Re: [REQ] BLACKOUT(Open; 2 More Needed)

Just bumping this to let people know, it's still open, is still just starting up, and needs two more people! Now's the best time to join up and hop in.
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end

Name: RETKON - Rian Emery Tavros, Knight of Neuros

Age: 29

Sex: Agender, prefers “it” or “they/them” pronouns.

Personality: Neuros is a joke for some, a job for others. For Rian, it was a godsend - a chance to start becoming what it had always known it was supposed to be. Rian’s tendency to tinker with itself makes it a bit strange even among the Neuros Tavri, but since it’s otherwise very good at its job, it gets along all right. Rian is very withdrawn at first, because it doesn’t feel like most people understand its choices, which is probably accurate. The shyness is as much an armor as anything else.

Despite that, Rian has a wicked sense of graveyard humor, which tends to present itself more in stressful situations. It’s also a bit of an unrealized revolutionary, in the sense that it wants to be a revolutionary, but hasn’t really found anything worth revolutionizing. There are a number of things about the world that it would like to see changed, but it feels like most of the things it could try would just make things worse, so it focuses on changing itself instead. Maybe one of these days it will be able to change itself enough that it fits in.

Description: Rian is 5’8”, with a respectable athletic build. Much of its physique has been altered, including datajack insertion points along the spine and forearms, as well as metal bracers on its lower legs, allowing for greater stability and balance. It keeps its head shaved, and metallic tattoos in the style of circuitboards adorn its skull, drawing attention to the fact that there are actually some protruding circuits rather than disguising the fact. If possible, it likes to wear a helmet that obscures its features even more. The clothing Rian chooses is always neutral, somewhat loose-fitting, favoring pants, work boots, and sweatshirts, usually in shades of gray, blue, or black.

Equipment: Rian carries most of its equipment internally these days. Software suites stored within internal storage units are capable of hacking into nearby systems, including cameras, traffic control, cellular networks, et cetera. Rian has been deploying its hacking suite so long that it’s more comfortable using the multiple viewpoints provided by camera systems for visual acuity than its own eyes. The eyes themselves are also augmented, the left to provide a zoom in/out feature as well as visual data storage, and the right to restore 20/20 vision. In addition to this, Rian usually wears or carries a jumpsuit and helmet that conceal its figure even more than its regular clothing, and chipsets containing various bits of deployable code - viruses, trojans, whatever might be useful. Rian is constantly tinkering with code and trying to find new ways to adapt it to work in the world around itself.

History: Neuros.

It was the pinnacle of technology, the code-warriors dream. People sought it, searched for it, claimed they had found it. All of them were failures. One did not find Neuros, after all. When you were the right person, Neuros found you.

Ten years ago, Neuros found Rian Tavros: in a hotel by the seashore, during a conference for a technological corporation. The part that interested them was that any physical trace of Rian Tavros was nowhere near the place. There was nothing there but code - piles and piles of code, infiltrating every camera, every computer, even the door locking mechanisms. Rian hadn’t done anything but watch, but there was always someone else watching - and a young coder with enough talent to fully infiltrate a system was always interesting. The hotel system wasn’t necessarily the most secure of systems, but what mattered was that Rian had done it, and when Neuros had tapped into the alert, Rian had deployed a nicely build confusion and redirection software suite that meant getting away unscathed.

Rian was able to run, but hiding from Neuros was another matter entirely - at least, when Neuros put their collective minds to a task. It wasn’t long before Rian was brought in, a half-starved young adult who’d obviously been spending all their credit on technology rather than food, awkward and anxious and ready to panic at the slightest provocation. In simple terms, a perfect fit.

With Neuros as a shield against the world, Rian was able to develop into the person it wanted to be. It had always felt strange about the gender-based society, and being able to replace those messy equations with neat code and smooth augmentations was a step in the direction towards becoming more comfortable with itself. Rian learned - from listening, from watching, from stepping in and coding, and from being unafraid to use itself as a test subject when necessary.

After all, it wasn’t like it could get any more screwed up, right?

Hi!
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end
