Alice looked towards Lillian and dipped her head a little, a silent signal of dismissal. Lillian smiled and gave her a small bow in return, peering over at Ellie. "Enjoy your morning young Miss," she said before turning to head back up the stairs to finish up her morning duties. She could see why Miss Alice seemed fond of the young girl. She really was such a sweet child. Alice beamed and held out her hand to help Ellie down the last few steps, "Good morning, Ellie." She greeted, her dark blue dress contrasting her pale skin and raven hair. "How are you feeling?" She asked, looking the young girl over as if searching for anything wrong. One might say she was growing a sort of motherly instinct over the child, something Alice wouldn't deny nor agree to. Having never been a mother before it would be impossible for her to tell.

Ellie looked after Lillian as the lady left, leaving her alone with Alice who held out her hand. Being the little girl she was who, as of right now, didn't understand a whole lot she thought that she was asking for the shirt she had in her hands. An embarrassed pout crossed her lips as she held it out, clearly worried that she would get into some type of trouble for getting blood on it. It wasn't her shirt. "I messed it..."she mumbled, now too nervous to answer Alice's question about how she was feeling. Her back did still kind of hurt, but she knew those wounds would take some time to heal. Time was something Ellie had a lot of. "I sorry..."another mumble as she stared at the lower steps, the ends of her long, snow white, hair dancing in the air around her. The wind was stirring slightly due to her being so nervous, she hoped it didn't get out of hand or else she would have a lot of explaining to do and she wasn't sure she wanted to talk about it. Alice proved to be trustworthy, but she just didn't like it. "I didn't mean to..."

Alice’s gaze fell on the shirt and for the briefest moments was left confused, of course she didn’t let it show. She only smiled and took the shirt in one hand and reached over to brush back some of Ellie’s hair with the other. “Oh sweetie, it’s alright. You don’t need to apologize for anything,” she reassured the young girl. She took Ellie’s hand gently in her own “Come on, how about we do something with your hair and then we can go into town and get you some nice dresses. How does that sound?” she asked. Alice was only vaguely aware of the sudden stir of wind, a breeze but she didn’t think too much on it right now. Truth be told she didn’t know how to take care of children, but she was going with her gut. Her brother Elijah had always been much better with kids. Perhaps I should visit him, he’ll know what to do… she thought, gazing at the snowy-haired child.

Despite what Alice told her she still felt bad about the shirt, she could have taken much better care of it. When one was asleep they weren't aware of what they did, but she could've made it to where she wouldn't have had moved as much. It wasn't like she could do anything about it now but she knew the guilt would linger for some time. That's how it was. Guilt ate at her until it was all she felt and she still felt guilty over her own existence. Maybe if she hadn't been born at all her human parents would've been happy and she wouldn't have bothered the man who turned her or the ones who adopted her. This was bad, she shouldn't be thinking about it and yet there it was. Always haunting her. She was so deeply lost in these thoughts that it startled her when Alice took her hand, almost causing her to pull away but she was quick to steady herself. Ellie still wasn't used to being touched without some kind of pain following it, but she had to remember that this person wouldn't hurt her. That she was safe here. "Don't have to..."she muttered, finally bringing herself to speak. Alice didn't have to get her anything, she didn't feel as if she deserved it because a big part of her still believed that this wouldn't work out. That Alice would eventually grow tired of her too.

The child was so sweet and innocent that it nearly crushed Alice to see just how wounded the little girl was. Mentally, emotionally, broken. The girl tensed when she took her hand, she spoke so softly, hardly looked anyone in the eyes, and spoke as if she didn't deserve a thing in the world. Of course this only made Alice more determined to help her, to show her that there was such a thing as good people and a good life. She gently pulled the young child along, towards the bathroom where they could fix up her hair a little. "Ah, but a young princess like you should have some lovely dresses to wear," she responded brightly. Alice kept a chipper demeanor in hopes of the positivity spreading to the child, keeping her own saddened thoughts to herself. Don't worry little one, I'll make sure you find a nice home here in this palace... she thought, peering down at Ellie.

Princess? Ellie wasn't sure about that. The last person who called her that left her, had they been honest to her at all...? No, she wasn't one...and she wasn't good enough to be one. From all of the stories she's read and heard princesses were meant to be prim and proper, she wasn't any of those things and she didn't think that she could ever be those things. She didn't even know how to wear shoes or what it even felt like, she's lived her entire existence up to this point without them and what if she didn't like them? Would Alice and the others here force her to wear them anyway? There was so much to worry about, a child shouldn't have to worry about so much but...if she had still been human she wouldn't still be a child now would she? She would have grown up, well maybe. Her father and mother had hated her so much they might've just killed her after some time. Stop it. Ellie shook her head, she didn't want to think about them. "I don't need nice things..." she muttered after the silence settled, letting Alice pull her to wherever she was taking her. Not only did she think she didn't deserve nice things but she was afraid that she would ruin them. Every dress she ever owned eventually got ruined because she practically lived outside. It would make her feel awful to ruin pretty things.

Alice guided Ellie to one of the bathrooms to do up her hair and make her neat for going out into town. The little girl needed a confidence boost and Alice had hopes that feeling fresh and looking nice might help with that. “No one needs nice things,” she commented gently, peering down at Ellie “But they’re nice to have. I think you’ll love them…and if not, we’ll figure something else out for you to wear.” Alice kept a positive attitude about this whole thing, finding herself rather…excited to take Ellie into town. There would be many curious glances she was sure; the townspeople would wonder where the girl came from. After all, Alice had gone into town many times, but she was always alone every time. Alice entered the bathroom and brought out a small stool from the corner, setting it up by the sink. “Hmm do you like your hair braided?” Alice asked Ellie curiously, she wanted her to be as comfortable as possible.

I don't deserve them...the small girl thought to herself, eyes on her bare feet as they made their way to she didn't know where. She was bad, an unwanted child, they didn't deserve anything. It was so hard to think otherwise because she had never been taught anything else. Her parents had never built her up and she had no guidance after that, only pain. No one had wanted her, and when finally she thought somebody did they threw her away. A frown crossed her face briefly before she looked up, finding herself in a bathroom. It was very big, as everything was to her, and clean. There wasn't a mess to be seen, but she wasn't looking very hard to begin with. Her curious gaze followed Alice as she got some things out and put it by a sink, she didn't know what they were. It was after that that Alice asked her a question, one she could only shrug on response to. No one has ever done her hair before, it's always only ever been down and tangled. "I don't know..."

Alice pursed her lips in a thoughtful manner, tapping her chin. She smiled brightly and patted the stool briefly "Alright, step up right here for me..." she asked gently. She examined Ellie's hair, finding herself rather excited to do the child's hair. "I think we'll braid the sides and pull that back, it's simple but absolutely beautiful!" She exclaimed enthusiastically. She turned away to gather up the necessary items to do up her hair. Deciding on a comb, small ties, and a single flower. She had plenty of excess flowers lying around which seemed like a rather odd thing to keep around the palace. She received them from her brother on occasion, some plucked from the garden, a few left on the doorstep of the palace from strangers, she really had no idea where all the flowers came from but she put them to good use. She personally loved putting them in her hair, only when she was going out into town however.

Ellie looked at the stool warily as if it would suddenly come to life and bite her if she dared touch it. It didn't look sturdy to her, but Alice wouldn't make her get on it if it wasn't safe, right? She bit her finger as she thought about it, but it wasn't long before she climbed up on it. Alice was taller than her, it wouldn't be nice of her to make her bend all the way over or sit in the floor. Even if it was clean it wouldn't be too comfy. The girl was used to sitting in uncomfortable places, it was normal for her. What Alice meant by braiding the sides she didn't know, but she did trust her enough to not question it. She would know what she meant soon and she was patient even if she didn't seem like it with how fidgety she was right then. That was mostly her nerves, she was always nervous because she didn't know what to do or who to trust. Letting somebody stand behind her and mess with her head was a big step though wasn't it? She didn't know, but she figured it wasn't important as she looked down at her hair. The white strands were pretty long, and uneven. Most of her hair fell to her waist but a small section of it fell inches above it, to the middle of her back, making it clear that at some point she lost some hair somehow.
