"No, I guess their doctrine isn't really of any significance to us," Liam said as they walked over towards the front door. "But it gives them hope." He wasn't sure who had put those words in his mouth, but didn't question further as they both noticed the lock. Liam tried to squint up again, while listening to Nyx continue to speak.

The last thing he heard was her suggestion to come back tomorrow, before her voice was cut off into the silence. The vampire turned back to the direction that Nyx was looking at. "A stone?" Liam echoed, but voice a little softer when he heard the edge of nervousness in Nyx's voice. With his sharpened senses as a vampire, his eyesight could adjust quicker than a human to the shadows. There wasn't anything there though. That or the faint light from the main street behind them was hindering his observations.

Not really liking the fact that they'd have to go back without much effort, he shrugged after a while. "I'll climb over first?" he pointed at the fence. It didn't seem too high for him to jump over. He didn't know if there were was anyone living in the Chapel during the night, but if not there wouldn't be any harm in maybe lock picking.

It didn't take very long, before there was a soft thud on the grass next to the pavement on the other side of the barred fence. He stilled himself, just to listen for any new sounds from within the Chapel, mostly anything like a security alarm. It didn't appear to be so. There was still no light from the Chapel. It should be safe, was what he told himself before lowering himself to eye at the lock. It wasn't very old. Whoever was the staff had bothered to maintain the locks but not so much the lawn. "Hang on, I'll get the lock open." He said, reaching one hand to grasp the lock while another had reached into his pocket for something.

"Can I... help you?" A middle-aged voice had said, from the street.

Liam's hands froze as he peered outside. Behind Nyx, the light shown the silhouette of a man, holding several paper bags in one hand. In the autumn evening, he was wearing just a grey trenchcoat with black pants. In the other there was a set of keys chained together by a large ring. Confusion was painted across his face, as though he was trying to work out what was going on.Uh oh, his stomach churned in nervousness as the man had shifted his eyes from Nyx to Liam, was this the person who's in charge of the Chapel?

Nyx kept her icy blue eyes trained in the direction of where she believed the stone had hit the pavement, only nodding when Liam offered to climb over the fence first. It felt like they were breaking and entering even though the grounds of a church were technically public property, in a majority of cases. There were a few she heard of that were private, but seeing as she didn't keep up with this sort of thing she didn't know which those were. Either way she still felt a bit bad, she wasn't a criminal though her attitude suggested otherwise to most. Mainly humans and those whom didn't understand the way she was, which was opinionated and strong minded.

Her gaze fell back to Liam when she heard the thud of his feet hit the softer ground, tilting her head to the side as he said he would pick the lock. He always seemed to feel the need to protect her from...everything, sometimes it could be a bit overbearing though she didn't complain too much. If it made him feel better then why would she? "Liam, just because I look petite doesn't mean that I don't know how to climb a gate you know, but thank you." Nyx made a tiny tsk'ing noise with her tongue but smiled, moving towards the gate to to scale it when the male's voice rang out. Her blood froze in her veins, but she kept an air of calm as she slowly turned to faced the man, hoping she didn't look as guilty as she felt she did. What was she going to say? She hadn't really thought that they'd be caught and though she could come with a million and one stories as to why they were here he clearly belonged to the church and probably wouldn't appreciate if she lied to him. If he caught on to it, she was a smooth talker but she would speak the truth this time. What could he really do to them?

"Our apologies...we thought everyone would be asleep..." she started slowly, moving a bit closer to Liam though he was on the other side of the gate. "We are investigators... it's our hobby and we heard about the bus crashes which interested us greatly. Asking around we learned that there may be a girl here who knows more about it, but since the church was closed we were just going to look around and return in the morning." Though most of what she had said was the truth a few bits were lies, they were investigators but it was no hobby of theirs. Yet because they looked so young maybe the man would believe them to be a couple of teenaged 'Internet Sleuths' as she's heard them called. Why actual teenagers would ever want to put themselves at such risk she'd never understand, but perhaps it was the excitement of it all. After all she couldn't deny that it could be, at times, exciting.

"We wouldn't have disturbed anything Sir, we just want to find the truth for the poor bus driver's families..." Nyx was now putting it on a little thick, lowering her head as if she were honestly hurt for these families. In a way she was... she 'lost' her parents so she could understand how they all must be feeling. It was a pain that she would wish on no one, to never know what happened to them and to not be able to do anything about it really sucked. "We can just come back in the morning..."

Liam stood upright from where he was standing just when Nyx had froze and turned to the man. The lock fell out from his hands, and there was the soft clanging of the the metal against the fence. His hands were now at the behind him, fidgeting a little, as though he was a little boy caught with his hand inside the cookie jar. The closest thing to a curse came to his mind, self-loathing that he should've kept more cautious about the street outside as well. His jaw went slightly agape as Nyx began her explanation. Was the man really going to buy that they didn't do anything?

Meanwhile, the man tilted his head a little. Under the dim street light, Liam could see that his eyebrows were furrowed just slightly, like a hint of confusion, but subtle enough to not seem in an unfriendly manner. He appeared to be thinking for a moment, before taking in a breath. The moment of silence felt more like a minute to Liam who was holding his breath.

"Investigators?" he asked for clarification. Liam nodded along to confirm. "No, that's fine. You can stay here for the night. I'm not sure which bus driver you're referring to, but would you like to explain inside?" Right after saying so, he walked towards the gate. It was then that Liam could see that there was a faint smile, without any malicious intent nor wariness. Odd, Liam thought to himself as the man's keys jingled and the lock was detached from the fence. However, this wasn't the first time that he had seen humans acting rather hospitable for no merit.

There was a small creaking sound in which the gate was opened ajar, the man turned towards Nyx, gesturing with his head for her to follow him. He walked past Liam still holding onto the paper package. "They're just for dinner tonight," he said, noticing the teenage boy's look. Liam felt like there was some misunderstanding but he couldn't really put it into words as he walked up the staircase to the chapel. He gave Nyx a silent look.

Opening the door inside, it was rather dark, but from a single switch there was a lamp turned on in the far corner. It was just above a side door from the chapel. The man had walked over towards there, and merely used his free hand to push the door open. A wave of cold air would have hit them, and they would find themselves into the courtyard. Further down the back, there was another building, but looked less gothic and extravagant compared to the chapel building. Inside this one-storey building, the warmer air told him that the rooms were much smaller and cosier. Liam looked around for a moment, when the lights were turned on. There was what looked like seats and a low-height coffee table, and on the far side was a niknak shelf with dinning table. One couldn't see the far side, which probably led to the kitchen, but his intuition was telling him that this was where this minister or chapel staff had lived.

"You're more than welcome to help me eat some of my dinner." the rather kind voice from the man broke his train of thought. "You're free to take anything from here as well, if you'd like. Or, if you're encountering any trouble, would you like to talk about it?"

Oh. The man seemed to think that they were thieves or intruders. It was nice of him to offer hospitality to just anyone ...

Liam gave Nyx a lost look. This man is definitely a human.

Nyx could tell right away that despite her telling the truth this man, this...human, thought they were up to no good. She wasn't one to get angry, but she was annoyed. Some humans never learned and seemed to judge no matter the case, even those who claimed to work under a 'Holy God.' Honestly all she saw were hypocrites everywhere. Sure in their world, her and Liam's, there were hypocrites and the like but humans seemed to be worse at it. Aloud she did not judge, Liam would most likely be disappointed in most of her thoughts, but her mind was her own. A place where she could say anything she wanted with no repercussion. It took a moment before she followed after Liam who was following the man. She just wanted to leave at this point, but she couldn't leave him by himself in fear he would get lost trying to get home.

Her gaze trailed along the church though she wasn't really taking it in, sensing for anything non-human or negative. It wouldn't be the first time they went in only to find pure evil hiding behind the face of good. This man was human, but it was always possible that he could be hiding something else. Some gave up their lives in order to make a contract with their kind for power or riches so she was wary nearly everywhere they went. A past case of theirs came to mind but she pushed it away, crossing her arms tightly in front of her as she listened to the man speak again. It seemed Liam had been looking at the package in his hands, was he hungry? He could eat when they went home, she was feeling uncomfortable now. Yet she still followed, worried about Liam more than she was her own concerns as she always was. Those she cared about came first to her.

As they entered the building she looked around, it looked cozy she supposed. It wasn't an arrangement she'd pick out herself, but she wasn't the one living here and humans were weird when it came to living spaces. Of course they had a fairly plain living space, but they were trying to pass as humans anyway so that was that.

Nyx's gaze shot to the man and if she were anything but fae her eyes would be changing now, it did seem to drop a few degrees in the room though and that would be her fault. It was safe to say she sometimes had issues with her ability when she was upset, but she had reason to be. This man was silently accusing them of so much, without proof, and she wasn't appreciating it one bit.

"Look, Sir, we aren't looking for a place to sleep, we aren't looking for food, we don't need someone to talk to about our issues, we don't have any, and we don't want anything you have since we aren't thieves as you seem to assume we are. Believe what you will, but I will not just stand here as you silently accuse us, especially him, of things we are not even guilty of." She snapped slightly, glancing at Liam as if daring him to try and stop her. Accusing her was one thing, she fit the part of a hooligan, but accusing him was another story and she wouldn't have it. Liam was a sweet and innocent guy, never has she seen him commit a crime just because he felt like it so he didn't deserve the label of criminal. Maybe she was taking it the wrong way, but she knew when people were judging the ones she cared for.

"Sadly I don't think you will be very much help to us. Have a good night." Nyx turned on her heel and left, whether or not Liam followed her or stayed behind for more possible information was up to him but she was leaving either way. He was better at speaking to certain people than she was anyway, he was better at keeping his temper. There was a reason she didn't like going to churches, it was extremely unfortunate when she ran across the ones that gave her a reminder as to why. She shook her head and when she made it outside she took a deep breath of the cool air, closing her eyes to just try and calm down. Liam would possibly scold her later, but at this moment she didn't care much.

We'll just have to return tomorrow, hopefully we'll be able to find that girl...or if that man calls the cops we'll have to back off. I possibly just ruined one of our main leads but...

One of these days she'd get her temper under full control.

Liam could feel the atmosphere suddenly grow much colder, just when Nyx had starting saying the first few words. She wasn't happy with the misunderstanding. Swiftly, he turned back and forth between his blue-haired companion and the minister of the church. The man had turned his upper half body, looking at Nyx with the continued confused eyes. There was slow realization coming into his eyes, it appeared, but his mouth merely remained agap as though he didn't know whether to say anything.

Liam felt very awkward, especially when Nyx referred to him. Seeing just the look in her eye, he silently gulped as she walked out at a brisk pace. "Uh... um," he stuttered, finally finding his voice again. He gave a small uncomfortable laugh, trying to think what was the most polite thing to say in this case. "Sorry about the trouble... we might come back at another time... Uh... bye!"

The last word being said rather hastily, he didn't dare to see the minister's face before rushing out the door that had already closed after Nyx. The wave of cool air rushed to his face, as Liam ran around the church towards where Nyx was standing there with his eyes closed. She seemed to be calmer than when she was in the heat of anger earlier, but he wanted to tread carefully. He waited for a moment before standing next to her, tilting his head a little. "Um... Nyx, you ok?" he asked hesitantly, then facing the front of the street again. Not too far was the clock tower. It was barely midnight yet, since they had left their home right after breakfast. "Do you want to come tomorrow? We could do something else," he offered, "If you aren't busy... or if you want to..."

Nyx rubbed at her face, feeling the frustration bleed out of her slowly. It was still there running through her veins, but she found it easier to breathe now. To keep control of her ability. How awful would it have been had she flooded or frozen the Pastor's home? That would make quite a story and she didn't need a lunch mob or something coming for her. If they didn't think the man had gone insane first. She lowered her hands and looked up at the clock tower in the distance, surprised that they hadn't been out here longer. This of course wasn't the first time she's lost track of time like this, and it differed on the length of time. Sometimes it was longer, other times it was shorter. Yet she couldn't believe her thoughts were stuck on something so...trivial, but one's thoughts never made sense when trying to calm down. She felt alright for the most part now, but she didn't trust herself enough to go back inside. It'd just end up the same way she knew. However it seemed to be too late as she heard the door open behind her, waiting until he spoke before she turned her heas to look at him.

"I'm fine Liam." She replied, keeping her voice low in case her newfound calmness hadn't found its way to her voice yet. It wasn't his fault and she hoped he knew she wasn't upset with him since she knew he didn't like it when she was. Her eyes shone slightly in the light there was as she turned away from him and moved towards the front gate, bending down to pick up the lockpick he dropped earlier when the Pastor first appeared. Why he didn't just slip it back into his pocket she didn't know nor did she question it as she held the small tool out to him, a million thoughts running throughout her head. None of them made much sense and she found herself staring at the gray and tan brick of the walls that surrounded the church. Not exactly seeing them but following the random pattern in them at the same time. A vine like pattern that spread out in all directions, causing her to zone out until Liam spoke once more, asking if she wanted to come back tomorrow.

"We can, or wait a day for things to blow over. Either way we'll have to make sure to rest accordingly." They were up mostly at night, rarely in the day unless one of them could not get to sleep or they had a case that required for them to be up at that time. It was much too bright and most of the time it was far too hot for her being her gift was water and ice. Some days were pretty nice she would admit, but she couldn't imagine living like thay all the time. They had to do what they had to do though and she was one willing to do anything to learn the truth and solve a case.To put others minds' at ease, that had to make all of this worth it for her. Not that she would ever admit to that.

After a moment she shook her head and glanced towards the street again, a sigh on her lips. "We'll have to, we need to figure this out." Nyx finally replied, tilting her head from one side to the other. "I'm free for the rest of the day Liam. We can do whatever now, take a break from work for now." What they would do she wasn't entirely sure, but she was positive they would figure something out. "I am feeling a bit hungry..."

He merely nodded, while holding out his hand to receive back the small metallic stick (the housemade lock pick). Being told that they should rest, Liam was going to say that he wasn't really feeling very tired. Though given the tone that Nyx had used, and what had happened earlier, Nyx wasn't in the best mood to do so. Anybody would have already known about that. Then again, he wasn't that keen into doing work. He just had wanted to get it over with.

He walked with her past the gate and into the street. No one glanced at them much though, since they just looked like a pair of adolescents that didn't seem to be making trouble. Liam's eyes gleamed a little brightly when she said that she was hungry. "That's great, I don't have anything new today as well." Liam said, while taking his phone from his pocket to tap into some application. "Do you have somewhere you want to go for lunch? Or we could go to the usual place again."

The "usual place" that he was referring to was just the restaurant that was close to the pub in the corner. Often when Liam was lazy to cook, which happened at least twice every week, he'd contemplate on ordering something from there. Obviously their client would have paid them generously for the to be able to afford it. He stopped for a moment while realizing, "Oh, but it might take a while to get back." he added in slight concern. "Maybe we could just find somewhere close around here?"

Nyx smiled softly, noting the near excitement in his voice. At least he sounded excited to her, she's been wrong with her guesses before though and she wasn't afraid to admit that. It was part of life, everyone made mistakes here and there. Besides, she had also caught the brightened look of his eyes, it was hard to miss, so she was feeling confident in that moment. "That's good to hear, Liam. I always enjoy when we both have time off." Occasionally they took their own, seperate, cases based on who was more qualified to do what and who felt more confident for a certain case. It didn't happen all that often, and it's been at least a couple of weeks since anyone has called for her assistance. She wasn't worried, some were afraid to ask, but she checked her phone in case she had a missed message...she didn't.

"Hmm, I have nowhere specific in mind. I do like the usual but you're right, it's not close..."she began, looking up from her cell phone to scan their surroundings. There was that strange sense of being watched once again, but she didn't mention it. What if it was nothing and she was just being paranoid for no reason? That would be awkward and she decided it didn't matter. Right now she was off the clock, spending time with her friend, and she wanted to enjoy it. "I think there's a diner around here, or maybe...chicken pot pie kinda sounds good right now..." Nyx wasn't picky about food, occasionally there was something specific that she craved, but as long as it wasn't burning hot or super spicy and agreed with her system she would eat just about anything. "Oh but...is there anything specific you want?"

The young fae tilted her pale blue head and looked around again, this time to look for any restaurants that might still be open. Some catered to their kind but not all, there were those out there whom were very prejudice which she had no issue with as long as they were civil. Many weren't, but she always shrugged off their insults whenever she heard them. "This isn't work time, but when we get home we will have to write down all our findings for this case so far. So we don't forget anything." This case was considered to be high profile and that made it important, she didn't want to forget any detail no matter how big or small it was. Every little detail counted here. She may take her job a little too seriously, even she thought so, but it kept them on track. "Don't forget anything okay?"
