I guess what people are saying is there is no real plot. Other then to gather food. So that's why I put the take of a virus etc. So we would have an actual back story with a plot.

I am basing this on a game with no narrative other than player choices. But we could make it the goal to beat Maxwell and go back to our normal lives.

Something like that would be cool.... Or maybe he could take some NPC's or some other people taking them to mine or something else like that. We have to rescue them etc.

Something like that could work.

He is trying to free himself after all so getting people to go to him by any means would make a lot of sense.

Mainly focusing on the survival aspects, but it wouldn't be too difficult to mix a plot of sorts in.

One easy thing could be to make a NPC, possibly one of the game characters, and then let him be taken by Maxwell after a while. The NPC would have been on the island before any of us came there and we bond with it.
