[CS] The Glass Tower

Post by God Of The North » Sun Oct 29, 2017 1:18 am

The nation of Aeon was known for its peaceful days, temperate summers, mild winters, and gentle weather. The nation was famous for its beautiful rivers and lakes, its ancient forests, and its green hills and fields.

Aeon was ruled by an emperor and an empress, who ruled kindly, and justly. The emperor’s name was Rúmil Ancalimë, and his wife’s name was Maranwë Helyanwë. The emperor and empress ruled over Aeon for countless decades, due to the immortality of elves. Aeon enjoyed centuries of peace, and prosperity under the rule of the emperor and empress, and the people were happy.

This peace and happiness would not last forever however, much to the dismay of the citizens of Aeon. Tidings of a dark force rising in the south west spread, and fearful murmurs and whispers began spreading through the land.

Rúmil and Maranwë, in an attempt to avoid destruction and suffering, journeyed away from the capital city, to the Glass Tower, a crystal tower that stretched up into the clouds, and was home to an ancient, and mysterious wizard, known as Orodreth Aldaríon.

Orodreth was known throughout the various lands as an incredibly powerful wizard, who was wise beyond comprehension. Rúmil and Maranwë pleaded with Orodreth to tell them what he knew of the evil force to the southwest. All that Orodreth would say however was, “He who darkens even the brightest day, and consumes the light of the stars themselves has risen from his tomb.”

Rúmil and Maranwë, distraught, decided to return to the capital, to prepare for war, in order to protect Aeon. Orodreth spoke to them again however, before they could leave. Orodreth told them to gather young men and women from around the nation in the capital, and he would chose some of them, and take them with him to the Tower, in order to train them, and prepare them for the evil that was to come.

Rúmil and Maranwë, seeing no other choice, agreed to do as the wizard asked, and summoned dozens, if not hundreds, of young men and women, from all social classes and all different races, to come to the capital, for a chance to be selected and trained by Orodreth, the immensely powerful and world renowned wizard, in order to have the honour of protecting their nation against the evil that was rising to the south west.

Name: Orodreth Aldaríon

Age: Two hundred and seventy thousand years old

Gender: Male

Species: Elf

Biography: Orodreth was born more than a quarter of a million years ago, in a time where there was little peace, and there were very few groups of people working together. There was no such thing as multiple nations in his youth, and the idea of thousands, or millions of people even existing was unimaginable to the young elf.

The world in which Orodreth lived was dominated by one creature. Some called this creature a god, some called it a demon, some said it was the mirror image of creation, destined to destroy all that had been created. Regardless of what this creature was, its power defied comprehension, and there was no one alive who could even have a hope of defeating the creature.

Orodreth lived a rather humble life for years and years, until the life he had known came to a crashing halt. To keep the creature that ruled the world happy, sacrifices were offered to it, once a month. These sacrifices were young, virgin women. No one ever saw the women again after they were sent to the creature’s dwelling, and no one wanted to imagine what happened to them before their obvious death.

The sacrifice that had been decided for the upcoming month was the younger twin sister of Orodreth, and in this time, when twins were born, it was seen that the two were destined for one another, and as such, they would eventually marry. Due to this, not only was the sacrifice Orodreth’s sister, the sacrifice was also Orodreth’s wife.

Orodreth refused to accept this, and did all he could to find a way to stop the sacrifice from taking place. Through some unknown mean, Orodreth managed to gain access to the same power as the creature possessed, a power that would eventually become known as Magic.

Orodreth rushed to try to save his beloved sister, but he was too late. He would never speak of what he saw when he entered the creature’s dwelling, but it clear that it was something he would never forget, for as long as he lived.

Orodreth and the creature did battle, and their battle raged for an unknown time, and, to Orodreth, it was as if time itself had been killed in the crossfire of their battle. Eventually, Orodreth realized that he could not defeat the creature, and that his strength was not great enough.

Fueled by rage and grief, Orodreth experienced a moment of unparalleled power, but even in that moment, Orodreth could not kill the creature. Instead, Orodreth tore a hole in the fabric of reality itself, and cast the creature through the tear, into some other dimension, where it would remain until the universe itself dwindled and died eventually. That was Orodreth’s hope at least.

Having defeated the creature, and lost his sister, his beloved, Orodreth had no further purpose in that land, and as such, he left, journeying far and wide, before eventually settling down on a hill, in an area that would, in more than two hundred thousand years, come to be known as Aeon, and on that hill, he used his power to construct a tower, where he would live, in seclusion, for the rest of eternity.

Personality: Orodreth is a very wise creature, which stems from thousands and thousands of years of living and learning. These years have both made Orodreth wise beyond belief, but they have also resulted in him becoming rather cynical at times. Orodreth also “suffers” from a side effect of his age, in that he normally takes his time and thinks things out for quite a while, before taking action. He is not an individual who tends to take rash actions.

Orodreth is a very understanding man, and he is able to see through lies, and figure out people’s personalities quite easily. He does not anger quickly at all, which makes him a good teacher, but he also is quite bad at social interactions, and interacting with other people in general, due to his many millennia of living alone, and not interacting with other people.

Orodreth, although he can quite easily detect them and see through them, does not necessarily become displeased when he is lied to. If the person who lied to him did so with the intent of harming him, or one of his students, then yes, Orodreth would not be pleased, however if he deems the reason behind the lie to be satisfactory, then he will allow it to slide without punishment.

Finally, Orodreth values knowledge and wisdom above just about everything else. He believes the pursuit of knowledge and understanding of the world and the universe to be the noblest pursuit imaginable, and he will let a great deal slide if he thinks it is done in the pursuit of knowledge, but that is not necessarily always the case. There is such a thing as an evil, or twisted pursuit of knowledge, in Orodreth’s eyes, and that sort of thing is not so easily forgiven, and can lead to one of the very rare instances that his anger is awoken and unleashed upon the world.

Name: Nea/Neo Poltin

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Species: Slimeling.

Slimelings are a rare occurrence through-out all the world, created out of random magical substances just being spilled together and are often treated like dirt, a sort of sub class to everyone. When first created they have no personality or form beyond a blob coloured out of whatever colours the substances were, after a couple of years, give or take four, they slowly become more complex in both appearance and personality, taking from people and culture they are surrounded by and as such even when getting older they can still change their forms, with the more water-y ones doing it easier. While they have no bone structure, which leaves them much more flexible than everyone else this also makes them a lot less durable than everyone by far. Slimeling come in many consistencies, from water-y oil to ice cream, but because of fire and water in large doses basically becomes a one-hit kill for them.

Biography: Nea did not have an easy childhood, she lived in the streets of a far-off land that she has quickly forgotten about. Her first few years was she was just there a little coloured blob going where it please. For most Slimelings due to their nature are often captured by thief groups or become slaves to richer people in more ways than one. Unfortunately for Nea she was one of the latters, taken off the streets to become a slave

For almost twelve whole years she was forced to work tirelessly in a mansion both as a lower-class maid, being treated like dirt by most of the other fancies and being ordered around by other maids, as well as being used as some sort of trophy shown off because of how rare she is as a species. Unfortunately, though for the people who captured Nea, all the abuse, caused a split in her personality and while in the last few years she managed to keep the other under control through sheer will.

But when Neo first came it wasn’t a pretty sight, it was a major blood bath in which she killed all but a handful of maids, who ran off screaming for help. She managed to evade capture and ran off with a whole stash of money to get herself a head start in which ever place she ended up in. After a few months she eventually reverted back to Nea who was confused as to where she was, why she had so much money and why she wasn’t wearing a maid outfit.

Now, after reaching Aeon, Nea became a reclusive wanter of knowledge, despite only being 20 at the time because she wanted to learn and so that simple triggers wouldn’t bring Neo out by accident and kill someone. She bought book after book after book, trying to learn more about the old world and magic in general. For three years she had just stayed in her mansion learning from her books. Eventually she was one of the many that the emperor and empress had summoned to the capital to be chosen by the famous Orodeth, most likely due to her being a Slimeling

Personality: The years that sure endured as a slave since youth has caused her to form a split personality, when she reached Aeon, the more passive personality took over and stayed in control for most of the time. As stated above she became very shy and reclusive, very rarely talking to people, she rarely if ever wants to do dangerous stuff that people would want to do and rarely takes rash actions as she fears Neo, due to her now preferring to take time to think out what to do. Despite her quiet nature, if she opens up to someone she believes they deserve her trust.

Nea can’t read people very well and is very easily deceived by what people said, outside of knowledge she already knows. She often shrinks in fear whenever others get angry and doesn’t want to be the leader in any sort of scenario. For her, knowledge and wisdom, comes first with strength coming second, in which Nea really loses it when people want power first or use knowledge for evil purpose, often lashes out at the person because of it but not letting Neo come out.

Neo on the other hand and comes out whenever they are in great danger, be it as sinister as nearly being killed or as simple as a big enough threat directed at her rather than general threats. Neo is very ruthless in both her actions and in her words, she often likes to take lead of everything and is a fond user of trickery and deceit to get what she wants, however when it comes down to it she can fight pretty well just by using her natural abilities. A big problem with the split personality is that neither actually knows what the other has done while the other is “asleep”.

Appearance: Both Nea and Neo are about the consistency as partially melted ice cream meaning that while parts of them are goopy and slide off them and back into them, a majority of is still solid even if they are still malleable. Both also have, light pink as any “clothes” they decided to form on them, white being the equivalent as skin for them and chocolate of course being serving as the hair as their colour scheme (hope you get the joke in her name now). Technically both stand in at an impressive 7’2”, however while still being tall, Nea looks at about 6’10” as she often slouches out of timidity.
Nea’s hair is pretty long, being just beyond the butt when she slouches and just above when he stands up completely straight it also covers what would be her left eye but in truth there is nothing actually there because of it. She often what looks to be wearing a large, flowing dress, making her look like a small bell in it, with flowers on it and in her hair, just all of those flowers are the same colour as her, the ones in her being chocolate coloured and the ones on the dress being pink.
Neo on the other hand, just about always stands at her full height, see above, when they do swap Neo’s hair goes from long hair covering an eye, losing all the flowers and becomes very short, going to about neck length with two little tail like bits that just hit her shoulders. She also goes from a very formal long dress she changes it in to a small shirt that shows her midriff, knee-length pants and an awesome long-coat, all of which being pink

Extra: Neo is the more murderous personality, while Nea is the quiet booky person who is normally in control

Name: Nazareth

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Species: Fae

Biography:
Nazareth comes from a very spiritual, very small, backwater town. He was raised by his grandmother, grandpa and father, who worked hard to keep them warm and fed. For that reason Nazareth respects his father but only that since they never had time to get close. He was kept on tight leash with his grandmother who trained him for something 'greater than himself', and he loved his grandfather who showed him the beauty of magic.
Nazareth was obsessed with magic ever since he was born, seeking it out wherever he could find it and practicing ever single day. His mother- who had died when she was young- had no magic whatsoever, so Nazareth could only do small magic tricks and spells. Through constant effort, however, his powers slowly grew until he was 11 years old and begging to become an apprentice for the local wizard.
His grandma and grandpa wouldn't allow him to go so he just escaped and went to the Wizard himself. The Wizard however already had an apprentice, his name was Alva, and he was the worst, most arrogant boy Nazareth ever met. When he tried asking Alva if the Wizard would take another apprentice, the boy simply insulted him and spit at his feet. Yound Nazareth who had not yet developed his tendency to avoid conflict fought the boy and ended up winning the battle and his respect. From that day onward Nazareth and Alva started their friendship.
When he turned 18 his grandparents had finally accepted his dream of becoming a powerful magician, and gave him money to travel to the main city and apply for an apprenticeship.
He had trouble finding a job at first but when he showed off his magic he was asked by a mysterious man if he'd like to become an apprentice for Orodreth Aldaríon. While he was a bit suspicious his desire won out in the end and he headed for the capital and the royal palace.

Personality: Mildly paranoid and skittish. Narareth tends to tuck himself into corners and avoid talking with people. He doesn't dislike other creatures but interacting with them tires him out. His tendency to avoid talking, or simply talk in short sentences, lead others to assume that he's socially awkward or hates them. He's not a very helpful person either, tending to stay out of conflicts and let other people deal with their own problems.
He is very dedicated to his goals, often times sacrificing his own health to achieve them. He forms bonds very slowly, yet has a tendency to watch people from afar and get quickly obsessed. He value's results more than effort, which makes many people angry when they try to get praise from him. This also makes it harder for himself because he is never happy no matter how much he comes close to a goal because he has not reached that goal.

Appearance: Dark brown, mid-length hair, dark black eyes. Hooded eyelids, and light eyebrows. Freckles all over his cheeks and nose, and a tendency to have his cheeks flushed. Lean but not deathly skinny, very feminine form except for his hips. Slightly shorter than boy's his age should be, but he usually wears boots which add to his height. Often wears very flowly but dark clothes, dislikes pants and will wear only leggings or robes. He has multiple 5 rings- his mother's wedding ring, 2 rings of fortune from his grandmother, 2 rings of magic from Alva and his grandmother. He has a rigid posture- something he retained from his grandmother- and only relaxes when he is with people he loves.

Name: Evalyne Ancalimë {Eva for short}

Age: 267 {appears 20 yrs old}

Gender: Female

Species: Elf

Biography: As a child, Evalyne was very sheltered, being the youngest child of the Emperor and Empress of Aeon. She spent most of her time in the palace library, playing with the other children of the court and dreaming of what lay beyond the castle gates. Being the princess, she was usually scolded if she was found with a ripped dress and mud streaked across her face.
She once tried to cut her own hair, dress as a boy and flee the confines of the castle but was caught by her ladies’ maid before she could even raise the knife to her blonde locks.

When she grew older she let go of her dreams of escape and instead turned her focus to her lessons. Specifically in healing, something she learned to hone her magic to. It was under the teachings of the master healer in the castle that she was able to escape her role as a princess when helping in the infirmary and was even granted leave to help the people in the lower parts of the city.

That was until she came of age and her parents decided it was time she was married. Eva, being rebellious at heart, denied every suitor that was placed infront of her and her parents threatened to send her away for her insolence.
And that was when she was told she would be sent to become an apprentice under the teachings of the great wizard Orodreth.

Personality: A strong willed young woman who will usually not let a simple ‘no’ stop her from creating mischief. However she can become very diplomatic and regal when she needs to be and puts up all the charms of a real lady. Can be a little passive aggressive but her attitude is fairly harmless unless provoked.
Tends to stay at the sidelines of danger but will step in to take care of the wounded and needy, not afraid of getting a little blood on her hands.

Appearance: blonde hair with a slight curl to it. Usually up and out of her face for practical reasons. Average height for an elven woman her age with a curved figure hidden more often than not hidden beneath healers robes. She also has striking green eyes set into a pale face, unmarred by her confinement within the castle.
