to him by name, but he didn't ponder on it for more than one second.

"But you just gave me the idea!", he replied in a jokingly tone to Tresh's warning, even if there was a little bit of truth in his own words. Before leaving, however, he went to Su'uther and wispered him some encouragement.

"From where i come from, we consider that making friends make you stronger. And keep feeding that imagination of yours, i wouldn't be surprised if you end up creating some neat stuff. Good luck and fly high, hunter" The dragon patted him once in the back and headed to the doorway to be guided to the armory. He was still smiling. While on the way, he tried to guess what the surprise was. Maybe it was a replacement for the sword.

He had arrived first to the armory's doors. Of course, they were closed but Eragon was waiting outside.
"It's finally time!", Valadir had said with enthusiasm.

Wolnir allowed himself to calm down when Crys told him that they were still safe. After all, she hadn't given him any reason to not trust her. His expression seemed to light up a bit when the messenger told that his surprise was ready. However, he didn't got the oportunity to think about it for long since Crys then started to tell him the reason about the sudden killing of his kind. He hadn't really thought about it's cause, but now he wanted to know.

He found the information somewhat hard to process. It was shocking, even if it sounded like a conspiracy, but even then, he believed it. So some intelligent parasites controlled almost everyone from the shadows in order to extinguish them out of jealousy, while giving them a safe place? He didn't know what to think, really. The dragon hoped that she could find the cause.

With a change of subject, the orange dragon was told that his friend was going to have some special stuff happening to him.
"D-don't tell me what it is g-going to bbe exactly, b-but is it g-going to be a good thing?"

When he saw Val and Eragon waiting for them, he smiled. It was time.

"Whole party's here!", Val had added jokingly.

“I believe that the pros outweigh the cons but it is up to Val to decide. I think it might be a hard decision for him to make. I will have to talk to him about it more...”
Crystal kept her tails bunched and off the ground, mainly to avoid others stepping on them but also to reduce the amount of hair she leaves behind. Her autumn-summer fur is dropping off and the thicker, bushier winter white coat is making its way through.
“Wol. despite what I said, don’t worry about the future. Don’t bother yourself with something that no one can change. Think about what you have now.”

The messenger took them through the outpost, getting further down. The inside the lower parts of the outpost is cold and the only light they got were from the bright lamps. They worked well actually but having no natural light makes her tired. She has noted the ventilation. Circular holes that are roughly the size of head are cut into the walls and ceiling that provide air.

When they arrived the messenger bowed and excused himself. He left swiftly and quietly.

Crystal smiled when she saw Val and Eragon again. Especially Val. Still in his up-tone mood.
“Whole party indeed...”
She focused her attention on Eragon and what is behind him. Two giant dark wooden doors that are lined with metal and nails. Once again reminding her how short she is. The room they are currently in looked like a long foreyard. Mostly bare besides the purple banners along the walls and the few racks with weapons laying about. The few drakes that are in sight are hanging about behind them with a respective gap. They appear to be chatting among themselves.

Eragon let it soak in for a few seconds. He had his wings tightly tucked against his back and the end of his tail twitched. A couple of emotions going through him. The last time a dragon had received armour was over five hundred years ago. By memory that is.
“Lets not delay longer. Unbroken, Brightscaled. I formally invite you to Dralikan and as a gesture of our hospitality I present to you your first of many.”

Eragon walked back and opened the doors with one hand, revealing the armoury. They step onto main walk way that goes through the armoury. Each side of them are racks and stands of weapons, armour in neat rows. Beyond them are much larger, mechanical weapons of all soughts but Eragon lead them straight to the end and there are the two sets of dragon armour.
As they neared the drake explained, “these sets will do for now until we have you properly tailored. The left is your’s Wolnir and Valadir, the right one is yours.”

Wonlir’s set is bright silver and well polished. It reflected most of the glow light. The armour consists of an open cheek helmet. Protecting mainly the top of his snout back of the head, brow and first few centimetres of the horns. The neck is completely covered by many smaller plates. Slits have been cut to free up Wolnir’s hair on his neck. Shoulders and chest are also completely covered that continues down to the underside. The back is likewise, made of plate to allow movement and is completely covered as well as the quadriceps. The wings, tails and legs are exposed. All the plates, excluding the helmet, are braided together with cable wires in different patterns. The cable wire is well treated to be extremely flexible allowing maximum movement and able to keep the plates all in place very well. The armour also has white and blue coloured accents around the helmet, neck chest and back. Not resembling anything in particular. Overall the armour is made to be light and elegant.

Valadir’s armour is similar in design, except the plates are a little thicker and the tail is covered besides the tip. His armour is mat black and generally more aggressive looking. Red patterns are painted across the armour. Both sets have a small layer of black leather under the plates to protect the dragons from the constant rubbing of the metal.

Crystal stood back and let the dragon have there time. She folded her arms, smiled and watched them.

“These are made of perisiemic alloy metal. One of three natural metals that are found only underneath these mountains. Perisiemium is the standard and most common for weapon smithing are armour. A little heavy to carry around but this particular alloy is flexible, strong and has an extremely high melting point. They will serve you well for now. Go try it on.”

As if on cue, four drake approached them from the racks and bowed to the dragons and offered their help to out the armour on.
“War is death to the old and birth to the new.”

Wolnir nodded when Crys told him a bit about Val's upcoming changes. A hard decision to make, but he trusted that his friend would be able to take whatever choice was best.

Seeing how her hair was falling made the dragon look behind them to see if his was too. Luckily, that wasn't the case. He actually liked having hair. He considered that it made his personal image look better, and thus liked to have it well taken care of. However, it grew a bit too fast for his taste.

The dragon meeped when Crys told him to not worry himself too much, but he couldn't help it. He feared that another event out of his paws stripped him from what he held dear and left him alone. Again. He quickly tried to distract himself by reminding himself that the surprise was near and by looking at how his surroundings were changing. A ceiling with ventilation and lamps that looked quite good. There was hardly any light coming from the holes, so he wondered if it was because they were deep inside of the mountain or if it was because it was nighttime already. When he saw Val and Eragon at the end of a room, one could even see him excited.

Even if they hadn't taken long, Valadir considered the wait to be eternal. He was quite antsy and with a smile that seemed hard to erase.
Eragon's words added expectancy to the guests, and when they got to see the inside of the massive door, both dragons looked around in surprise. Valadir whistled in astonishment. That was the neatiest assortment of weaponry and armor he had ever seen. There were a lot of designs he hadn't seen before.

"If my father were here, i bet you couldn't take him away from this place for nothing in the world!", the black dragon said jokingly.

Shortly after he said that, they were presented the armors. None of the dragons saw that one coming.

At first, Wolnir felt a bit worried about it. He thought that maybe they were manipulating him to put the armor on and send him to fight again, but after inspecting it up close, he recovered his smile. It was so shiny and clean that he could see himself in it almost as well as in the mirror, and they even left some space in the neck for his hair to come out. Overall, he was liking it from the looks alone, and he could even dress up as well as everyone else in the building. He also thought that the choice of armor was funny since he considered that it fitted his title quite well. Brightness all around. When they were allowed to put them on, he thought that it couldn't be harder than the harness he sometimes had to use in the meadery to carry the heaviest of barrels around. Even then, he gladly accepted the help.

Valadir, on the other hand, conserved his smile through the whole deal. He got that sensation you get when you get gifted something that you didn't know you wanted so badly. He liked it, even if the armor looked a bit aggresive and not as shiny because of the tone of black. However, the red were. In a way, he thought it fitted him pretty well, specially because the colors matched his scales. Luckily some drakes appeared to help him put it on. He was eager to do so, but he didn't have a clue about how to put it one, except for the helmet.

"If i'm completely honest here, i didn't think i would ever be wearing one of these", the black dragon said while the drakes that were going to help him got the pieces out of the rack. After all, he had been basically naked all his life. Except maybe for the backpack, if that counted.

"And uhhh... i mean no disrespect by any means, but i bet this would have come really handy before... at a certain beach..."

"W-what beach?" Wolnir asked out of curiosity, just before they started to help him with the main body of the armor.

"Right, we didn't tell you that one..." Valadir then went on after he finished with the tail, "It was just me, him"-nodding at Eragon while he said it- "and like two other guys in a beach against what it felt like a fucking army. Biggest massacre i have ever seen! If anything, that's a story to tell now" The drakes seemed to have waited for him to finish talking in order to put him the rest of the armor. Wolnir didn't reply back, since he was told to stay still. However, that scenario didn't sound pretty at all. Luckily he didn't have to partake on it.

Wolnir was the first to be ready. His experience with the harness helped him a bit. After the main body was done, and his neck was too, he put on the helmet and stood up. Overall, it was more comfortable than he expected. The leather made a good job. It still felt heavy, though, but he thought he wouldn't take long to get used to it. He looked at himself. No cover on the limbs, but that made it more comfortable. But then again, that one was temporal.

"H-how do i look?", he asked shyly.

Valadir didn't reply back since he was halfway through the process. He found it a bit hard to put it on but luckily he had help. He also stood up after everything was in place and walked in circles a couple of times to feel the armor. Even if the leather made it better, he found it a bit uncomfortable, since he had lost quite a bit of weight during the last year and the armor was clearly intended for someone bigger than him. Still, he trusted that with enough time, he could grow used to it. After all, he was told that more would come, and he was eager to see the rest.

"You look good, Wol. I bet you are going to blind me to no end! Specially under the sun..." The comment made Wolnir smile a bit more.

The black armored dragon then walked to Eragon, with his smile still there.
"Been told to not do it... But since when did that stop me... This is my thanks" He then hugged the drake tightly with his right paw.

Eragon laughed at Valadir's sentence. Never thought he would ever wear one.
"If you're going to live with us, you're going to dress like us. Our dress code is a little different then everyone else's as you could probably tell by now. Armour or metal wear isn't just for war. It is uniform. It shows one's rank, occupation, reflects one's personality and deeds. You will find that not just military personal will just be wearing one. Masons, engineers, builders so one so fourth."

When we brought up the beach he grew a little more serious.
"Well, if we carried it to the beach, I doubt we would have reached you in time."
And when Valadir finished telling the tale Eragon added, "I think it was a good fight. Haven't done that for a long time."
Eragon thought about the difference in how he sees fights compared to how they see it. Drakes take it as an opportunity to gain fame and glory, while others do there best to avoid it. He can't blame them. The will to survive is strong which is good. Keeps them out of trouble.

The drake looked over Wolnir. The reflective silver suits his orange scales. Eragon liked it. Considering what was available he thinks he did a very good job at choosing the armour for both dragons.
Replying to Wolnoir's question he said, "You are as bright as the sun Brightscaled. It matches you well. I should note that for the next one..."

Crystal went to lean against a rack full of funny looking spears. As she did she missed the stand itself and hit the spear instead and knocked the spear from its hook. Realising what is happening she went to grab the spear but misjudged its weight and is slipped out of her hands and hit the ground with a loud noise. She cringed and looked at Eragon who looked back at her and the spear. He gave her an irritated look. After five seconds she got the bright idea of picking it up and putting it back in its place. The spear is twice her height and probably weighs for than her as well. She needed to use a little arcane to help her.

When she finished Eragon looked back at the dragons and found them both finished fussing about. The helping drakes stood back and gave them room. The big purple drake looked at them both. A sight that he thought he would never see again. They both look fearsome and able. Dragon and drake finally side by side again.

As Eragon pondered over his chain of thought Valadir walked up to him and hugged him. Eragon's eyes widened and he looked down at the black dragon. All thoughts of fearsome dragons left him.
Then there is their touchy personality...
He didn't move for some time. No one besides his soulmate and family has touched him as intimately as this. Such occurrences are super rare. Before Eragon got any more uncomfortable he slipped out of Valadir's tight grip.
"Alright, Valadir. You've shown your appreciation."

Seeing Eragon extremely awkward made Crystal giggle. It's funny how drakes react to things that they aren't so fond or familiar with.
"You both look very nice indeed. Now let's get going. I'm tired and would like a good nights sleep before I'm surrounded by more things in scales."
She followed her sentence with a yawn.

Eragon nearly yawned himself. Maybe it is time for bed. There is still a lot to be accomplished and organised such as war to come.
"Perhaps you are right. There is still a lot to do and finally, a good sleep should help us with that. Let's walk back up."

Before they walked back up a drake walked to Valadir with an object under a cloth. The small drake revealed the object as Valadir's elvish sword with a new black leather custom sheath that perfectly fits it.
"As you requested Unbroken."

Crystal was the first one go through as she memorised the path she took. Followed by the dragons and Eragon.
The drake said to the dragons, "the armour will feel heavy and a little uncomfortable but you should get used to it in a few days. Think of it as a stepping stone to your final piece."

The walked slowly on the way up.
“War is death to the old and birth to the new.”

"Mhmm", Valadir let out as the drake explained the nature of the armor. It was like clothing, then. A type of clothing that happened to be heavier than normal clothing and that had protective properties. If anything, he thought it looked cooler than regular clothing.

"True...". he replied when Eragon added that the transport of the armor wouldn't have let them save him in time. After all, he was right. Had his rescuers arrived a couple seconds later, he would have died with a sword through his skull.
"That fight was quite exausting, though!"

Wolnir smiled when the drake complimented him. He also liked it a lot, and the next set was going to be shiny too. He would be able to live to his title, but he also hoped that he wouldn't interfere with anyone's day with his extra level of brightness. When he heard the sound of the falling weapon, he got startled and faced at the direction of the sound. It was Crystal's little accident. He went to help.

"Sorry..." Valadir had said as Eragon slipped away. He found his reaction to be a bit amusing. Like if he wasn't used to be hugged at all. He got carried away by his feelings, but he couldn't help it. It was just that the day had been so great so far!

The dragons couldn't help but to agree when Crystal proposed going to sleep. After all, they had spent the majority of the day in the air. It was hard to not feel tired after such a long and eventful day. Wolnir thought about the cushion. He would finally be able to see if it was as soft and comfortable as he thought it was.
"I-i would mind s-some sleep...", Wolnir had added.

However, someone intercepted the black dragon and handed him his trophy, considering that they had exceeded his expectations. The new sheath fitted both his scales and his armor quite well. It looked sturdy and was neatly sewn. The dirt and blood on the hilt and guard were gone, and the blade looked well-polished and sharp.

"Damn, it looks quite good now. Thanks!", he told the drake that delivered him the sword. He hoped that he wouldn't be judged much due to him carrying a non-drake weapon. He didn't strap it to his waist, instead he carried it with his right paw while walking with the other.

When they went outside of the room, just about every drake in the immediacy of the armory's door turned around to see how the dragons looked in their armor. They didn't take their eyes off of them until they walked out of sight. They bowed when the dragons started to stare back.

Eragon told them how they would get used to the amor in a few days, Wolnir thought it wouldn't be much trouble for him due to it being lighter than he hoped, and the leather made it feel like he had the harness on, but with a bit more weight. On the other hand, Valadir asked:
"So that means that we have to sleep with these things on, right? If so, any tips for going to the bathroom with it?"

“You don’t have to sleep in it. That is very uncomfortable but it depends if you want to take it off and put it back on again. If you choose to do so let me know so I can help you put it back on. As for your needs... You will find an easy accessible strap where your gut is. That will release your armour and I think you can guess the rest. Strapping it back together is also self explanatory.”

Eragon decided to leave his armour until the morning. He rather stick to his black cotton clothing for now. More comfortable a lighter.

When they walked back up, night had completely fallen over the mountains, making the lamps shine ever so brightly. Their warm glow makes the inside feel cozy and welcoming. The few remaining drakes walking around are going to sleep or guards slowly pacing around their designated area. Every time the group passed a guard, they bowed humbly. They passed Syrax the ice drake at one point. The cold drake just stared at them, not giving them the chance to tell what he is thinking.

Back up to where the rooms are the end platform is lit by four red lamps to indicate it is a platform while while the rest inside are the normal amber/yellow colour.

Crystal yawned again and bid them goodnight.
“See you all in the morning. Don’t wake me up unless we are going to die or are offering some sweets to me.” She said as she walked to her room.

Eragon replied to her saying, “Goodnight Crystal Fireflower.”

Crystal turned and looked at the purple drake surprised. He referred to her to what they used to call her a time long ago. What he just said meant a lot. It is a way of saying welcome back. She smiled, slipped into her room and closed the door.

Eragon turned to the dragons.
“I think we should do the same thing. Do you need help getting the armour off?”
“War is death to the old and birth to the new.”

Valadir grunted in acknowledgement when Eragon said that sleeping inside the armor was uncomfortable. He had figured that was the case, specially since he was just getting used to it. He preferred to only sleep in it when he had to go back to beyond the mountains. When the drake told about the strap, he looked down to where the strap was supposed to be. It was indeed accessible. Wolnir looked at his friend to get an idea of where it was, too. He figured that his armor had to have it in the same place too.

After distracting themselves looking at the neat lamps, the dragons had arrived at their room. Valadir went to where he left his backpack and placed the refurbished sword alongside it, between it and the cape. The two objects that helped him endure those last and terrible months were again reunited.

"If you get some, bring me one too!", Valadir sarcastically said when Crystal waved her goodbyes. "Sleep tight"

Wolnir smiled when they had arrived. He liked the general coziness of the room, and besides, he would be able to see how comfortable the cushions really were. Besides, it had been a long day and he was rather tired. He yawned right after Crys had, almost as if she passed it. "S-sweet dreams", he had said to her.

"Please", Valadir replied at Eragon's offer. He got the helmet off first and let the drake help him with the rest. Wolnir looked at the process, trying to see if he could replicate the steps on his own. He tried, but eventually gave up halfway through after being unable to reach several places alone and waited for the others to finish.

The orange dragon petted his fur after they were done. "T-thankies..."
He then went to where the cushions were and laid down on one of them, smiling and emptying his lungs as he laid. He found them really comfortable, specially after not sleeping in anything resembling a bed in many months. The fact that he was close to the fire made it better. The dragon was clearly happy.

Valadir had also gone to the cushions after both sets of armor had been dealt with. When he neared one of them and looked at it, he considered it to be a bit big, but in that case he couldn't really complain about it. At the end of the day, it meant more wiggling room.
"Damn, this beats sleeping on the grass anytime of the day!", he said happily when he laid down. Wolnir nodded at his statement.
"Right, good night to both of you!" The black dragon then faced the fire and shutted his eyes. Even with all the comfiness, it took him a bit longer than he expected to fall asleep, mainly because he couldn't help but to think how the day had gone. During one part of the day, they were still fighting for their lives somewhat, and in the other he felt as if he was suddenly living the high life. Good food, a place to rest and an unexpected gift. Neither him nor his friend could really complain about how they were treated on their stay at the mountains.
It didn't take long for Wolnir to fall asleep.

"FUCK-" Valadir yelled in the middle of the night, punching the air. He opened his eyes and looked around. "you..." He was still on the room, but he was still quite startled. He closed his eyes back and inhaled deeply a couple times to calm down a bit. The dragon had just had a nightmare. It was about the first time he had to kill someone, which then morphed into the torture of being caged for all those weeks. All the mocking, being laughed at and being starved every day without almost anything to do. He remembered feeling so scared at his first kill, and the fact that he had found it pleasurable to wipe his captors when he and Eragon escaped the cages made it disturbing. The nightmare seemed like a way for his mind to remind him that stuff wasn't over just because he was in a safe place. He still had to deal with what he went through, and if he had to be honest with himself, the only thing keeping him from fully enjoying himself now, was the fact that he would have to abandon the place and go back down there to fight again, without knowing if he would ever get to return to the mountains.

After reopening his eyes, he looked around the room once again. Everyone seemed to be still sleeping, or maybe they were faking it and he didn't realize. Except for Wolnir. He wasn't there. Valadir figured that he was probably in the bathroom, unloading all the mead he had drank on dinner. He thought about going too, and maybe talking to someone on the way to regain the capability to sleep again.

The room's door was half-closed, and after pushing it and making it to the hallway, the dragon saw that Wolnir wasn't in the bathroom. He was by the platform, curled up quite tightly. Walking up to the orange ball, Valadir noticed that he was tearing up. It seemed that he was making the attempt to cry as quietly as possible.

"Nightmare?" Val asked as he sat next to his friend. It was cold out there, and it was still quite dark.

"Mhmm mhmm", the orange replied back, uncurling a bit to see who was it. Since they got back together, Val always seemed to have his back. He was ever grateful for it.
"Yeah, just had one too, and it was so vivid..."
A handful of seconds later, Wolnir dragged himself closer to Val and presses his head against the black dragon to vent out. Val then carassed his fur as usual. After all, that seemed to work so far.
"I-i m-miss everyone..." Wolnir said between tears.
"I know how you feel" Valadir replied, "It's hard not to. I bet dad would have loved the armory, but sadly we can't do anything for anyone anymore..."
