“Are we clear for takeoff?” A voice crackled, echoing through the empty halls of the ‘Fall’s Song’ Spacecraft. It was the peak of technology; Featuring multiple med-bays and seperate rooms for each crew-member, it was a nice step from the cramped living spaces that Astronauts and Cosmic Explorers were once forced into. “Everything’s good down here, so far.” A chuckle followed the sentence. It was true that the ‘Fall’s Song’ had some technical difficulties during its initial testing phases, but so far all the quirks had been fixed and ironed out. It was a gorgeous vessel, painted a dazzling orange color with accents of yellows and reds to properly match its name. Equipped with the latest Light-Speed boosters, the ship was built in a horizontal fashion, the first of its kind. “Alright. Commence launching sequences in T-Minus 10 seconds.” The crew had fastened themselves into the hyper-speed ‘safety chambers’, to protect them from the immense pressure and force that traveling at such high speeds created. They listened intently to the sound of the announcer’s voice, anticipation growing in each one of them. They would be the first to explore the worlds outside of their small solar system. The pioneers of a new age of space exploration. “5,4,3-” The craft began to rumble and shutter as it’s boosters were switched on, and the announcer’s voice was completely smothered by the rattling of the thrusters. The crew took a deep breath, and gave one final wave outside their small windows, before they were shot off into the black space above.
Everybody knew our sun would die eventually; Such was the way of the cosmos. A star would be born, live a couple billion years, then expand and swallow whatever poor creature it had given life to, before imploding on itself. Everybody also believed that Humanity and the Alien Species around us would be long gone by then, killed off by some disease or nuclear war or whatever. That didn’t happen, surprisingly, and the people had a situation on their hands. The sun was set to expand and swallow the earth and nearby planets whole in 200 years, and they had nowhere to escape to. Space Exploration wasn’t uncommon, as most of the Solar System was colonized by Humans or one of the Alien Species that coexisted with them. The problem was that nobody could get past the outer reaches, as Light-Speed travel didn’t exist. Of course, the N.O.S.E (National Organization of Space Exploration) came together, desperately looking for any sort of hope; That’s when they decided that if they were to survive their mass extinction event, they needed to escape into the inky blackness that surrounded them. So, after many years of hard work and research, the first ever Lightspeed Travel Spacecraft (LSTSC) was created. A member of each race, chosen for their amazing skill in their line of work, was sent out into the unknown, to find a safer place for all.
As the ‘Fall’s Song’ neared a supposed ‘uninhabitable’ planet, Autumn B-8556, they attempted to use a slingshot maneuver to continue on their way without wasting fuel. Suddenly, as they neared the atmosphere, the entirety of the ship shut down; From the engine to the damn refrigerators. The crew plummeted towards the surface, where they found the most amazing thing. Autumn B-8556 wasn’t uninhabitable, nor was it covered in red dunes; The entire planet was one massive forest. Now, on an unknown planet, the crew must not only find a way home, but also discover what made their ship crash in the first place. Oh, and avoid whatever it is that’s lurking within the shadows, watching their every move.
A crew of people were sent out to find a new home for Humanity and the Alien Races that shared the Solar System. On the way there, they attempted to save fuel by using a slingshot maneuver around an unknown and suppose uninhabitable planet, known as Autumn-8556. It was thought that the entire planet was covered in sand, so it couldn't support sentient life. Instead of going around the planet like planned, something from the surface shut down the entirety of the ship, causing it to crash. After crashing, the crew discovered the planet was covered in one massive forest, and not a desert like previously believed. They have to find a way home and what crashed them, all while avoiding mysterious creatures that watch
them from the shadows.
