Tapatalk Connection Issues [Resolved]

Post by Annasiel » Wed May 23, 2018 10:41 pm

We recently updated our SSL certification for RPF, and it seems to have temporarily knocked out Tapatalk functionality. Please bear with us while we diagnose the problem. It'll most likely work out on its own; Tapatalk can take a while to update server information regarding websites.

In the meantime, both the RPF Legacy app and the website at https://www.rp-forums.net/ are working just fine.

The RPF Legacy app seems to be experiencing minor problems as well, namely bringing up a browser prompt when people click any buttons. I spoke with B, and he said he'll try and get an update for Legacy up tomorrow, as well as work on handling the persistent issue with Tapatalk/the old app.

I want to say, though, despite our present difficulties, the switch to HTTPS will benefit us in the long-run. It secures data transfers, making it much more difficult for hackers and malcontents to mess with our information. Another layer of safety for the site. Additionally, Google search rankings will be deprioritizing websites that don't use HTTPS come June, so its best to take care of this change and all the problems that come with it sooner rather than later. I apologize to everyone for the inconvenience, and ensure that we're working on a solution as fast as possible!

In the meantime, the mobile website still works just fine, so we have an alternative until we get the apps up and running again.

Thank you for your patience and support~

New RPF Legacy update compiled and will be going out to devices within hours. Still working on a resolution to Tapatalk and the non-legacy apps.

I just "downgraded" the site to an older version of the tapatalk plugin, and it seems to work again. I am just going to call it a bug with the newest tapatalk plugin. Submitting an updated non-legacy app with SSL support soon.

Is that a challenge I see?
Should you be lucky enough to balance the correct number of murdered babies with adequate hours of volunteer service at children's cancer hospitals, you'll end up Neutral.
