Airic and Nicholas looked out towards the city, paying mind to the shrill cries of the Nightwalkers, the bone-chilling cackles. The twins fell silent as they followed Lucy through the gate and towards the city. They came up along either side of, just a step or two behind. Airic tucked his hands into his pockets and looked around casually. "Should be an exciting walk into the city..." he commented, glancing at Lucy. He wished she had chosen to leave during more day light hours, but he wasn't going to complain. They just had to be careful. Nicholas was a little more jumpy about being out in the city at night, but he was fine as long as he kept Airic and Lucy within his line of sight. The three of them could easily take on a Nightwalker or two, more than that they would have their hands full.

"I know you would've..." Kai said turning his head a little to look at her, a small smirk slipped across his lips "You can handle yourself." He was no fool, he knew she was perfectly capable of handling herself. That didn't make him worry any less though. "I just couldn't sit by knowing something was happening to you..." he looked away again. "Besides the sun was going down, wasn't a big deal." He turned down another street to try and get to a short cut back to the house. His gaze darted from shadows that moved in the corner of his vision. A low growl formed in his throat as one of the dark figures moved a little too close. Fortunately they paid them no mind and continued on their way.

"Hmm, I see..." Crypt replied simply and although it bothered him he didn't show it. Clearly he wasn't just going to let this go and had full intentions of visiting her anyways. They needed to talk about this, letting it simmer wasn't going to help either of them. He waved at Malachai dismissively "Thank you, Malachai." He moved towards the door taking a deep breath. This wasn't going to be a fun confrontation. Usually he handled these things well but that was always with people he didn't care about. Pyra was so dear to him.

Lucy reached into her purse for the baton though she left it closed, carrying it just in case she needed it but hoping she wouldn't have to use it. The dark metal felt cool and familiar in her right hand as she lowered it to her side, scanning their surroundings as she made her way through the city. Luckily the restaurant she ordered from wasn't far from the palace, but despite not being fearful she was certainly feeling a bit nervous. Nightwalkers were a different type of evil from the average and the cackling she could hear caused the hair on the back of her neck to stand on end. Perhaps she should have done this when there was more light out, but to be fair she hadn't woken up more than two hours ago. She's never slept for so long before, but having been fed from threw her system off. "Maybe someone should tell your big bad leader to stock the kitchen a little so these walks can be avoided..." she muttered, turning left onto a side street just in time to see a figure dart across the street ahead of them. Creepy...

Ellie's gaze lowered to the street as she bit her bottom lip, a distant look in her light gaze. That whole situation brought back many dark memories for her, she learned to live with it but they still haunted her... "Too many have imprisoned and tried to use me...I won't let it happen again..."she mumbled seemingly to herself. Many thought they could control her and therefore her gifts, but they were all wrong...she would never use them to harm or scare others. These people didn't know she had gifts, a mumble and a shift of air didn't prove anything, but she knew what that man wanted. The look in his eyes had said enough. "I can smell burnt skin Kai..."she sighed, wanting to say it was foolish for him to risk himself like that but his growling distracted her. It was too dangerous to linger out here. "Let's just get back..."

Malachai bowed before he went on his way.

Pyra had made it back to her room moments ago, changing into a pair of pajamas before she sat at her desk where she had tossed her folder when she first got here. In the end she hadn't found the Twins but she also hadn't tried very hard to do so either. It was silly to think that she needed protection anyway and she had half a mind to go out without them. All she would be doing is looking at things for the ball, surely it would bore them. That wasn't something to worry over right now though. She ran a hand through her hair with a sigh and opened the thick folder, glancing over the doodles she made among the scraps of paper she shoved into it but not really seeing any of them. With everything currently on her mind she found it difficult to concentrate on what she needed to be doing.

Nicholas and Airic looked at Lucy for a moment and then at each other, exchanging a silent conversation. After a moment Airic looked away and replied quietly "That can be arranged..." he shrugged like it wasn't a big deal. Nicholas looked at his twin and smiled a little in amusement before he turned his attention to their surroundings. Almost immediately both the twins alerted on the figure that darted across the street, both simultaneously moved closer to Lucy. A grim expression fell over Airic, his lips pressed into a thin line. It was probably just a Nightwalker, that was the only real threat these days, but that didn't mean they could be careless. "Perhaps going in the day time would be a smarter path huh?" he commented casually, not really taking into account that she was probably exhausted from when Nicholas fed on her. Nicholas, however, was a little more sensitive to the matter and cleared his throat, shooting his brother a look that warned him to be quiet.

Kai looked at her quietly and found himself a bit bothered by that statement. To think she was imprisoned on more than one occasion bothered him, but he remained silent. Figuring she probably didn't want to talk about it. He blinked and subconsciously touched a spot on his neck where the most severe burn was, taking a little longer to heal than the others. He frowned and looked away, he was used to being burned by the sun. Up until recently he would often play a game of chicken with the sun, though of course he lost every time. Forced to retreat back into the shadows with burns that would take days to recover from. He shook his head "Yeah, we should hurry..." he mumbled and picked up the pace a little, eyeing the shadows where he knew Nightwalkers were lurking.

It hadn't taken Crypt long to arrive at Pyra's door, lingering just outside of it with a heavy sense of hesitancy. He was almost...afraid to confront her. Yet he had to remind himself this wasn't the first time she's seen him work, but now that she was an important person in his life it bothered him more. He never regretted anything he did in his job. He always believed it was done in the best interest of the Rebels, of the city, he did what he had to as a leader. At least, that's how he saw it. He raised his hand and knocked on the door lightly, bowing his head a little and listening intently for any signs of movement from within. "Pyra?" he called gently.

Lucy paused, clenching her hands until a sharp pain shot up her right arm from how hard she was gripping the metal baton she forgot she was holding. A string of words came to her lips, but she kept her mouth shut so as to not say the wrong thing and make Nicholas feel guilty about feeding from her. Airic seemed so bothered by her presence now that she was no longer a kid, but she hadn't asked him to tag along. That was on them. She shook her head and started to walk again, crossing the road towards a dimly lit store front. As promised it hadn't taken long to get here, and before she knew it she was entering the cozy little restaurant, motioning for them to wait outside. This way she could move more quickly and not keep the owners up longer than necessary. The graying haired woman at the register vanished into the back upon seeing Lucy who dug out her wallet and set some money on the counter. She took the brown bag from her with a smile and left the establishment, glancing briefly at the Twins as she headed back towards the Palace.

Ellie nodded, sticking close to his side as she matched his pace. The strange feeling was still there but she shoved it aside. It wouldn't do them any good to let herself be distracted out here, she was already tired from the excitement she had found herself in today. It had been stressful and it was safe to say she would do her best to avoid the Twins from now on, although she did have a feeling this wouldn't be the last she saw of those people. That was something she tried not to think about as she looked up, a small sense of relief coming over her as the buildings thinned out and the clearing that separated them from home came into view. They weren't exactly safe quite yet, but she did feel a little more relaxed now that there was more distance between her and the Palace. There wasn't such a heavy pressure on her chest.

Pyra lifted her head from the desk as a knock came to her door, a voice following it. His voice. A frown crossed her lips, had Malachai not been able to find him in time? Or was he so upset that he wasn't willing to let what she had done go? Either was possible, but maybe this was a good chance to see if he truly saw her as more than a Rebel now or not. There was always the option of pretending that she wasn't in but she would have to leave her room eventually and Crypt wasn't the type of man to let himself go unheard. She let out a small sigh as she got up and moved towards the door, opening it without a word much less a glance. Having no idea in what sort of state he was in she felt it best to let him speak first. Of course she was a little nervous, but she did well to hide it as she made her way back over to her desk to tidy up a bit. There were papers scattered all over its surface.

The twins were quiet for a bit, Nicholas feeling rather bothered now. Airic looking over at his twin almost apologetically but no words left his lips. They looked at the store curiously as they approached it and looked mildly disappointed she asked them to wait outside. Yet to respect her wishes, the twins stood outside of the shop. They lingered by the door, almost like bodyguards daring anyone to try and get inside. Airic leaned against the side of the building, crossing his arms over his chest. "Loosen up, Nicky..." he grumbled "You're putting me in a bad mood." He finally spoke once Lucy had entered the shop. Nicholas shot him a look "If you could be a little more sensitive I'd greatly appreciate it! If Crypt ever found out..." he started but quickly stopped himself. It was something that's been plaguing him since. As close as the Twins were with the Rebel leader, he was very particular about his rules. Lucy wasn't to be touched. Airic walked over to his brother and grabbed him roughly by the collar of his shirt "Shut up," he warned. They both looked over as Lucy left the shop. They quickly re-composed themselves and hurried after her as she started towards the palace again.

Kai looked at the home in the near distance with a great sense of relief. It showed in the single breath that escaped his lips in a relieved sigh. They weren't entirely safe yet but safer now that the Palace was some distance away. He looked over at Ellie for a moment, studying her quietly. For a moment he found himself entranced, though he quickly shook his head, and continued towards the house. Had a crazy day... he said, running a hand over his face. He was quiet as he tucked his hands into his pockets and looked at nothing in particular, letting his guard down just a little bit. Perhaps it was too early to be doing that, but his thoughts started to distract him.

Crypt was almost surprised she opened the door, half expecting her to be too angry at him to do so. If she was angry that is. He wasn't entirely sure at the moment. He lingered in the doorway for a moment even after she opened the door, tidying up the desk further in the room. He looked back into the hallway before stepping into the room quietly. "Pyra..." he started "Can we talk about this?" he asked lightly. He wasn't angry at her, which was almost crazy to him. He should be angry right? Instead he only felt concerned that she was upset with him. Perhaps even a little guilty.

Lucy could feel tension in the air but assumed it was because they were out on the streets during Nightwalker hours. It wasn't the most ideal time to be out wandering about but that hadn't been something she could control. If it had been she would've gladly gone out during daylight hours as 'smart' people do. She shook her head and scanned the surrounding area as she calmed herself down, catching the sound of a glass bottle rolling across pavement as if someone had kicked it coming from one of the alleyways. A Nightwalker trying to entice her into a trap maybe? Thankfully she wasn't dumb enough to fall for it, not that her bodyguards would let her even if she was. They were persistent creatures so she knew that they would be followed until they made it back to the Palace, she wasn't worried though. She slipped her purse into her food bag since it had enough room for it and quickened her pace, knowing the Twins would keep up just fine. Though she was faster than the average human she couldn't outrun a vampire, if she could then she would get as far from Crypt and his minions as possible. I can dream.

Ellie made her way into the clearing, keeping her gaze on the trees on the opposite side that surrounded the house. Her heart wasn't racing as much now since she was more focused on getting him inside to where it was safe. His skin was probably still sensitive from the game of peekaboo he played with the sun and she didn't know if there were any side effects. He looked okay but she felt stressed anyway, blaming it not only on him for making her worry but the amount of emotions she was forced to go through today. All she had wanted was a nice day out to buy him a few things and that hadn't happened. She clenched her hands, being mindful of her shopping bags as they moved across the open space. There weren't any bushes or big enough branches she could catch them on, but knowing her luck she'd find a way to rip one of them wide open.

"Talk about what?" Pyra replied without much emotion to her voice, placing a small stack of blank paper into one of the desk drawers, His tone sounded calm but she knew how easy he could hide his emotions when it suited the situation. Quite a few came to mind, reminding her just how many times she has seen him do something less than desirable. He was cruel in his ways when it came to work, doing what he believed he had to do...but she would never agree that bringing young vampires into this sort of life would lead to anything good. She sighed softly and returned a few loose pens into a metal tin on the back left corner of her desk, stepping back to make sure everything was where she wanted it before she turned away from it with her arms crossed in front of her. Clearly she was still unhappy, but that was about it.

The Twins eventually fell into a content silence, a mutual agreement between the two to focus on the task at hand. They lingered just a step or two behind Lucy, their footsteps matching step for step. As expected, both their gazes snapped towards the glass bottle that clinked across the pavement. A soft growl formed in Airic's throat, more out of annoyance than anything. More than likely some sort of Nightwalker trick, only fools would fall for such a thing. His gaze flickered towards the alleyway and it did not waver from that spot until they had passed it. The last thing he wanted was to give Nightwalkers even the slightest chance of trying something. Nicholas turned his attention forward again, keeping an eye out for any other odd occurrences. Though, he supposed they weren't all that odd. Crypt was right after all, Nightwalkers were filthy tricksters that would sooner eat them alive than ask for a truce.

Kai continued on in silence as they crossed the clearing, suddenly half cursing the large distance their little home was from the city. Simultaneously feeling grateful for it. He was relieved when they finally reached the house and he wasted no time opening the door and slipping inside. Admittedly some small part of him feared the sun might suddenly rise once more. As crazy as he was and as often as he did challenge the sun, it still hurt a Hell of a lot. He lingered in the shadows of the house and looked back at Ellie to make sure she made it inside, as if she might suddenly be swept away by unseen forces. For the most part, they were safe now. The Nightwalkers didn't often wander out into this area, seeing as though prey was more plentiful in the deeper parts of the city. The Rebels also wouldn't dare mess with them again, at least for now.

Crypt sighed a little, not really wanting to play this game of 'guess what'. He gazed at her quietly and walked a little closer, though kept some distance. He wasn't sure just how upset she really was at him and he didn't want to push his luck. "I hadn't meant the girl any harm and the boy was a Nightwalker. An enemy of the city..." he said softly, yet knowing it sounded more like an excuse than anything. "I'm sorry, Pyra. I hadn't meant to upset you," he offered. He had to be careful here, again not sure where her thoughts and emotions lie at the moment. It was bad enough she didn't agree that he had brought his own nephew into this life, let alone be bothering some possibly-innocent strangers.

It wasn't much longer before Lucy turned onto the road that led back to the Palace, she was moving more quickly now and seemed to be lost in a world of her own. Some would see this as foolish, but she was simply allowing herself to focus more on the journey back. The Twins nor their stalker was her concern and the unease faded even more as she slipped through the small opening in the gate when she reached it, offering the guards a dip of her head in silent thanks. These people may not be her favorite in the world for various reasons, but she knew how to show gratitude when it counted the most. She pulled her hair over her right shoulder and made her way towards the front doors, tempted to go to her room and eat to get away from Airic and Nicholas but she knew her Aunt would roll in her grave if she did that. Her parents had taught her to be frigid and withdrawn, but her Aunt had taught her the importance of manners. Whether they came along or not she didn't care. Table manners were easier to keep in mind than people manners right now.

Ellie watched Kai disappear into the house, taking a moment to herself to soothe her chaotic mind. There was a lot up there, but she was home now and wanted to relax for just a minute before they discussed anything again. She took a few deep breaths, straightened her jacket a little, and entered the silent house once she felt okay. It felt eerie but she paid it no mind as she set the bags on the couch without looking at Kai. Before anything she wanted him to have the things she got for him, she hadn't gone into the city for nothing after all. "...I thought you might like some other things to wear..."her voice was soft as she spoke, as if she were embarrassed, and she was unwilling to point out that he only wore one set of clothes. That would be rude. She hadn't gone overboard, but she wanted him to have options. In total there were three pairs of jeans, four shirts, a vest, a pair of shoes and some other necessities. "I c-can...return it if you don't like it..."

Pyra bit the inside of her lip, her gaze hardening as she looked at him. He just said it himself, Kai was an enemy. Ellie had proven to be close to him so why would they have respected her especially when he had given no verbal instruction? Kai could've perhaps not burst into the Palace as he had, but would Crypt have not done the same if it had been her that was taken by someone? "You put her at risk." You put me at risk... Her tone was slightly bitter as she replied, though her gaze shifted into something more saddened for just a brief second before it hardened again and she looked down at the carpet. So what if one of his Rebels had taken advantage of the situation to lash out at her...? What did it matter? She was still feeling a tad frustrated about the situation.

The twins left Lucy alone for the most part as they maneuvered their way back to the palace. She seemed to be in her own little world of thoughts and they decided to let her remain that way. Nicholas feeling a bit embarrassed around her at the moment and Airic just being a bit grumpy as usual. They kept close enough to her to be of quick aid should anything happen, but walked quietly behind her. They slipped through the gate after her, unlike her, not giving the guards so much as a glance. Mostly just out of knowing the guards personally and thus not feeling the need to show their gratitude, perhaps assuming the guards knew of their gratitude. The duo followed her up to the palace doors, Nicholas now daring to break the silence. "What'd you get to eat?" he asked her with faint curiosity.

Kai tucked his hands into the pockets of his jeans and dipped his head a little, peering over at her through the darkened room, his eyes gleaming softly in the shadows. She should be living in the rays of sunlight, not shut away in the shadows like this... he thought though it only crossed his mind briefly. He tilted his head and edged closer to the bags out of curiosity "Oh...well thank you," he said leaning over to peer in the bags. "I appreciate it..." he said and sheepishly tugged at the hem of his shirt. He supposed picking out new outfits hadn't been on his list of priorities so for it to cross her mind was rather heart warming.

"No harm was going to come to her, Pyra..." Crypt said lightly "The Rebels knew the Nightwalker was my only issue." He moved a little closer to her, a small frown danced along his features "You know my job isn't always pretty." He stopped again and bit the inside of his lip, shifting weight from one foot to the other. He felt like he was walking on egg shells, on a pane of glass ready to shatter. This was the aspect of his job he so desperately wanted to shield her from. Certainly she knew of this side to it, being a previous Rebel, but now he wanted nothing more than to hide it away. That's not possible though, and you know it.

[Reposted to refresh.]

Lucy moved through the wide halls towards the kitchen. It was quiet but that didn't shock her too much. Vampires were silent creatures, usually not heard unless they wanted to be heard. That's what her parents used to tell her anyway. They weren't the most honest people so she didn't know how much she believed the things they used to tell her, but they worked with them for a long time so what did she know. As one of the Twins broke through her thoughts she glanced over her shoulder, feeling slightly annoyed until she realized it was Nicholas who spoke. He was a gentle soul compared to many of the people here, definitely much less annoying than his counterpart. "Spaghetti, and bread sticks." She answered quietly, looking forward as the kitchen doors came into view. Now that they were back she didn't feel as hungry as when she first woke up, but she knew she needed to eat at least a little bit. The idea that they might complain at her if she didn't after making a big deal about getting her food helped to push her forward. She took a deep breath to ease her own mood, turning on the lights before she moved over to the counter.

Ellie moved to the other end of the couch, sitting down and distractedly removing her boots. There was still a lot on her mind, no matter how much she tried to quiet the thoughts that ran through it they lingered. It wasn't that unusual, her mind has always been a bit hyperactive, especially when it came to things she was curious about. "I hope they'll all fit..."she replied quietly, looking at him with a tiny shrug. He hadn't given her his sizes and she hadn't asked so she was a little worried about it. There didn't really seem to be seamstresses these days, or at least none like the one Alice had taken her to when she was a little girl. Things were vastly different from what she was used to, but she's adapted well to the changes. For the most part. "I can exchange them if not..."

"Right. How many times have there been casualties when you've sent them off before?" Pyra knew he would possibly lie and say there had been none, but she knew better than that. She has been around long enough to know the chaos the Rebels have caused in the lives of some. They may not be as bad as the Nightwalkers when they gathered, but they weren't innocent. Not even she was. "There is a difference between ugly and irresponsible, Crypt." She stepped away from him. He may not have seen it on his little power trip in there, but doing anything to Kai with Ellie there might not have resulted in a good end. They didn't know what she was capable of, if anything at all. It wasn't just their safety she had been concerned about.
