Picture perfect photographs
Of near-remembered strangers
Wrapped around a rock and tossed away

Lost into the eddies of
A winding river's rage as I can
Almost say the names of what I -
Trapped inside a haze, but still I -

Trying to forget whatever
Caused me to forget whatever
Happiness has led me to betray

I know their names are somewhere
In there - swear I heard from somewhere
Voices I can almost take
For granted as I make another frantic
Lunge to clutch them in my hand
But still they're fluttering to fray
Fluttering
All fluttering away

Cast by my own hand for a sole
Reason I well planned supplant
The reason with the rest of what I kept

Bury it in hungry water
Watch the froth and wild ruts
And as they fade, an inkling of regret

I tried so hard to charge ahead
But still I wept
For choosing to forget
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end

Mimicry imitates patterns
Mimicry imitates score
Parrot the structure and rhythm and tone
Knowing somewhere you've heard this before
Just a beat in the back of your thoughts
No less part of yourself than the rest
But still
When you see it
Appear in your patterns
You feel a fast blow to respect
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end

A leaky capsule in the brain
He mouths the lights as the colors change
And slowly fade to greyish waves
Reflection of the years he paid
In cells of sterile flaring bright
Bloom overhead from buzzing lights
(They smell of static) trance ignites
And burns the black of restless nights
And earnest plea for something free
All for a taste of place less clean
But through glass pictures of a scene
He'll never touch, but only dream
More left to wait in linen sheets
Of hope less hopeful, sky, and sleep
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end

Why even try to talk -
Just balk
And balk
And balk
And when you finally
Speak up at all
The twisting knife
With every word
The acid spit
And shaking hands
So why be heard
Just take your seat
And let the world
Be silent once, for all
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end

Mirror tint in silver-linings,
Dark shade glass and tarnished rose,
Behind I see a fine face smiling
Telling lies I wish to know
Of further parts of self as fair
And things of beauty left impaired
By heavy hand of hellion life
To damn the right below
Leaving being a washed, wrought mask
That bears the tells of selves I seek
But revels in the pieces lacked
And sieves all else but wishful meekness
Kept to wonder if the world
Were different, then
Would I still just believe
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end

Your poems are always so sad but also so beautiful. I wish I could write that well. Q-Q

Thank you, but I could definitely be better
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end

Alone to myself I am kept to believe
That the words you have spoken are swept to the sea
And the storms that I choke through the light as I breathe
Marred horizons shifting by and
Nothing repeats but the beat that you bled
As a thunderous screaming through silence ahead
With the whispers of rain falling freely misread
To scar my eyes and wash my skies
With cumulous rafters loft luminous crash
Rumbling dubience crumbling dread
Hefty banners of wind that berate me and then
I sink fast, free into skyfold sea
Read my lips through the peals of numinous years
Read my lips through the song of the rainfall long
Read my lips through the horde of wuthering ward
So maybe
I'll read yours
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end

I think you're far too good to me
Every time you call me out
Or put me through your misery, well
It's nothing more than I deserve
So if you'll let me interrupt
I'd like a final word
One day you'll find it better
A better love in fairer weather
Pretty, picture perfect paintings
Polished in their rows
And maybe then you'll realize
How nothing ever really changes
And your picture perfect life
Will see what stirs behind your eyes
And when that all begins to smoke
Pretty, perfect pictures choke
And cover up with soot and char
And burn like the fiery lie they are
And there you - sitting in the midst
And hacking on the worst of it -
You'll realize what a perfect catch you are.
Alone she drifts from ancient mists
Nary a candle, nary a wish
But in the wont of wandering paths
Through wooded knolls, and windworn crags
She seeks a face she thought as friend
But now -- she thinks as judgement's end
