(Okay! ^-^ I can't quite remember where Alice and Ellie left off though, so I'mma just post something. XD )

Elijah looked at Claire and smiled softly in amusement, glancing at Ebony and holding up his hands slightly in surrender. Ebony took a small step back once Claire had the cup. "Don't worry, you'll be fine in no time!" she said confidently, a bright smile on her lips. "Drink up and then sleep well." she ordered but her tone was light. "You'll need your beauty rest." she giggled, clasping her hands in front of her. She was confident Claire would get better, confident that everything would work out alright in the end. "I'll clean up around the cabin for a bit and then get some sleep as well." she added thoughtfully, not fond of the silence in the cabin. Not fond of the collecting dust either. She didn't mind cleaning though, it was therapeutic for her.

Alice was in the library currently lit by candles, her fingers grazed the bindings of the books. Her large dark blue and black-laced dress swished softly with every movement. It was complete silence in the palace, a common recurrence these days. It used to bother her when her brothers first left, but over time she's grown to appreciate it. It made everything seem peaceful and frozen in time, suiting for an immortal vampire she figured. Of course there were still knights and servants, but they didn't exactly linger in the palace all day. Alice studied the titles of books scrawled in gold or black ink, not finding anything to her fancy. She's certainly read all of these books at least a few times over, it'd be dreadfully boring to read them over again. I need something new, something fresh. she decided and dropped her hand to her side. Perhaps she'd take her and Ellie out to the village to search for a new book. Add to the slowly growing collection in the giant library. After all, they needed to get out and have some fresh air. The palace was pretty clean no doubt, but the air was stale compared to the fresh air outside.

[We left off where Alice had just put Ellie back to bed after the big storm scared her, so any post is fine! XD]

Claire brought her other hand to the cup so that she was holding it like a small child would. It helped lessen a little how much she was shaking though her hands still were. At least she could drink the water now without spilling it all over herself and she gladly did. The cool liquid was so refreshing, easing her parched tongue until she felt much better. If she still had control of her taste buds perhaps it would be easy to tell there were a pinch of herbs in it, as water didn't have a flavor on its own, but no luck. It went unnoticed although she wouldn't have complained much anyway. Probably. She was too tired. Once she was done drinking the water she pulled it away from her mouth and held it out for Ebony to take. There was a sheepish look on her face as she looked around the bedroom, Ebony's words echoing through her head. With everything going on she hadn't had too much time, or energy, to clean. She and Elijah were running out of clothes because she's not been able to wash theirs, something she would have to remedy once she was better. Something told her that the two of them wouldn't let her until then. "I'm sorry, I haven't had much time..."she mumbled, clearly feeling a little bit embarrassed by the situation.

Ellie had woken up in the same strange bedroom she fell asleep in twice the night before. There had been a storm that woke her up, the thunder and lightening had been so scary. Waking up in a room she didn't recognize while in a scary storm had been scary, but she knew where she was now. That lady, Alice, had brought her here from the forest and cleaned her up a little. She had been dirty and covered in cuts. Some of the smaller cuts were all healed up now but she wasn't sure about all the big ones on her back. It still hurt, but she couldn't see. Currently she was sitting in front of one of the many, huge, dressers looking for something to wear. All there were were big shirts that were too big for her, there was nothing in her size which told her there probably weren't many other children here. Or any. This would have to do though, until her dress was cleaned. She quickly removed the one she had on, noting the blood on the back, and pulled on another one, tying it on the side so it would stay on her. Wouldn't be good if it fell off or something. Ellie would have to give the bloody one to someone so it could be cleaned...hopefully they wouldn't be too mad at her for staining it. The thought scared her, but she tried not to show that fear too much as she left the room and made her way through the big halls. This place was like maze...

(I thought so! Wasn't positive though. XD)

Ebony smiled and took the cup from Claire, curling her fingers around the cool glass. She might just have to make herself some of the herb tinted water just to sleep better. There's been a few sleepless nights lately, her thoughts and healer instincts usually getting in the way of her own sleep. However, she would never show even a brink of tiredness in front of Elijah or Claire. They've both been through so much, Ebony has only experienced the after math of everything so far. She shook her head "You have absolutely nothing to apologize for!" she scolded lightly. Her gaze softened a little bit "Now get some sleep, Claire..." she said gently, turning her attention towards the hovering Elder. "As for you Mister, you are not to keep her up understand?" she huffed. Without waiting for his reply she turned to leave, flicking her long dark hair just for added effect. Admittedly she enjoyed having this little shred of power over the vampire, but it was for Claire's sake. It was important that she got plenty of sleep and healed up perfectly. "Farewell!" she called over her shoulder.

Elijah watched the dark hair witch with a faint smile, dipping his head a little in acknowledgement. His gaze shifted towards Claire, quite amused but he remained silent. The last thing he wanted was another scolding from Ebony.

Alice sighed softly and turned her attention towards all the candles, walking by each and every one to blow them out. Once the room was cloaked in darkness again she headed towards the door. She could see almost perfectly in the dark, but even if she couldn't she's walked these halls enough times to maneuver through it blindfolded. She opened the wide double doors, covered with deep vine-like carvings that crawled up the dark mahogany. She walked out onto the main floor and stood in the middle, taking a deep breath and looking around. A moment later one of the maids ventured by, pausing when she saw Alice. "Miss?" she inquired politely. For a long time Alice and her siblings were greeted with the more formal terms like, 'your majesty' and so on. Alice found it boring after some time and decided to change things up a little bit. "Ah, Lillian. Could you open up all the windows. Get some fresh air flowing through here?" she asked moving towards the two largest windows besides the 'front door' of the palace. The maid dipped her head "Yes Misses." she said quietly and scurried off to complete her mission. Such a sweet thing... Alice thought, drawing back the large scarlet curtains that draped in front of the windows.

[Yep! That was it. XD]

Claire let her hand drop once Ebony had the cup, nodding to show that she was listening. The cabin still had her a little worried, but she was too tired to do anything about it right then. Not that Ebony would let her even if she did try. Knowin her she would turn her around and march her straight back to bed, sitting there to make sure she got to sleep. Her body was heavy, so even if she did get up she felt like she would just collapse. She pouted, watching as Ebony left the room before she glanced at Elijah. He had an amused expression in his face, but she didn't ask him what was on his mind. After a brief moment she looked down at the blankets, pulling it over herself as she got a little more comfortable. It was still a little cold, but not as bad as before. Her fingers didn't feel ready to fall off. The room was too quiet for her liking, it made it hard to sleep, but she wasn't sure what to say let alone think. It felt like she was in a fog. After everything what was a good thing to say? She closed her eyes to think about it, but she only found herself looking at Elijah again after a minute.

Ellie didn't know where she was going or where to even start looking for others. Surely there was someone here, but she hasn't seen any of them yet. Unless they were all hiding from her. Why they would be she didn't know, but she didn't know how a Palace worked. How servants or anything worked here. The kitchen was downstairs if she remembered right, there was a library and she thought it was on this floor but she couldn't remember. If she went to either place would anyone even be there? It was highly possible, but it was also highly unlikely. She felt confused and she didn't like that feeling, a frown making its way on her face as she glanced around. This part of the Palace didn't look familiar, was she going the wrong way? This place was pretty big, each floor seemed to go on forever. As if they were multiple buildings stacked together and not one humongous one itself. How did people build this place anyway? It probably took a really time to do...

(Yay! XD )

Elijah remained at the bedside, watching over Claire quietly. He wanted to sleep but at the same time he was afraid too, afraid something would happen if he did. His gaze shifted towards Ebony, waiting until she was out of the room before he reached over to gently brush his hand across Claire's cheek, a warm smile on his lips. Who knew, maybe this would count as keeping Claire awake. He certainly didn't want to find out. He didn't know what to say though, wasn't sure if there was anything that needed to be said. It had been a long and exhausting day, let alone weeks. Yet as he peered down at Claire he knew all the suffering and pain was worth it. To stand by her side and do everything he could to protect her, not because he felt that he had to...but because he knew he wanted to. "I love you, Claire." he murmured gently.

Lillian was making her rounds from one end of the Palace to another; drawing open the curtains and opening the few windows that could open. She hummed quietly as she went about her business, only briefly coming across the path of another servant every now and then. It was a pretty steady and peaceful job, not super busy other than the cleaning. She paused as she rounded a corner, spotting a small figure down the hall. She was confused at first before realization dawned on her, she had almost forgotten the young child Miss Alice had seemingly adopted. "Hello Miss?" she called down the hallway, slowly making her way over to see if the child needed anything. Although for the life of her she couldn't recall her name, the other maids have only briefly mentioned her by name. News got around fast here.

[XD]

Claire felt the warmth of his hand as it brushed across her cheek, a tiny smile crossing her lips. He worried too much, but she understood it. They had been under a lot of stress as of late and too much stress could wear you down. It could make a human sick, she couldn't imagine what it may do to a vampire. Their systems were vastly different, they weren't wired the same and therefore she assumed they didn't react the same to different things. She was starting to think a bit too much though being a Healer she couldn't exactly help it when it came to one's health. It was what a Healer did, yet she needed to relax and focus on getting better herself before she could help anyone else. Even a strong vampire like Elijah. She gazed at him, feeling a different type of warmth as she heard those words she's grown to so used to hearing. They gave her a sense of comfort, easing her aching heart and mind. "I love you too, Elijah..."she mumbled, clearly a little more sleep than before.

Ellie jumped when she suddenly heard a voice, turning to see a woman down the hall. She moved back timidly, the dirty shirt clutched tightly to her chest as if trying to hide it before the woman could see it and yell at her. The lady didn't seem mean, but she's been fooled before. Where was the last that brought her here? Alice? Was she gone, or had something happened to her? A million thoughts were running through her head, but she tried not to let them get to her too much. She would only panic then and when she panicked she tended to flee and hurt herself because she either tripped or ran into something she didn't see until it was too late. Hence some of the small wounds that littered her body, most of which were healed by now. The floor was cold and her feet still ached, but it was one of the last things on her mind as she stared at the lady with a frightened gaze. What was going to happen now?

Elijah smiled, leaned down to press a gentle kiss to her head before he drew away. She needed her sleep and he was certain he needed sleep as well, and yet he felt as though sleep would not come to him. He was too alert to sleep despite the exhaustion gnawing at him. He wanted to keep watch over her, as if afraid she might disappear if he dare close his eyes. Nonetheless he laid down on the opposite side of the bed, drawing Claire closer to him in hopes of offering her some warmth and comfort. They both have been through far too much lately, the stress hanging down on them like weights. I wish there was something more I could do... he thought and yet the best he seemed to be able to do was keep Alexander and Nikolai at bay. Make sure whatever damage they threatened her was minimal, if nonexistent at most. Yet there was nothing he could do to help her pain, the agony of losing family. Elijah lost many family members over the years, he lost Alexander and that was painful despite his cruel ways. He wasn't always like that...

Lillian studied the small girl for a moment, feeling her heart throb a little. "Oh you poor thing, you must be freezing." she spoke, peering down at the girl's bare feet. She motioned the girl closer with small waves of her hand. "Come here child, oh those clothes barely fit you." she laughed softly. "Miss Alice will be sure to buy you something more comfortable." The girl appeared frightened and she was doing her best to show she reassuring and kind. Although it did bring Lillian to wonder where Miss Alice had picked up the child and more importantly why. Not any of my business though is it? she pointed out to herself quietly. She offered Ellie a gentle smile "I promise I don't bite, I'm a maid here at the Palace, the name's Lillian." she introduced herself.

Claire closed her eyes when she felt his lips against her head, leaving them closed since it felt like too much work to open them again. Her body just didn't want to function properly, she was too tired and that was evident with the way she was currently moving. Or not moving. The bed was too soft and warm, it only added to how drowsy she felt. Something was nudging at the back of her mind, but she simply ignored it and let herself relax. That is until he lay down beside her, the slight dipping of the bed obvious to her before she felt a comfortomg pair of arms pulling her closer to the warmth she could feel drifting towards her. She mumbled something though it wasn't clear what she said, if anything at all, and gently nuzzled into him, soaking in his warmth and comfort. Their day may have started off unpleasant but she was fairly content now, a relief after everything else that has happened recently. In time she would heal, not only physically...but mentally as well. She just had to take it one step at a time, and she could do it as long as he was by her side. "...mmmph...Elijah..."

The more Ellie studied the lady the less threatening she seemed. That didn't help lessen her fears, it couldn't be helped really. Ellie has had so many bad experiences with strangers that it made it hard for her to trust people. Even now she still didn't trust Alice, afraid that she would turn around hurt her at any moment. Whenever she should let her guard down. It was wrong to be so wary of those who had already helped her so greatly, but she couldn't help it. She looked down at her feet, taking in the oversized shirt and her bare feet when she mentioned something about the clothes not fitting her properly. They were really big... three of her could probably fit into it if she untied the side of it. Not that she could even try that, there weren't three of her. She frowned slightly and looked at the lady again, Lillian, and ducked her head as if she were in trouble. Ellie hadn't done anything wrong, she just wasn't sure how to act right now.

Elijah simply held her closer, letting her scent and warmth envelope him. He was confident that he wouldn't be falling asleep, anytime soon anyways, but at least he could keep watch over her. I love you so much... he closed his eyes but sleep would not come. He was content to listen to the soft rhythm of her breathing and the quiet shuffles of Ebony moving about the cabin as she cleaned. Reassured by Ebony's company in the cabin, perhaps Claire would heal faster. A bit of a superstitious way to think but he believed the more friends she had around her, the better. There was small moments of peace in their lives, among all the chaos the universe remember to give them moments like this. It's the small moments that count anyways... When Claire spoke he pressed a soft kiss to her shoulder, a silent sort of acknowledgement.

Lillian's gaze softened "Oh my my..." she murmured walking closer to Ellie. She knelt down in front of her and offered her hand "Will you come with me? I'm sure Miss Alice will be wondering where you are." she said gently, offering Ellie a bright smile. The girl seemed so frightened and certainly didn't seem like the kind to trust strangers easily. Understandable of course, but it was saddening to see a child so afraid and quiet. Miss Alice has mentioned going into the village today anyways to pick up a few things, during with the servants were to clean up and open up the castle. Miss Alice thought it was getting too dark and stuffy in there. Lillian had her suspicions this desire to lively-up-the-place had to do with their new guest, but again she had no place to question such things. It was simply her job to do as she was told and she would do so willingly. Ever since the Princes left it's been a bit calmer around here, although quiet.

Claire's eyes opened slightly but she didn't move, gazing through her eyelashes at his chest. More specifically his shirt. Not that she was registering it too well though. Her mind was in a daze, slipping further into the darkness as the pain and fear she normally felt during the day left her. A soft sound of content escaped her lips as she shut her eyes once more, mustering up the energy to burrow into his side. His warmth. Warmth she currently needed. She wasn't as cold now but there was still a chill in her bones that she didn't like. The cold and her didn't mix to well but overall she was happy now, and a few moments later she was gone to the land of slumber.

Ellie moved back as Lillian moved closer again, biting her whimper back. Lillian seemed like a really nice lady, but it was hard for her to trust strangers. Even in a huge castle that seemed so safe. She glanced at her hand, wringing the dirty shirt she still had in her small hands nervously. Not meaning to wrinkle it more but it couldn't be helped. It seemed so silly to be so afraid, but she didn't have the best experiences in life. However she was trying to be at least a little less nervous, not wanting to make Lillian feel like she was doing something wrong or anything else like that. Whether or not it was actually working was another story. She did nod faintly when the lady asked if she'd go with her, Alice was the only person she knew and she felt the most comfortable around her. That wasn't to say she fully trusted her yet, but there was some form of it there. Forming slowly as she was sure it would form for Lillian if she spent enough time around her. Ellie no longer felt the urge to flee anymore as she had upon first seeing her, that was a good sign but not strange to her. Lillian had a comforting air about her.
